Switching from PayPal to Square invoicing for commissions
4 years ago
Hi there so from now on I will need to invoice from square instead of PayPal. PayPal has just raised their fees like a ridiculous amount and while being self employed not only does 25% already go right to the government of my income but any shift in percentage in fees leaves me with little to nothing.
For other artists reading this- they raised their fee from 2.9% + 30 cents per transaction to 3.4% + .49 cents per transaction as of August 2nd. If I continued with PayPal that means like up to 29% of any money I make is not mine at all.
Between student loan debt and taxes it’s already hard to survive so I hope you can understand. For anyone who absolutely HAS to use PayPal I can do it but it will cost me more.

Is Square reliable for getting funds out quickly? I've been thinking of switching too due to paypal's awful policies lately, but I can't find a lot of info on it.

for what its worth, its against Paypal TOS to charge extra to customers for using their service.

Why dont you ask for more to cover for the fees, or just use "Friends and family" as a work around the fees?
