When Preacher finds himself in a strange new dimension, on a different version of Earth, where there appears to be anthropomorphic animals and humans alike, he finds himself in trouble in a snap. He's found himself in the island wide city of Covonetta, which appears to have a kind of curse on it. Some of the locals have quite the appetite... and others still are crooks and degenerates. It's there he runs into timid anthro cat Sam, and decides after dodging hungry "preds" and grubby Street rats, that, until he finds his way home, he will be her personal body guard, and figure out what's got the whole island in such a weird state.
