I don't think that anyone that walks through that gallery actually knows what a "furry" is, to be honest. I didn't design that piece to really be "furry", it was more "Hanna Barbera" cute n' cuddly.

Oh dude boar, it really "does" feel good to know that one of my works is going to be hanging on someone's wall and they are going to be looking at it. The media will last for generations. I hope that in 200 years it's going to still be around...while people scratch their heads looking upon it.

So, how do you go about getting things hung in a gallery? Did you know the owner, or did you meet them? Is the transaction more of a professional thing, or did you need an in before hand?

I'm thinking of putting up some of my work, but I'm in Toronto and competition is fierce to say the least...

I had those pictures on display at the FLOW gallery, it's a local artist's gallery and any one can put their art work there for a time. The FLOW was created to promote art and artists. They have quite a lot of work there and some of it is quite good to say the least.
They have had hundreds of paintings in and out of there since I first started showing.

If one wants to display, simply bring in the art, sign a sheet that describes the work. Of course the gallery gets a percentage of the profits for the art work sold...but frankly I'm ok with that since I'm happy just to sell a piece for personal reasons, not so much for profit (though that extra money will come in handy). :)

I would imagine that in Toronto that there are thousands of artists, all vying for a spot on the wall anywhere they can get it! Good luck to you, and keep on doing your art! :)

Yeah, it seems the situation is similar in Toronto save for the fact that you first need to have your worked judged before it's put up anywhere. Maybe I should look at finding smaller venues or something...

I'm so glad that someone liked it. It was an infectiously cute picture, such a smile and expression. They lady at the FLOW gallery thought it was a penguin. XD

*laughs* I guess I could have done one of the Madagascar penguins. Eh, I'd much rather have my original art concepts on display though. Plus I don't have to worry about being sued for copyright infringement.
