Moving Away From Patreon

I’m hearing word that Patreon might be forcefully changing the way they charge backers. Making it an annual billing system. Meaning instead of being charged at the 1st of every month backers will be charged the same day every month starting at the first day they started backing a creator. This can be good for backers but will make tracking and distributing certain rewards hard and stressful for creators. The worst part is they haven’t even communicated any of this to their creators. Asked for no feedback. Nothing.
That being said. I am currently in the market for a new crowdfunding platform. If anyone knows any that:
- Low/no monthly/annual fees preferred
- Discord integration
- Tier lists
- Built in reward delivery tracking
- Charges backers taxes upfront is a plus but not a must
- Preferably have integrations/partnership with a low cost/free backer-only streaming platform
- Preferably WordPress plugin prefered with the ability to link the platform’s account to the WP website account and the ability to content block pages and posts.
If you know of any decent ones please comment or note me.
What does this mean for current Patrons?
- The month that I switch all current backers will be refunded if they choose to follow me onto the new platform.
- My creator account will be voluntarily deactivated/suspended at the end of that month
-- Meaning anyone who didn’t switch platforms with me shouldn’t be charged from thereon.
- Any rewards due will be delivered and any access to backer-only content will still be accessible until the end of the month.
Progress so far:
I have found a new service called Sponsus It offers most of the same functionality as Patreon. I have been talking to the CEO about switching. Seem like a solid platform. I considered Ko-Fi, but they won’t respond to any of my questions. Their loss.
