honestly, i read journals only when something about it interests me. mostly the title TBH.

i pay attention to stuff like this journal, cause i can relate lol, i sometimes wonder if posting full-fledged life updates or trying to talk about my other hobbies is worth it in FA, cause lets face it, we're mostly here for the art and porn. i only post life-stuff here cause i refuse to socially network on FB or Twitter like a normal person lol, i simply prefer hanging out here cause "normal people" irritate me ^^;

i only pay attention to "Commissions Open" journals if i have the money to commission stuff and want art from that artist at that particular time, but 90% of the time i clear all on those cause i'm usually without money at the time the commissions are open... such is my life

i shy away from vents/rants unless i'm friends with that person, hard pass otherwise

etc. etc.

i dont nuke all journals, but i glance through the titles and "Select All", then un-select the ones i want to read, delete the rest. then delete after reading

I usually read them, since (besides Comms Open/Streaming spam) they're typically a window into the world of the artists, different from submissions themselves.

I think FA now has a feature to nuke just streaming notification journals.

Yeah, it does have that feature. I actually forgot it existed

literally journals are the only reason I open up FA without being linked to it from a nsfw image dump discord server channel. Occasionally one or two artists that I consider among my favorites will put something relevant up regarding health, hiatuses, or just general thoughts. I enjoy those a lot, so that's why I'll spend 2 or 3 minutes every few days checking.

For the most part though, yeah, it's just commissions, adopts, and stream announcements.
