what replaced flash? i know it lost support, i just dont remember there being a replacement.

At least, that's the idea, but the tech is completely different.

Download the Flash Projector:

Then, use the download button on FA on the Flash pieces you want.
Run the projector, then go to File > Open and open the piece you downloaded.

Can't really play things online, will have to try and sort that out if possible.
I managed to make the projector the default program for the flash files so they play now without having to open the program and selecting the file every time. I just open the file as normal.

It's a bit jank but you can get some SWF stuff to run through it.

You will have to convert the files to HTML5 now since flash is blocked everywhere by adobe itself since yesterday. Odd thing about this is this has been coming for years especially with the rise of WebGL and Html5 replacing flash.

How do you covert them?

From what i read Adobe Animate can do this but i'm sure there are other ways to do this besides using adobe animate.

is that the Ruffle program I have heard about?

it's an online program new grounds made for all browsers

do you know of the offical download?
I have looked around for some places but it is hard to tell what is real and what is basically a virus

Flash is dead everywhere. I recommend Ruffle.rs, it's not ready for browser use yet but it should be good for watching those animations you saved.
