It is a flawless ending to the trilogy where the relationship between the human vikings and the dragons comes to an memorable conclusion. It was epic to say that although there is the relationship of a human to an animal, there is always that instinct that humans have that animals have as well- their needs and even their basic wants. What would be is that when there is a tame, domesticated species in interest with a wild one, it usually is the male trying to prove itself a whole lot more to the wild female as we see in the movie. If it were in reverse, it would be a bit easier, but it will have to have the male show the interest of the female in many ways. Certainly for Hiccup marrying Astrid, they do share a lot as they were warriors, but still, they do have to prove themselves to show that they were made for each other and therefore, we have the fairytale ending where protagonist and deuteragonist take things to the next level.
In the case of the main problem- there should not be room for complete control of a species unless there is a good reason why (ex: Dromedary camels being nearly extinct but moved to Australia to thrive and save the species.) For this one, as there are an abundance of them, it would not seem plausible to enslave them unless they feel like they should join. As we do see from Grimmel's beliefs, one can assume that they don't have any rights, but really, though they don't have the mental capacity like humans (YET, ) humans should know that such beings are smarter than they are, and can have some way of knowing right and wrong, and they have some way of garnering intelligence.
You do have to see the very end- it is very cute when the Furies did take their relationship to the next level, but know that too, that anything that is non-human or furry can remember-look it up on YouTube, these reunions are incredibly cute and will melt any iron heart one can have! Great movie.
It is clear that there is continuity in the trilogy, but if you have noticed if you were to see the movie, Hiccup almost never narrated in the movie, and in some cases, a movie without first-person narration would be better. I could say that when it came to the ground where the dragons have their paradise, it was so pleasing to the eye and I can wish to see that somewhere in the world like that. One will have to know that if there is such a place where there is wild animals, one should be wary of their surroundings as much as possible unless there is control. I will say too that there were many references to the previous movies in the last one, but when it comes to flashbacks, Hiccup's father whenever he says things, he makes you think. One great example is him saying, "Whenever you have love, you will have a loss. But it would be well worth having such memories." You should give this a thought as this is so true.
Overall, this was a great way to close out the trilogy, and I would be very happy to own the whole series. Off topic, it was nice to see a little epilogue on #2, and the series had me entertained with drama and jokes-I was not bored. I can say for #3, we see everyone maturing, and it is good to follow the life of the protagonists make it to the end. We do not know how the others did, but I think that Berk is going to thrive well without dragons. I can feel a spinoff in the future, but in the meantime, the 2019 movie is where we can have a resolving close to a fantastic trilogy. I hope for another movie from Dreamworks that is focused on Medeval-like times.
A last thing, there is an actual, but separate epilogue to the film; but is a short film that was shown on NBC that is 22 minutes long- How to Train Your Dragon: Homecoming- it will continue on getting to the mushiness of how both the spouses of Toothless and Hiccup would relate once their relationships mutually close. Would it continue to be a good relationship thereafter? I did not see at the point I wrote this rating, but you will see on Wikipedia or if you're able, search for the vid online. I would feel that this part would be as good as the ones before.
