I'm so sorry, pal. Even if you think you're prepared for it, the shock of losing someone can often leave you numb at first, not even really knowing how to process it emotionally. I know, years ago, when my Grandparents passed (within a year of each other) it just didn't compute at first. The idea of a world without them was impossible to comprehend. The grief sometimes doesn't hit us all at once, but when it does, the best thing to do is remember our dear ones with love, and try to take whatever comfort we can in the knowledge that whatever it was that took them from us can't cause them any more pain.

Yeah, that's probably it. It doesn't help that the circumstances with my bio dad's passing are EXTREMELY similar to my step-dad's passing are uncanny. It's like going through a nightmare twice.
