The old unicorn's ramblings

There is a legend of my people from many generations ago that the horse was the spirit of the thunder. When I first heard that story from an ancient Shaman I knew in my heart that I was meant to be a horse, but was cursed to live as a human until I could redeem myself. Or maybe not, but that sounds a lot more interesting than watching Roy Rogers and wishing I was Trigger.
Anyway, I have been committed to living as equine an existance as possible. This somehow included working at an obscure job in a giant multinational corporation for several decades until they realized that in all those years I had done absolutely nothing of value whatsoever and decided it was worth paying me to retire early. This left me (because of wise investments along with carefully embezzling company funds) with a modest retirement and an opportunity to live on a small farm with several horses who had become attached to me, plus with time to write. I have been writing Transformation related stories for about twenty years, mostly concerned with the post-transformation experiences one would encounter, and mostly focused on equines.
In my opinion this is an area that is neglected in most TF stories- they will go into great detail on the transformation itself, but other than an occasional X-rated post TF description don't delve into the 'what next'. I do enjoy these stories, but for me the most intriguing part and what I yearn for is to be a horse long term, and as a result this is where many of my writing goes. Also, for the most part, since I would voluntarily become an equine, I seldom have stories of the 'forced' or unwanted transformation. It's hard for me to understand why anyone wouldn't want to be a horse. This is also an area where I scratch my mane- most of us want to transform to something, but so few stories feature a willing protagonist.
I've also written (and continue to write) a lengthy, rambling and confusing first person account of a unicorn, which I doubt will ever be finished but is over 900 pages. It originally started as a short story, became a series of short stories that were somewhat related, then delved into a story arc that has yet to end. Eventually I may upload it here as well, but for now am excited to find several old friends live here and that I can follow their work again as well.
For now...

Aaah...so many nice topics to discuss. One would be herd behavior and what donkeys and horses separates from eachother as just 1 example (or how rude zebras in the wild can be ;-P )
I actually prefer humans to turn completely into horses in body and mind - which includes reduction of symbolic language capabilities in favor of herd/body language ("instinct" and a lot more.
I personally think that stories are the best way to adress the after-tfs...or maybe movies with horse reincarnation topics (I wish there would be some better ones than for example the 3 stooges episodes and some rather weird ones) - unlike art, where you would need long comics to tell different days and possible dilemmas to solve.
This has also something to do with prices and what you are able to tell within single pics vs. longer sequences and whole comics in general.
There is also a decision tension...if a project shall be tame or adult.
Despite of many adult uploads when it comes to my personal gallery - I subjectively prefer in stories more tame approaches (or mature) over adult.
For the simple reason that most stories are short and oversexualized episodes within an already short story make the horse part more insignificant in comparison. Sex is in such cases even a foreign element that does not fitt in the story flow or it ends nowhere.
(I personally do not consider plain tf descriptions as full stories - but as what they are...tf descriptions and therefore fragments or snippets).
Sorry for the bad english. I hope it makes some sense ;-P
I can always understand another equine! Yes, I believe much in the more mild stories that can actually be stories rather than graphic sexual accounts (though those can be fun to read).
Reincarnation as a horse is a topic that I've shied away from. I have always felt a hidden danger that it would become too tempting in some period of depression to myself or one of my readers to push the 'restart' button on life. I do recall the 'Three Stooges' film where their sister was reincarnated as a horse.
For mental changes, the ideal story for me would be an instant physical change, then a slow mental change as 'horse values' begin to creep in unnoticed to the protagonist. This is something that I would see as being almost inevitable in a transformation, because of the social pressure of the rest of the herd. I'd certainly like to find out.
Horses and donkeys are an interesting topic which I've had a small amount of experience with. I purchased a six year old Appaloosa gelding who had been raised with and lived with only donkeys. He is quite a tall horse and was a giant among them. Socially in the horse herd, he is quite easygoing, and gets along with all of the other horses. The mares all adore him, even though he is in the middle of the hierarchy, and prefer his company to the herd leader. So being around donkeys appears to build character. Working with him to learn is a requirement, as he responds well to reward but not to force. This is much like a donkey, he thinks about what he is being asked to do.
For other donkey / horse interactions (and with some mules as well) the donkeys and mules all seem to understand that the horses are fellow equines, while frequently horses that have not been around donkeys or mules will initially panic at the strange creature, even though usually much smaller.
