A gentle reminder on Character Theft.
I wanted to write a gentle reminder of the sheer invasive-ness of stealing and bastardizing someones character and/or designs. You don't know who that character is, or what they mean, you don't know who the owner is. You don't know the purpose of their creation or just what they mean to someone, or how much you'd be violating a person by doing so to their character, to them. You will never, ever, even after confrontation understand the extent with which you've harmed that person, harmed their views of the world, harmed their views of their own creative property and prospects. You will never understand where that persons mind may be at, or where they've been put because of that.
I also ask, please TELL people if you see their characters, their work, or anything of theirs being misused.
Please do everything you can to protect your own creations.
Even if it means putting out money, dealing with paperwork and lawyers.
Know what's yours and defend it relentlessly.

Art/Character/Design theft are sadly such a big problem. The best we can do is weed it out where we can and like I said protect your property! Get that copyright protection!
Granted while there's a lot you can do to vet commissioners and characters, there's a lot you can't do. But I certainly appreciate hearing when other artists out there do what they can to avoid it. Last thing you want is to have yourself and your artwork involved :/
I hear about that specific case happening a lot and its just such a uniquely art community/furry thing like. You're playing with a character that I made to represent myself or something otherwise, it definitely elicits some odd and unique feelings. Such an odd thing when it happens!
