my google (youtube) account now wants my phone number for dumb reasons do I finally give into the beast that wants one more hoop which sickens me (also flip phone but Ive grown to hate them and barely turn it on) I also fear were give up too much information in general leading to our identities being stolen and too many people knowing too much why does youtube need so much when people use it like they do?

They need a phone number just in case your account is hacked so you can reset the password. But be careful of phishing scams. Go to your Google itself and see

well I was on youtube and well it locked me out and asked for verification due to unusual activity which for me was being more social than I normally was
