Should I change Bastet's name?

So, I got this lovely catto as an adopt: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/40896782/ And her name is Bastet.
Obviously, she's based on the egyptian goddess, given the name, the attire and the species. And that's all well and good. I love egyptian themes and deities. The thing is though: wouldn't having the name Bastet for an egyptian cat character be like having a sona or OC that was a Jackal and then naming them Anubis? Would it be considered unoriginal?

It depends on what you want for your character. If you want people to see the direct link between the character and their inspiration then Bastet would be great. But if you want your own personal spin on things, you could tweak the name, or just change it entirely. There’s no shame in using a name that’s found in mythology!

Hmm I think you're right. I do really like the Egyptian theme, and the sort of deity/royal flavor isn't bad either. I may just think of a tweak to the name that will remind people of "Bastet" without being exactly that, as you said.
