Aluminium has a pretentious air to it. I just read it as someone who wants to portray themselves as cosmopolitan but is not really sophisticated or noble.

Aluminium sounds like an exotic magical material. Also sounds like a dragon's name who is a guardian of great treasure.
(Btw in my native language we use aluminium exclusively; there is no such thing as aluminum, and thus is sounds very strange to me.)
