I'd say doing a separate ref of how Ian looks when he's fat/inflated would provide of a nice visualization of how his markings look when he's big, though of course that would mean twice the ref drawing.

What came to mind is Red Panda, I forget if there's examples of fat Red Pandas with the Pandaren race in WoW, but that is likely my inspiration. That is a species variant offered and in general Pandaren are corpulent in that game.

I wanna say first off that I do love the way Ian looks now, so I would never suggest you change him, but that's not what you're looking for, you want suggestions on what we'd do IF we were given the task to change him, so I shall provide some. Take in mind these suggestions are all seperate, you could take all, some, or none of them on board:

- Lean into the mystical elements of things. Give him more bands of green and purple on his body along with simple patterns that showcase he's magical in an even more fun way, but are also not a pain in the ass to draw over and over again
- Go a little crazier with the hair. Since you made that ref 2 years ago you've since then already played around with having more fun doing stuff with Ian's hair, keep that up, have fun with it and don't hold back on that wicked crazy green do
- Play with the fur patterns. You've got this cute little "suit and tie" thing going on the chest, but then nothing else but regular fur patterns everywhere else. Have fun with that I say, make a cool pattern for his floof and go hog wild with it
