I can understand the shortcomings of FA but I do think that Twitter is not exactly ideal for having a gallery. It's difficult to navigate through one's art on that site.

Maybe you can try a hybrid approach? Post art on Twitter and every so often post them here too?

That's the catch. Both have upsides and downsides, so I might just have to split the difference. Other possibility is like a small Discord server for sharing the stuff like some artists have, but most of them have a lot more of a fanbase

Even Discord has downsides too. Mostly to do with moderation of users.
You also run into the problem of people that have accounts here not having an account on other sites. Same goes for Twitter or Discord.
But you do what you think is best for your work, you also aren't obligated to just have one site, you can do more than one; but then you run into the problem of having to post in multiple places.
