the problem with browsing the galleries of great artists....

...is that while they're wonderful inspiration, eventually I just wind up completely fucking intimidated and not wanting to draw because I feel like a total fraud who has no business engaging with this hobby :/
Just me?
Just me?

And when I consider that i see a bunch of folks going "this is my first try at 3D" and it's already a thousand times better than what I tried to be doing for about 10 years... x_x
Pointlessness feeling goes up tremendously, until the next time I feel like trying again and the cycle repeats itself :X
Combine that with depression and you spend a surprising amount of time laying on your bed feeling like you suck.
Also, I think you have quite a distinct style and it makes you amazing ♥
And we're often our own worst, most brutal critics. Wish I had some wonderful little trick to get past that, but I've yet to find one. Best thing I've found is to occassionally look at what criticisms are being made against your work and evaluate how valid that criticism could truly be. Helps if you can manage to step back and dispassionately review your own material, but the big part is figuring out which bits of criticism might be areas for improvement and which are completely invalid.
I personally followed you for the small/flat chested ladies and the soft glow your pics give off.
It's like - you have to make sure you don't overdose on their works, bad side effects
So don't worry looking up to bigger artists. Art is fun!
(*Except the ones who do delete the old stuff and deprive the world of the journey)
Breaking the stupor for me is done usually by focusing on what I myself am good at, instead of what other people do better. Then seeing some obvious mistakes in the pieces made by 40k+ watchers that no one points out because they either don't see it themselves or are just afraid to mention (those popufurs do like to throw temper tantrums afterall!) makes me feel good xD
That said, I've un-followed a few who were high quality, then were fetching $150+ for their pieces, and then their quality bombed out but their prices didn't. I don't begrudge anyone for making a living out of art, but it rankles when the artist doesn't seem to be... well, trying any more.
Still not as bad as those people who take way too many commissions and then jump ship, because they have tens of people breathing down their neck, like Jailbird did.
