I'd be immediately suspect of them actually being a furry, seeing as i don't think the average person would have to open with "do you know what furrys are?". Intentionally sounding vague to better hide their own furry-ness is a bit telling.

Reminds me of the time my friend had to explain what e621 was to his mom after they saw a car with an e621 sticker on it's gas cap. (There's got to be some kind of joke there, but I don't see it)

I tell people I'm a fur if I feel its appropriate. I feel we're at a point in time where if one lets themself get SO ABSURDLY LIVID at someone's harmless life choices (such as fandom association), then they too closed minded and have their priorities way too outta whack to be regarded in a seriously.
TLDR: "Imma furry. And I didn't ask if you were ok with it 😎💜"

I believe that there's just something to being involved in the "Furry" fandom that shows in the individual. Is it the pear shaped bodies that hint of a life sitting in front of a computer for hours a day? Is it the wearing of beards or hairstyles that are often unkempt or easy to take care of? Is it wearing simple clothes, or t-shirts with flamboyant images of animals or Native American Motifs? I try not to dress, talk or hint that I'm involved in the Furry fandom in my normal public life, but still, I get stupid people downtown throwing empty booze bottles at me and yelling "WE DON'T WANT YOUR KIND HERE!" What Kind? Sensitive human kind?
