Recently, I got a text from my mother regarding an uncle who died. He, among another, had succumbed to Covid. He was already weakened with his Diabetes. From what I heard from my mother, he passed in his home after requesting to leave the hospital to be transported home. With the care of his family, he finally went to rest.

He was one of my godfathers (while I am agnostic, my mother's side of the family is really religious.) and first born to the family, a similar trait we share. So many memories, yet no longer in this plane of existence. I will miss you, Uncle. Thank you for the memories.

As I reflect on this, I wonder how I can protect my family while I am away from my home state. My father has the weakest immune system in the family, which bring fears of him catching the disease. I recently saw them as I came back from my recent deployment, a great relief that they are fine now. I just fear for the future.
