A few days late this month. Not a lot of new material was put out there into the swirling chaotic mass of the web, it seems.
Starting out with something I'd never heard of before: the Shahmaran/Sahmeran, queen of snakes and also possessing great medicinal knowledge, as well as being a remedy herself. This is the article that came to my attention but there is also an article on Wikipedia about her. Eating her cooked flesh cured a king of a disease, but drinking the extract from that cooking pot kills the vizier who tricked a boy into revealing the location of the Shahmaran. Not quite a basilisk but there's a snake connection.
More basic mythology about herbs: Basil is the king of herbs. Get some if you're worried about me being in your neighborhood!
Figurines, unfortunately out of stock here. I think this one has been listed before. Strong tail there. Maybe it's like a yoga pose?
And an interesting find, from Kingdom of Stonetree Broadcasting. Sir Gwythir Owain vs. The Cockatrice of Brastondell!
"I had to learn (and fast) to use my other senses to fight. Admittedly smell was a little hard to use for battle, and I wasn't very well going to lick the monster, so taste was out of the question. So I fought using just my hearing."
Perfect for a radio show! They also seem to indicate that the severed head can continue to petrify, much like Medusa's head weilded by Perseus. (I'm gonna go buy some decapitation insurance....)
