Nintendo E3 2021
Because no one else had jack shit to talk about, here is my breakdown of what I felt during Nintendo's showcase. I will only mention things I have input about:
-Smash Bros: Fighter pack 2: Fighter number 5: Kazuya from Tekken.
I'm very loosely connected to Tekken with most of my experience being Tekken 1 and 2. I mained King and Alex so it didn't mean much to me, but a lot of people were stoked for it. I'm glad it's another villain and not meme material and I'm happy for the folks who wanted a proper Tekken Rep.
-Mario Party Superstars:
YES. Holy smokes. The main issue with mario party games is the minigames and how as the series progressed, the minigames stopped being about skill, reflexes, and memory test, and just boiled down to random chance. By going back to the minigames of Party 1, 2, 3, and 4, we return to the GOOD stuff. Online is a bonus.
-Metroid DREAD:
Holy hell... While the focus was on Prime 4 for the last few years, the hopes of a "proper metroid 5" was somewhat buried. Thus, when Metroid 5 was announced, and it was showcased to be a 2d game AND is slated for THIS YEAR, AND is the phantom Dread project? No one was expecting it, and I have to say, I'm beyond happy for it, especially for Metroid's 35th anniversary.
-Monster Hunter Stories 2:
While I've known about it, this direct was the first time some avid pokemon fans have actually even heard of the game and are stunned by what they are seeing. Hopefully this exposure draws yet more people away from the bloated corpse that is pokemon.
-Advance Wars:
Well hell, look at this. Not only is Metroid back, but so is advance wars. Kudos to everyone who has been a fan!
-Age of Calamity DLC:
Weak. So fucking weak. I've 100%ed the game ages ago, meaning all the characters are done, they have top tier weapons with top tier abilities, and all missions, ALL missions, are done. DLC wave 1 hits and... We get ONE new playable character, ONE new weapon for Link, ONE new weapon for Zelda, a new difficulty level, and two foe variants. Where is Sooga?
-BotW2:
I'm not sure yet. BotW1 was pretty but it was shallow as hell and offered nothing to do with no reward. Will this game re-focus and drive the player to actually have rewards that are worthwhile?
And that concludes my views. Here is hoping all is going to go well.

I'm going to do my best to pretend you didn't just say that.
Also it's funny how people are complaining about Kazuya being in Smash cuz they never heard of him (despite him being in a popular fighting game), or because he's another "Shoto" like Terry, Ryu, and Ken. Great now they is gonna bethe next Sword Fighters/Fire Emblem issue. XD
I'm really glad to see Advance Wars return, but if I had to guess this is probably mostly to gauge interest regarding whether or not it'd be profitable to start making them again. Hopefully it will, because this one remakes the two that largely started the burst of games we saw for a while. I definitely have my fingers crossed for this one.
Overall I think this set of E3 stuff felt very... Weird. It had some highlights, but you know things are off when Capcom ends on a thing about esports, and Square Enix ends on a sort of retelling/prequel of FF1, yet never mentioned anything regarding FF16 or the 7 Remake, despite those having the combined budget of a small country. Nintendo stood out for sure, but as someone else said that might not necessarily be due to their own positives (and if we're talking me specifically, SMT5's showing alone was always going to carry a lot, so I'm not sure how fair I can be).
Yeah I feel this Advance Wars release is to gauge interest in the series. If folks buy this, then they will probably make new entries.
I felt that no one really had anything to share other than Nintendo, which you'd think these companies would be more aware of, especially after 2020.
