Updates, where I’m at, thoughts, etc.
TLDR; Still around, more stuff eventually maybe, trying not to pressure myself.
It’s been a while since I’ve posted, and I was thinking of working on a new script. So I figured this would be a good time to put something out, let folks know I’m still alive. And to offer a little insight as to where my head is at for those who are curious.
I haven’t had the energy to focus on creative projects as much as I would like over the last few months. I took a break from writing after suffering some burnout pushing through a script last December. It was for a contest posted over on r/gonewildaudio but I didn’t feel it was appropriate to upload here. (I’ll leave a link at the bottom for anyone curious)
It’s just been a year where motivation is in short supply and my batteries are slow to recharge.
During my downtime there has been a lot of thought put into why I’m doing this in the first place. I don’t think I will ever be a prolific writer or hypnotist, I have no desire to be. Putting words to paper has always been difficult, even getting to this point in the journal has taken me over an hour. By the time I'm finished with a script, I’ve been staring at it for so long I never want to come back to it. Furthermore, I don’t really find the idea of hypnotizing others in itself all that appealing. Not that I'm against it, I just strongly prefer being the subject. I enjoy a lot of BDSM themes and I have no dominant streak.
So then what drives me to write?
(Besides my dearest friend, owner, and favorite hypnotist who has given me so much of her love and support through all of this. <3)
My love for Hypnosis, it’s ability to create powerful moments between people, to explore the mind and experience fantasy in very unique and personal ways.
I’ve been practicing as a subject for at least 8 years. In that time I’ve had the pleasure of several live sessions and listened to more files than I can count. I regularly set aside time to trance, and I try to keep up to date on new sessions and hypnotists. Quite frequently there are topics or ideas I want to explore in a session but have no avenue to do so.
Why not commission files or work with a hypnotist one on one? Short answer: I’m weird.
It isn’t the money, I strive to support content creators to the best of my ability, I buy files, and subscribe to several Patreons. It’s just that I would much rather pay someone to continue making things they are into and excited about, than to force someone to make something to my exact specifications. I’ve tried several times in the past, and while I love the work people have done for me, the dynamic just isn’t right in my mind. I like giving people plenty of room to interpret and express their own ideas on-top of the concept I've given them. And when I'm looking for a particular type of file, it can be difficult to find someone who is a good match to get the results I'm looking for.
Working live (over voice or in-person) has its own set of challenges, I don’t have as much privacy as I would like, and it limits how interactive I can be as a subject. It can make sessions feel very one-sided, and I don’t think that’s fair to the Hypnotist, even if no one I’ve played with has ever had a problem with it. It still makes me uncomfortable to ask, I worry about being distracted and potentially wasting their time, so I default to recordings. I’ve been extraordinarily lucky to have very generous and supportive friends who’ve made things happen despite this, and I’m eternally grateful for them.
Anyway, this is why I started scripting. To create the kind of content I can’t find elsewhere. Perhaps to learn a bit more about the inner workings of Hypnosis from the other side as well, gain a deeper appreciation for the art. And to work through some of the issues I have with not only writing, but starting and stopping projects.
Of course creating something for others to enjoy is lovely too. Sharing with the community that has given me so much over the years. <3
Besides getting back into writing, the next step for me is to try my hand at recording and editing a session. The person I’m sharing a room with is looking for a new job, so hopefully their work hours will afford me some private time to experiment with things. I’ve played a little with text to speech, but I think this could be a good opportunity to become more comfortable sharing my voice and getting over the performance anxiety that also inhibits my musical interests.
That’s about it for this mind-dump, thank you for making it this far! If you have anything you would like to share, challenges you face in your own creative process, things that motivate you, tips you think might be helpful, anything, I'd love to hear them. Comment or note.
Take care~
