Ask Me Anything - Questions for Zyonji.

Apparently I have a reputation with friends, of never giving easy straight forward answers for their their questions. Frustratingly forcing them to think more and having more questions after receiving my answer. So, why not give you all a chance to experience that. (:
By Great Houses, I was referring to the factions rather than player homes. But if you join the wizard house Telvanni, you are given the opportunity to live in a giant mushroom in a Mordor-like ash waste. Which is obviously pretty ballin'.
What do you love drawing the most? You draw dazzling clothes, so that would be my guess.
And is there any particular part of drawing that you find frustrating, or is all of it engaging and exciting?
What I enjoy painting the most changes a lot over time, because I greatly enjoy developing a deeper understanding of the world through exploring it by painting. But there's the grand topic of self expression which offers near infinite depth, because it's the human mind trying to understand the human mind. The subtleties in body language, facial expressions and clothing are fascinating. Clothing also has that sense of cultural context that allows the wearer to play with expectations of others. To portray intentionality with that is something I enjoy.
When painting something for someone else, the uncertainty whether their desires are interpreted correctly and if the resulting painting will make them happy. Frustration by definition is the result of lack of control over a process' success. So, having someone else arbitrarily determine determine success fulfills the definition of "frustrating."
I find it funny that when I write this, I do continuously second guess what I write - definitely a symptom of being misunderstood a lot in the past, and how I have to rewrite it so much to justify even replying x3
A common thing I feel that a lot of "atypical" people I know feel, that we have to justify our "otherness", which also turns into hyperawareness of how we are different, reinforced by the constant affirmation of how odd it is for us to act the way we do.
I do also think that it could be as simple as the fact that we're curious, both about the world and the people around us. And maybe we answer questions more in depth because that feels more genuine and exciting to us, which is met with mixed response based on what people expect to get out of a question.
There are just so many side to every question, and I am more than happy to explore those, even when it takes me forever to write a simple comment - And when that comment becomes kind of rambling ^^'
The honesty is something I value greatly about it too. It's very human to imitate others in the way we present ourselves. Learning to communicate happens through imitation after all. So we act like others do and see how people around us react, hoping that they react in a way that affirms our self image. And for the few where others don't, we gotta work hard and think hard. And it becomes even worse when there are people out there who think you're trying to get benefits through deception, if you don't fit the role your physiology would suggest. Then you don't need to just defend against misunderstandings, but actively justify your existence.
Anyway, don't worry about rambling here. It's an important topic and we gotta practice to learn how to express ourselves and it's much safer to figure things out with friends. With every time you ramble, your words get distilled into more specific and useful expressions. :D
A lill tangent all in all, but as you said, most of these things don't usually have an "easy" answer that doesn't oversimplify things c:
And on a very related note, you are a fantastically wholesome person and friend, and I always enjoy our lill interactions! Thank you for being there to just ramble with me <3
And thank you for being such a great friend too. We may not talk very regularly, but when we do, I always feel welcomed by you. I'm grateful I get to know you. (:

Is there any species you haven't drawn that you really hope someone commissions you to draw?
In terms of species, I like to paint material differences, but if there was an animal I wanted to paint, I could just paint it and wouldn't need to wait for a commission to do it. What commissioners can uniquely offer is attitude and aesthetic for their characters. What I hope for most is that the character feels genuine in some way. There are two motives I find particularly difficult to work with. First are characters who are only there to have fun. No desires or goals, just indulging in whatever brings joy. And the second are characters exhibiting some sort of self hatred. Thinking of themselves as sort of monster, having their existence defined by wanting to be something else. I like treating painting as a form of communication, with body language and expressions telling everyone who sees them how the character wants to be perceived. Those two concepts don't give a chance for that unfortunately. ):
