What is Asynch Species Development or Worldbuilding?

'Asynch' is the shortened version of 'asynchronous', meaning not happening at the same time.
It's one of two styles of work that I can do with you on your fictional species or worldbuilding, on a commission basis. With Asynch, we each work on it in our own time. With Synch, we work on your commission at the same time, usually in a consultation.
The Benefits of Asynch
🌟 You get a document with as much completed species or worldbuilding work as I can do for you, plus questions and comments from me to help you develop your creation further
🌟 You don't have to come up with answers to anything immediately (this can be helpful if you like taking time to think or if you feel anxious about talking to other people in real-time)
🌟 It's cheaper than 'Synch' work (£20GBP per 1,000 words you send to me compared with £25 per hour of 'Synch' work)
🌟 The end result looks exactly the same as 'Synch' work
To do Asynch work with me, please fill out a species or worldbuilding questionnaire. To get these, either Note me or email species@thecharacterconsultancy.co.uk or worldbulding@thecharacterconsultancy.co.uk. You'll get an automated email with a link to the relevant questionnaire on it. Complete it, return it to me, and we can begin as soon as I've sent an invoice and received payment.

Is asynch what I'm currently doing with you with the character profile we're working on?
Admittedly though, my services/price list is somewhat confusing and last time I tried to integrate it into a nice, easily understandable whole, it didn't quite work. I offer No Frills which are normally done the way you and I are doing them, but people *can* have them in consultation form. Consultation-format No Frills are certainly fun and I've worked with a handful of people who did whole characters that way, but it costs quite a lot more so I generally nudge people towards doing them the way you and I are doing ours.
But species and worldbuilding work is generally much, much bigger of a project (it turns out that entire species and worlds are more complicated than individual people. Who knew?) so I can't really just offer a set price to complete 'a species' or 'a world' because there's always more exploration you can do. So I offer a pricing system for ongoing work for that, rather than a package deal like you get for characters.
But you're right - technically what we're doing is asynch work.
