New political policy...
Updated to my profile:
While I was previously a very politically minded individual, over the years (and decades too late), I have discovered the utter futility of political discourse. There are 2 huge things that have driven this decision:
- The vast majority of people are not, and never have been, interested in truth. They are only interested in what confirms their preconceived notions and worldviews. Considering that most are also hopelessly partisan, that confirmation requires them to constantly flip-flop on major positions, constantly contradicting themselves to stay in lockstep with "The Party". There is no debate with individuals like these, who are ultimately, narrow and close minded.
- "It doesn't matter who votes, what matters is who counts the votes" (Joseph Stalin). This has become more and more evident as the 2 parties ramp up efforts to manipulate the process of counting votes. To the point that I recognize the futility of participating in a system that only cares about winning and not the voice of the people!
Given these things, I am now officially apolitical, no longer interested in discussion, or in participation.
