Commission Information

General
Hey guys! I've been meaning to migrate this information for such a long time (from DA), but just kept forgetting or putting it off.
I am still open for commissions, and you're free to message me regarding if interested!
My prices are liable to change in the near future. I currently charge for less than the time that goes into each piece, but I've felt a strong need to expand on my portfolio and work on more commissions until I do so. I've struggled with some mental health issues over the last several years that really tanked my productivity, and while I'm always working to improve my productivity, it does mean that my portfolio has suffered and stagnated in the interim.
PRICES:
-$35 USD for a full-body, coloured piece of a single character
-$35-45 USD for a custom adoptable design (can be as specific about species, markings, and pose as you'd like).
-$25 USD for an icon-style bust with a simple background (can be specific)
-$12 USD for a clean, full-body sketch
+$10 USD for an additional full-body, coloured character of around the same size -Characters much smaller than the original may be discounted or costless-
+$2 USD for any additional, full-body characters of around the same size (sketch) -Characters much smaller than the original may be discounted or costless-
I am willing to do simple nature backgrounds for a negotiable fee, depending on complexity. All coloured pieces will have some form of a colour splash background regardless, though I can provide transparent versions without any background upon request.
EXAMPLES:
>>Will link these in the morning! I'm posting this quite late-- until then, my gallery should suffice<<
I will not draw:
-Excessive gore -Eye horror
I love to draw: (These are things I love to draw, but they're not all I will draw)
-Pokemon -Canines -Dragons of any variety -Gryphons -Pets
Completion times may vary, depending on how I'm feeling. I may breeze through commissions in a couple of days, or I could take a couple of weeks or months. If it takes me awhile to get to your commission, you are welcome to message me and request an update. I will try to post journals warning of any significant delays. Please note that at this time I am not financially stable enough to offer refunds upon request. That being said, if I simply cannot complete a commission for whatever reason, I will refund the amount.
Regarding slots and payment:
If you're interested, please either comment below or send me a note! In terms of payment, I can only accept through Paypal at this time, and in USD pricing. I will ask for a Paypal email to send an invoice to for completing payments.
You are welcome to request more than one commission for your slot.

If you could please note me what you had in mind, that'd be great!
I'm thinking about an Andalite from the Animorphs book series. Andalites are aliens a little like deer centaurs, with bladed prehensile tails long enough to reach in front of them and no mouths on their faces. Since they have mobile extra eyes they can't really turn their heads side to side well. This individual's described as having metallic blue fur, a lost-in-thought aspect, and being "almost" delicate and dainty, "right on the borderline between cute and dangerous", and a bit like a unicorn. I've had him drawn and designed before to have a nyala antelope aspect.
Here's a lineart reference with a head and eyes that are just about perfect. I hope these mildly creepy stalk eyes aren't enough to count as eye horror?

Here's one for color/pattern (doesn't have to be exact) that shows tail anatomy a little more - the blade comes out of the underside, and on the upper side is a hairless pad for grasping.

I'd really like a full bodied color piece and I'm debating background stuff. How's this sound so far?
Ohhh! I've seen some art of this species before and know of them, but I've never seen them this fluffy and I absolutely love it. I'd love to give a go at drawing them! And no worry about the eye stalks, they're absolutely fine.
Hmm, what would you have in mind as far as poses, if you have any in mind?
Cool! Ummm, I don't have a lot of ideas about pose, but most of what I've commissioned from others is a standing or walking view from the side. Your gemsbok picture has this delicacy and specific weight with that angle and interaction with the foreground - I'm not asking for the same pose, understand! - that's a good part of its appeal for me. So... I don't know, I'd be down with anything I guess!
Especially getting closer to the holidays, things can be hectic.
Ohhh okay! I like that idea, doing something similar but not quite the same. I could always make it more angled to the side, looking off into the distance too so it's definitely not the same pose.
As for background, that's really up to you! I can always do a simple foreground as well if not a more complicated background
The books describe the sky there as being red and gold. There may be multiple suns and there are definitely four moons. There's grass that comes in blue, green, and some red, and some trees that have a look of asparagus stalks to them, and others that are kind of psychic and important that individual Andalites bond to and call their Guide Tree(s).
This is the one image we've got of it. You don't need to keep to that colorscheme or the design of those *very* asparaguslike indeed plants, or the barren gray look of that receding landscape.

I'd like this background to be dominated by a Guide Tree, which is only described as being smooth-barked and having vines. The tree doesn't have to be whole thing showing, it could be like this

I also found a couple of alien bonsai designs for inspiration, I like the wispiness of the first one's trailing branches and the way some bright elements shine in it, and the texture and flowers of the viney second one. You can choose different colors and details, it's all good.

I know this is a lot, I can cut down on what I'm asking for!
That first link doesn't work unfortunately, but the others do!
And don't worry, that all sounds fine honestly! Any background that ticks the box of "natural" is much easier and well, natural (pun intended), for me. I like the idea of a tree being the focal point too!
So with the Guide Tree's roots, would you like them more airy (like out of the ground) like the bonsai examples as well? And do you have a preference for your character's size when compared to the tree? I could always adjust it for convenience too (like so that the character and tree both fit together well on the canvas)
https://animorphs.fandom.com/wiki/T.....nicles#Gallery
Cool cool! I think I'd like them not as out in the air as the bonsai, but maybe something like how australian fig trees have these raised roots.

As for size... I'm not sure! I want to say big but not like, redwood type big.
I can definitely play with the size too and adjust if needed. I could always give you a sketch first maybe as well?
So the last thing to discuss would just be price. I'm honestly awful at pricing backgrounds because they take longer, but can vary wildly.
I have two different styles I do for backgrounds. I can do partial lines, with foreground and focal things lined but the rest painted, like this-- https://www.furaffinity.net/view/44286785/
Or something much more painted-- https://www.furaffinity.net/view/42531199/
I can also do more simplistic ones with a sort of colour splash effect around the edges-- https://www.furaffinity.net/view/43511574/
For this commission, I think I'd charge $60 (including character price) for the lined background, or $75 for the full painted. Does that sound fair?
Oh, and since making that comment I found a fanartist who'd done a few landscapes - again, you don't gotta follow that lead, but I like it as a softer, lusher look than the book cover.
https://andalite-apologist.tumblr.com/tagged/scoop
Hmm. You know what, since the tree should be pretty central - let's go $75!
And can do for that sketch!
Alright, awesome! I can add you to my queue now and if you note me your preferred PayPal, I can send an invoice your way. I still have a couple of commissions in the queue before you’re, but I’m putting the finishing touches on the one at the top today.
Possibly with my parrotlet flying along? https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FJY_3xs.....amp;name=large
I'd love to get a background similar to your recent red dragon and gemsbok pieces! certainly willing to pay more for a nice landscape like that :D
What sort of size difference is there between the two? I know how big a parrotlet is, just need to know how big to make your gryphon comparably :3
I love to paint fields too! How would $60 for the full piece sound?
I was thinking the parrotlet would be pretty tiny in comparison - kind of real life size while my gryphon is about the size of a medium dog like a lab.
my email for paypal is ruckra[at]gmail.com :)
And sounds good! :D
I'll add you to my queue now, and I'll send the invoice along as soon as I can!
