If those "art assets" whatever they are, would work on your new computer, and you still have the old one, you might be able to transfer things with the right device, so said here-https://www.instructables.com/How-t.....Dead-Computer/

Just some advice, sorry if I'm too late.

I still have the old one, so I'll try to get to it at some point. The main issues being:
A) It's an iMac, which takes extra work to get to the hard disc drive, and
B) I'm not very tech-savvy.
So I'll just need some extra time and patience to pick at it.

I'm not tech-savvy either, but it's an idea I looked into just in case anything happens to my current computer.

It sounds like this stuff is crucial though, and you might want to consider checking into finding people who are more tech-savvy, and get some advice or even assistance, but either way, it should be worth the time and effort to try. I wish you luck!

In terms of lost art, it mostly means that I lost my in-progress work, so worst-case scenario, I'll have to re-draw everything. There are a couple of long-term projects I would like to recover, but that doesn't have to be done immediately. Probably the biggest loss was my written work, which was all done in a format that won't work on my new computer.

Well, again good luck, hope you do get at least some of it back, since at least still having access to it in some form would be better than nothing...

Are you sure your harddrive is actually broken?
If not then all your data is still there.

Not 100% sure, I just know the computer consistently crashes halfway through booting up. I'll try to retrieve the hard drive at some point.
