On Vacation (not really)...

So, I was sheduled to take vacation from September 2nd....I say "was" because even though I am away from work, it's not a vacation....
So my father had a catheter put in:
Yeah...the Saturday before my vacation started, I had to take him to the (private) hospital because he couldn't urinate. We spent literally the entire day there before the doctor came (he had six prior emergency operations to do apparently). My father had to stay overnight because the doctor had difficulty inserting the catheter into his bladder (my father's 85 BTW).
As to why he could not urinate? Well he had some scarring from a previous surgery done in 2019 on his prostate, so the doctor recommended laser surgery at a cost of $120,000.00 TT. We paid and will claim it back from insurance. The surgury took place on Tuesday (we spent all day at-a different-private hospital and my father had to spend the night there for observation).
What's worse than dealing with one catheter? Try two!
Yeah...they put in another catheter which'll be removed next week Thursday (hopefully). But yeah, it's a drag having to deal with two of them now.
There a lot more going on, but it's not as bad as when I'd taken vacation in July 2015 to take care of my mother. Still...I may have to apply for more leave (which the company'd probably be happy to give because I'm one of those guys whose said leave is in excess).
One may note I haven't mentioned my brother....he's...started back smoking and drinking...I'm not ready to deal with that yet as dealing with my father's taking all my energy.
Jeez, it seems every other journal I post is a downer journal now...

Thanks, Train.
As for your brother... is he signed up for the organ donor program...?
But yes, good point. When a neighbor's stepson died in a motorcycle accident, they found he had a donor card. When the surgeons finished the prep, they realized he had nothing to give but his corneas. His heart, lungs and liver were basically compost.
so yeah....
I think so?
This is worth keeping in mind if anyone in your family attempts to guilt-trip you over something else, let alone have the gall ever to go "Well, if you're doing X, then why not Y, too~?"
Hang in there, lad. Remember you have chums here.
Yeah, it's stuff like this is the reason why having insurance is a godsend. Of course, my father is an insurance salesman too, so there's that...
