It would only be right to have our main competitor be a psycologicaly based predator that can overcome our intuition. Now, skinwalkers fit that bill perfectly, yet have way more advanced genetics which may suggest that they have had more time to evolve on another planet where the dominate species is a physcologically based species. but was picked up and droped off here by aliens whether intentionally or unintentionally.
Skinwalkers were ment to pick off and feed on small groups of people. A couple campers would die ot them very easily. At the time we were a tribel species and aliens thought we'd stay like that for millions of years based on their own evelutionary speed. The tribes would slowly be killed of by skinwalkers yet, we evolved and adapted too fast for them to be effective. Our population grew and our people learned to fear the uncanny. We can detect things that are weird and get scared to save ourselves. For example, the skinwalker can repeat the exsact audio uttered to replicate a vioce and lure people away. However, a reminent of tribel natrual selection is the ability to spot very minute descrepincys. Evolving a better ability to percieve saved us so now when the skinwalker repeats "Help" in the same speed, tone, volume and pitch we freeze and feel the overwhelming urge to run away and not go near. Just like how if deer hear a twig break, even though they dont see anything they take off.

mind reading is detection of energy that can be evolved more. Kind of how eyes used to be a single photo receptior that would tell the cell in the ocean to sink or rise to either gain light to photosynthesis or to sink and avoid the UVC that can only penetrate the ocean so far.

There is no purpose to man. The feeling of shame for spending my money like it's required. Going broke because "ooo it's on sale now". Feeling of man is wild, it's flawed. Greed fueled preservation in cavemen but fuels destruction in modern man. It's only right to fine purpose in pursuit of better men. Whether they be created out of random happenstance or created in a lab. The only thing I feel is the urge to work for a cause, to find a purpose to justify my pain.

Consciousness is a coping mechanism of high end foresight. Developing character and personality creates artificial rareity. This is how futility, a byproduct of farsighted foresight is countered to preserve the genetic drive to survive. Darwinism favored very good foresight. This foresight lead to knowledge of ones own death. The knowledge, if only processed by the left brain would die because it's pointless to survive. However, darwinism favors survival traits and one of the traits manifested is a faux sense of value: perspectives of ones self. "I want, I will, I am" is a newer part of the brain that only developed recently. Personality is a way to cope with a lack of value.
Emotions revolving around ones self is a purely human trait. If you step on a dog's paw, the dog will remember pain and avoid you. Unless you pose as valuable. Humanity is valuable to dogs because we are the dominant species. Mimicking human emotions may be a darwinistic trait manifested from domestication. They don't have a sense of self like humans do. They think in very short foresighted lengths. Humanity knows it will die. The dog feels hungry and whines for food. Humanity is an absurdly unique machine. An orca's brain operates like a human brain while also sporting more advanced and developed parts than us. However, due to a lack of being land based and sporting fingers and thumbs, they never developed writing or anything past caveman thought processes. So, their communication is that of a prehistoric tribe. Humanity is an absurdly unique species given the faculties of genetics lined up perfectly with ability to continue non-genetic development; e.i. learned information.

The leaders of tomorrow worked yesterday and today. The more a system feels broken the more you're needed in society and the more you should push toward your calling.
Nothing worth doing was ever easy. All animals and creatures of this planet take the path of least resistance and survive. Us humans don't, we work towards goals despite the pain and because of that we thrive.

Humanity is not prepared to deal with AI, we have too many flaws that would lead to our extinction and our positive traits aren't strong enough. Making a better species with all the good traits of a person and less of the bad ones would be better suited to survive the singularity. Although genetic engineering will be seen as completely unethical an illegal, succession of humanity by an enhanced species will need to happen to be able to let intelligent biologic life survive the great filter known as the singularity.
