Sounds like a you problem.

In sincerity, I'd try to keep an upper limit on the word count in order to keep yourself from going overboard if it actually gets to that problematic of a degree. I've read in other comments that you have trouble with such limits, but you'd need to put it in practice to get better, right?

I feel like the bigger chapters end up being something to look forward to, but at the same time since a novel usually averages at 40,000 words long and the last chapter was over 10,000, I think some limiting on word count would help speed things along, although some fantasy novels exceed 100,000 words so it might be ok. Also big chapters might disinterest or discourage readers when the see that the latest chapter somehow exceeded the character limit of the site.

I don't think you should let chapter size and character limit control your words too much. Maybe consider changing were chapter 6 becomes chapter 7?
