Gender Corrective Surgery

Hey, so it's been a hot minute since I've posted a journal, and life has moved around perhaps a little.
So, in case my commissions and other art has not given it away, I was assigned male at birth, but kinda had an odd relationship with gender.
It took me quite some time to figure it out, but with some good help from people in the fandom and the relative safe space that the fandom it is, I eventually worked out that yeah I am gay as fuck (relatively bi?) but am not cisgendered afterall.
So yeah, from years of RPing with my fursona being gender neutral leaning masculine, but with a cootch just felt... right? like, yeah, after years of exploring it's been hella clear that I've had genital dysphoria my whole life, but very little about my gender presentation.
With help from some furries out there I was able to explore this more and really cement what these feelings really are.
So now the point I'm getting at:
With great thanks to honestly a whole load of people (most of them furries) being lightposts along the way from their own paths to transition, I am now just one month away from having GCS surgery (bottom surgery) to get the bits I should have always had.
I am still a "guy" more or less, but gonna have the surgery to have a vagina come one month from now.
I'm honestly in tears from receiving the call form the surgeon to set a date for this.
It was a long path, but really some of that was on me for dragging my feet.
I started seeing a gender-specialized therapist/psychiatrist about 2 years ago with the goal of getting a letter of recommendation for the surgery.
According to the WPATH regulations (official guidelines set for phycchs and therapists) anyone whom is "gender nonconforming" may seek surgery and/or hormone therapy to get them where they need to be. HRT is a bit easier to get, but the surgery needs a letter from 2 different therapists whom can vouch that in their professional opinion the surgery will benefit you.
The rules USED to be you were required to live as your "prefered gender" for a full year before being approved for HRT, then an additonal year after that to even apply for the surgery, which often has a 6-18 months waitlist depending on where you live.
Thankfully these rules and regulations have been updated as more info on gender research has been delved in to and made available.
The current rules do NOT require "publically living as preffered gender" only recommended, seeing as many people may be forced in to the closet by family or where they live. It also removes and requirements for a binary transition. Do ya love having a dick but have crippling dysphoria about not having tiddies? You're valid! Want just top surgery but don't want HRT as you're happy with your current levels? Wonderufl, that works too!
I have been relatively quiet, as I tend to not care nor really want to be out and "trying to get popular" but I have always kinda worked "behind the scenes" to help whoever I can.
A couple months ago, I came across the tweet of a certain blue dragon who is kinda well known in the fandom, about them not realizing a non-binary medical transition was possible. I reached out to them to let them know how it works and that yes, you can go about it.
I was really amazed and humbled about how quickly this helped them turn their life for the better, and just how big the knock-on effect it has had in other furries discovering their identities are not only valid, that there are loads of other people with the same feelings out there; but that the newly updated medical regulations allow for literally any combination or iteration of medical or non-medical transitions.
I want to help the trans and nb community, to give back and help as much as I have been helped myself.
If you have any questions; have had any kinda trans feels about yourself and aren't sure; or are legit just curious, please comment here or note me and I'll do my best.
So yeah. Gonna get me my COOTCH!
