Adopts (How do I make them cool?)

Lately I've been seeing a lot of adopts, and I really love and appreciate all of them! Their so appealing, and an easy way to make profit and pass some time. I tried making adopts in the past but they were never appealing to people, and were never purchased. I tried sticking to color palettes, and themes, hoping to draw slight attention, but is there a special way to do it? Should I draw them in certain poses? I don't want to do too action - filled, but then again that could show off the personality of the characters quite well - but I don't think that is for reference sheets, and I want to make it so every detail of fur is noticeable, thus more appealing.
So what makes an adopt appealing and able to sell? If you want to critique this one and point out where I may have went wrong, along with edit it to be a better more appealing one to help me get the idea, please do. https://www.furaffinity.net/view/35913572/
I hope you guys may be able to help me since I'm really curious about these adopts. I mostly am aware on color theories to make things nice, but still I think there's more needed to grab people's attention.
