Beer, Bourbon, & BBQ
General | Posted 11 years agoSo after a very busy and amazing Fur The 'More. I think it's time I relax and have a fun time the the Beer, Bourbon, BBQ fest thats happening right down the street from the FT hotel. It's going to be a great time. If you aren't doing anything Saturday (03_22_14), this festival would be a great option. So excited to go and hope I see people I know.
FT Over
General | Posted 11 years agoHolly hell! Just got home and starting to nod off into a small coma.
This con was amazing! I was very busy most of the time however I did have a blast. The Zombie Dead Dog cards against humanity pizza karaoke singalong party was fantastic. That was hands down the best moment of any con I've ever attended.
Now I have the monumental task of going through this video footage and building something fun to watch. I am super excited to start editing it up to something you will enjoy. I had a wonderful team and great volunteers who got some amazing footage and I can't thank them enough. John and Logarth Sheppy were so great and easy to work with plus Kiba was generous and gave us his footage to add into the final video. You all were amazing. Thank you.
And thank you to all that attended FM. You all made this an event I will never forget and will always look back and make me smile.
Now that I'm passing out on the keyboard I should stop and sleep.
REVISED: Oh crap I was so sleepy when I wrote this I forgot to give a HUGE thanks to
ratchet3305 for giving us a ton of help with all of AV. You sir are amazing and it was an honor to work with you.

General | Posted 12 years agoI've been working on eating better and losing weight. Here is a dinner option I started making. It's spaghetti squash in a tomato cream.
To cook the squash just wash and leave whole. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Place foil on a sheet tray and place the whole squash on tray. Important! Stab holes into the squash to allow steam to escape. Roast for about one hr. Once its done carefully cut in half lengthwise and let cool.
While the squash is cooling make the sauce. The basic ingredients needed are Garlic, Tomato paste, Cream Sherry, & Plan Greek Yogurt. I also like to add vegetables to mine. I like adding 1 large Onions, 1 large Pablano Pepper and 1lbs of Mushrooms. You can add any type of veggie you like. I also like to add some spice to mine in the form of chilpotle peppers in adobo sauce. Both vegetables and spice are completely optional to your specific tastes
First add a little bit of oil and saute all the vegetables (sliced) in a pot. Once the veggies are cooked and 9 oz tomato paste and spice (I like to mince two chilpotle peppers and and a tad of the adobo sauce.) I also like to add some italian dry herbs at this point. Basil, thyme, oregano. That sort of thing. (I also want to try and add some nutmeg but haven't tried that yet. Once I do I'll update this.) Cook together for around five minutes then add the cream sherry. ***BE CAREFUL OF OPEN FIRE AND THE SHERRY! COULD FLAME UP!*** Use around 2 to 3 cups of the sherry and let reduce for a few minutes stirring and scraping bottom to avoid scorching. Next reduce heat to almost off and add the yogurt. Add a little at a time and taste. Yogurt has a sour taste and can over power the dish quickly. I tend to use around 6 to 10 ozs. Once it's all mixed I like to add a cup and a half of parmesan cheese. That's the sauce.
Return to the squash and remove the seeds. (I like to take the seeds and roast them with some cajon spice and spray with some butter favored cooking spray. They make a nice snack) Be careful for the squash is still a tad warm, which is good. Scoop the squash out of the shell and add to the sauce. When stirring in the sauce the squash will brake up into strands the mimic spaghetti. Once the squash is all added and mixed in turn heat off. it's done!!
And that's it. You can add any type of meat you'd like. Chicken, pork, beef, shrimp. I think it would all work really well. I especially like the idea of Blackened Shrimp or chicken. I'd blacken the chicken and then when cooked slice and mix right into the finished dish.
If you have any questions I can try to answer them the best I can. If you try it please let me know how it turned out for you and what you did different to make it your own :)

New Years 2014!!
General | Posted 12 years agoOk so another year has come and gone. I for one am glad to be moving on. I've got quite a number of changes going to be happening within the next year.
1. I'm losing my pizza delivery gig. I really enjoyed this job. I'm truly going to miss it. The money was super and I loved driving around. Now with my hair cut I was really looking forward to driving with my windows down. I can still do that just without getting paid. Haha
2. I have a new project that I'm developing. It involves music and my suit. I've already started hashing things out and progress is a happening. It should take shape around March during FurTheMore... The only thing that will stop the debut would be if I don't get my head back from being refurbished.
3. New job. Since i'm losing the pizza gig I was thinking of taking it easy for a minute but thats not really me. So I'll be getting a second job doing something. Maybe waiting tables or a new delivery job. That'd be nice.
4. I've got a few other things in the works but I'll save those for posts of their own on a later date.
Right now. I want to wish everyone a safe and happy new year! Let's make 2014 a truly amazing year!!

Jury Duty
General | Posted 12 years agoSo tomorrow is my first Jury Duty ever. I don't want to go because I feel it will be a hassle but then I also think it could be quite interesting and I might meet some cool new peeps. We'll see.
No FurFright for me.
General | Posted 12 years agoSo I will not be making FurFright this year. I'm sad I won't be going but looking forward to next year. Looks like my next con will be NYFB. I also won't have my suit for a little while. I'm sending him on a trip to WhiteWolf to get a bit of touchup work. I'm going to miss him but he's going to look amazing once I get him back. Hope to see you all soon.
The return from FAU
General | Posted 12 years agoWell, I'm back home. FAU always is such a wonderful time for me. I'm super happy to be on the staff and help out with all the A/V stuffs. It's something I'm very proud to be a part of.
Thank you to everyone who attended
costello
kitt3ns and my Wine & Cheese party. I hope to step up the game next year. It's a highlight of the con for me. I couldn't have been happier with the turn out.
The funniest thing came from
fidgetthebat and his prank on
costello with the aborted fetus and the shenanigans that ensued.
Everyone should take time out gather some friends and play SpaceTeam. It's a crazy exciting game that is entertaining to watch as much as it is to play. Find it on your phone in the app store.
Thanks to
catofmount for letting us crash in his room on thursday so we would have a great jumpstart on the ballroom even tho I got there when most everything was set up. Tho there was still plenty to do on friday morning.
Sadly I didn't get to suit at all mostly because I was nervous that I'd be in suit and then suddenly be needed in the ballroom to set some up something. Tho,
lildobe had everything under mad control. Seriously, he was on top of everything. I'll get my suiting in sometime in the near future.
Every year I cry through most of closing ceremonies. Actually tearing up a bit right now while typing this. It's amazing to me how we get together to have a giant party and dress like animals and in the process help out a fantastic organization like the NJSPCA. It just warms my heart for real.
Thank you everyone who made FAU so great!!

FAU Room space?
General | Posted 12 years agoI might have to head up to FAU on thursday night to help set up all the AV stuffs. Not sure when the gear is getting there and not sure when we can get into the main ballroom.
However I want to start as early as possible. And if the gear is getting there Thursday night and we can get in the room I would love to take advantage of that time.
To this end I do not have a room for Thursday night. Does anyone have space for me that night if I need it?

Internet ON!
General | Posted 12 years agoSo I have the internets again. I keep it in the corner where it sits quietly.
No internets.
General | Posted 12 years agoI will be off Fa for a unknown amount of time. I am having internet provider issues and will be back once they get resolved.
See you then.
See you then.
Going on things.
General | Posted 12 years agoSo I've been quite busy lately which is a good thing. First my two jobs are going well and I cut back my hrs at my second job until september so it's nice to have more free time. Tho it's anything but free. Like in a few minutes I'm running off to film a friends comic set.... They call them sets right, like bands have a set, a comic has a set too. I know not these things. My freelance video is rolling along. Wish I had more of them but whatever. Doing something tonight with it so, yeah. That's cool.
Also I've been playing the bass a ton more lately and it feels good to be back in the groove. A lot of old tunes i'm starting to remember and writing bits to other bits I already had written. I think I might they getting or joining a band again tho that never seems to happen. My mead making hobby is going smashingly only the place I like to by my honey is out atm so I have to wait on them to get more in. I do have three batches rolling, one regular, one cyser, and one regular with sweet potato and cinnamon mixed it. That last one smells so great and can't wait to give it a small taster on Monday.
So, yeah, things are going pretty well and I'm having a lovely summer. Hope you are having one too.

After Anthrocon
General | Posted 12 years agoHad so much fun and the time went by it a flash. My main goal was to suit and I did just that. I spent around 7 hrs each day in suit milling around and having fun.
One of the highlights in suit was handing out all the Musical Balloons with Costello. I hope everyone that got one had as mush fun as we did handing them out. Also going to the Matthew Ebel show in suit was a blast. I enjoyed every minute and I finally got to talk with
runtt I would have talked to him sooner if I wasn't always so fan shy around him. Glad to be getting over that. I also bumped into him while suiting and we got some of my fav picture of the whole con thanks to his BF
satyrwilder http://www.furaffinity.net/view/11041006/ http://www.furaffinity.net/view/11041060/ Love them sooo much!! THANK YOU!
My favorite moment of the con was Protocollies set during the dance. There was so much energy and you could see the joy and happiness in his face while spinning. It was so awesome to see.
As usual I didn't hang out with nearly as many ppl as I was hoping too. Sorry I missed you all. On the flip side to that I did get to know bunch of ppl a lot better so it's a give and take.
It was definitely a walking con. I walled so much, I even walked over to Primanti bros in the middle of the night with around 30 other ppl. It was also a stair con. Luckily we had a room on the 6th floor and I used the stairs around 50 times in the corse of the weekend. We even unloaded the room on monday that way. It took us 4 trips up and down to get everything down. It wasn't that bad and much easier then waiting for the elevator. No other vacation I have every taken have I felt more in shape afterwards.
Then after I left downtown I went to my old chefs new restaurant, Zuppas. Primanti bros has nothing on these guys when it comes to sandwiches minus the fry and coleslaw schtick. I had the Ruebenator which was the best rueben I've EVER HAD in my life. I can assure you I have had many so I know what i'm talking about. They are in talks and might be opening a location downtown a few blocks from the DLCC. If all goes well they will be open for business for AC next year. I hope so I would go there every day! Here is their website so you can take a gander at it. http://www.zuppasdeli.com/
Well that's all I got for this Journal. Thanks for reading and caring about what I have to say.
Thank yon Anthrocon for being around. It's my favorite time of year hands down. I have met so many awesome people and I wouldn't have met my best friend if it wasn't for you. The skywalk over Penn Ave will forever be a sacred place for me. Thank You

Started brewing again.
General | Posted 12 years agoSo around ten years ago I was into brewing mead. I stopped because the people that helped me brew moved away. It wasn't as much fun to do with them gone. All my gear got lost or destroyed since then except for my 11 five gallon carboys. Recently,
costello started brewing wine and was picking my brain about tips and stuff. I remembered quite a bit about it. After a few days of talking about brewing he kinda rekindled my fire and with a bit of encouragement from him I decided to reinvest some money and time and start up my own brew works again.
I didn't need to much equipment since I had my carboys and the primary fermentor. I also found a brew store very close to where I live. They aren't much help in the mead department because they brew primarily beer but thats ok because I have a good grasp on how to go about it and they have all the gear I need.
costello on the other hand has a bangin' store near him and we took a visit there and the mead guru was able to fill in the holes in my memory of my experiences.
So since I lost all my notes from my last go round I decided to start fresh. I got a real basic recipe from the mead guru and started one last week. So far it seems to be doing well. I started a new notebook because I have a ton of recipes I want to start making and keeping track of. I will most likely be making 1 to 2 batches a month at about 5 gallons each.
Since mead takes some time to brew I won't have any ready until the end of this year. I'm really excited to start developing my recipes also I believe I will also start some collaborative wines with
costello which i'm stoked for.

New/old Venture
General | Posted 13 years agoSo a few years ago I used to do freelance event videography. Well I'm starting up again. I only have a SD camera so I thought that people wouldn't be into SD. I just recently found out that was way wrong. If you give someone a HD price and say SD would be $200 less, guess who's going to want SD. So I am getting back in the game. I have plans on buying a nice sweet HD camera around the beginning of next year and expanding from there.
It's a very exciting time thats for sure.

Hampdenfest Mac & Cheese Cookoff
General | Posted 13 years agoHampdenfest: September 8th! http://hampdenfest.blogspot.com/2012/05/september-8th.html?spref=tw
Yes I will be competing in the Mac & Cheese cookoff this year. I have developed a mac and cheese which I am really proud of. If you are in the Baltimore area on Saturday come on down to 36th street in Hampden and cheer me on. You can also buy a ticket and become a tasting judge. The rules state I can't stand by my dish and/or tell people which one is mine to vote for. So if you do decide to be a judge, vote for your favorite (I hope it's mine). I am sure there will be plenty of awesome dishes out there.
NOTE** The poster states the tasting is from 2-4 but I was told it's from 12-2 so if you plan on stopping by come early

My FA:U (WARNING!! IT'S A BOOK!)
General | Posted 13 years agoOk... So... I don't normally make journals of my con going experiences but I guess this time i'll give it a go. Mainly because this was one of my all time favorite con travels. Now, here is my con recap.
Thursday:
I left work a hour early because I didn't take a lunch break and was trying to dodge traffic. Traffic was had but not so bad. I think it added around 30 mins to my ride. Not the worst, not the best. My destination was
costello &
Tanyar place. I pulled into the parking lot and there were no cars so I was starting to wonder if anyone was home. I turn around to see COSTELLO pulling in about to run me over. Sitting next to him looked was what liked a little boy and while I was dodging the car I was wondering why COSTELLO was driving around with a little kid. Then I realized it was
origamigryphon which was a super surprise because I haven't seen OG since she left to defend to world from evil tyranny, almost a year ago. So it was a great reunion.
We went inside and had a fun youtube party and I was busying myself with cleaning a box fan I was bringing with me. When I was almost done with the fan TANYAR came home and made fun of me cleaning a fan. Then we headed out on a journey to Wal-mart to get a few things I forgot to pack and get some quick grub at Tacobell. I made fast friends with the counter person and he helped me decide to try one of the new cantina bowls. Went home and tore up the food, (which was great for taco bell) and continued the youtube party. I had the bright idea to have a coors light with some of the hot sauce packets from taco bell... gross.... Natty Bo and Cholula hot sauce is good. This was not.... After that we called it an early night.
Friday:
We got up early, a bit before 7am because we had to hit the road. Said our sad goodbyes to TANYAR because she was not coming with us. TANYAR you were missed. We carpooled with COSTELLO & ORIGAMIGRYPHON in one car and me in the second. I was so proud of COSTELLO He drives like a speed demon and I drive like a gray muzzle. But he showed great restraint and didn't leave me in the dust and waited at the pay stations for me. I am thankful to him for this. We finally get to the home of the gentleman who was supplying us the lighting equipment. The guy was awesome and very no mess around strait forward but helpful and kind. I like that when doing business. We fussed around shifting things to make everything fit. Played a bit of car Tetris but we got everything to fit in the two cars. Then it was off to the convention.
We arrived at the hotel in the early afternoon and unloaded all the gear. We entered the main ballroom and liked the stage setup. At the very moment we were saying how this was going to be nice the employees at the hotel informed us they were breaking down everything and building it differently for us and it won't be ready till around 3. On top of that we also found out we couldn't check in until 4. So we all went to go reg. ORIGAMIGRYPHON ran off to get in the reg line and COSTELLO and myself checked in and got our staff reg completed. Then we decided to kill some time and hit the bar. That bar knows how to make amazing Black & Tans. The place was a bit pricey but it was a nice place. So we had a beer and a flatbread for lunch and then ran off to see how the ballroom was going.
Lucky for us they were ready for us to bring our gear in early, around 2. I met the sound guy
lildobe while he was bringing in all his gear. This guy is very talanted and is the Technology & Website Administrator for WPAFW. He was fun to work with. We set up all the audio and light rather quickly and we did a sound check and lighting setup for Matthew Ebel, aka
hali which went rather smooth. The rest of the night consisted of drinks, pizza, going to the Mattew Ebel's show. Which was a great fun time. I was a bit under the influence at the time so I hope I wasn't to loud during the show. After the show we went back to the room and hung out with all the roomies. ORIGAMIGRYPHON
floppybelly
kitt3ns COSTELLO and myself. Things get a bit blurry here but sometime in the course of the night I decide the fan I brought along should die because it was making a clacking sound. I Gears OF War foot stomped it and put the remains in the hallway. Then we all called it an early night because we were all dead tired.
Saturday:
Everyone got up around 8:30 and I was informed that I stopped on the fan while it was still running. Not my smartest moment in time. But I wasn't hurt. KITT3NS had to run around and get down to run the dealers den. FLOPPYBELLY went down to sign up to see if she could get a table to sell her art. After everyone cleaned up and FLOPPYBELLY came back we headed out for some quick breakfast and Dunkin Donuts. While there we noticed a booze shop next store so we popped in there to up our alcohol supply. Turns out they have a fancy cheese section and it's cheese tasting day!!! Lucky us. So we have the lady open so many cheeses and had a grand ol time. During this time we decide to have a wine and cheese party so we bought four kinds of cheese some crackers and two bottles of wine. We had to rush back because we were having so much fun we lost track of time and FLOPPYBELLY was selected for a table and had to be there to claim it. Sadly, we didn't make it in time and she lost out... Sorry FLOPPYBELLY, I still feel bad about that.
ORIGAMIGRYPHON, COSTELLO and myself all got suited up and ran off to be a part of the fursuit parade. We really wanted to do it because of the $10 donation that was added to the total per suiter in the parade. Waiting around was bearable because
shiacoft brought a little cd player down and was blasting PSY - Gangnam Style. So we were all doing the dances from that video. Such a fun time. If you don't know the dance here is the video of the song.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9bZkp7q19f0&feature=related
After the parade we all went to be in the group picture. I was in the very back so the only thing I could do was raise my paws in hopes they at least got in the shot. Then we went and chilled in the headless lounge were we met
rawz_the_tiger and we all scooted off down to the bar of a few drinks in suit. Then after hopping out of suit we headed off to get some of tastiest mexican food I ever had at www.titosburritos.com. If you find yourself nearby, stop in. You won't be disappointed.
After we got back RAWZ_THE_TIGER bounced off to his room and ORIGAMIGRYPHON slipped into a food coma. COSTELLO and I were sleepy but we realized we told a lot of people about the wine and cheese party but only had two bottles of wine. So we ran off back to the wine store and picked up eight more bottles. When we got back we had to go and set up Look Left for there show. We get to the ballroom and the auction is still going on and running late. So we sit and watch as KITT3NS and
skippyfoxcub have a bidding battle over a signed LookLeft CD which also included LookLeft writing a song for the highest bidder and the band members would to the Truffle Shuffle during their set. It was kinda crazy watching it go on. I think the winning bid was $333 with KITT3NS as the owner of the said LookLeft prize pack. Once the auction was over we started setting up LookLeft. It went rather smooth. I hope people were happy with the lighting setup. I take full blame if you thought it was awful. I did the best I could with what we had to work with. The show was amazing. I seriously love this band. I think they have high quality tunes and they are all, every one of them, the nicest people you'll ever meet in the realm of musicians. Go check them out if you haven't yet http://lookleft.us/
After the show we headed off to the room and started the wine and cheese party. We only invited a small number of people but the grand total was around 40 heads in the room. All in all the party was chill and everyone acted sane and no one caused any problems or broke anything. NOT EVEN A WINE GLASS!! We borrowed all the wine glasses from the pricey wine fountain. Every time we passed by there we would grab a handful of glasses. I think we almost had enough. We bought some rice crackers which tasted like farts so we called them Fart Crackers. All the wine, cheese and crackers were gone by 1am, which is a great time to end a party. The room emptied almost instantly after the wine was tapped. It was nice. We then walked the halls with
peppercoyote and end up back in his room for a bit. And we hung with the guitar player from LookLeft, Derek and their percussionist, Matt, who was passed out. Derek was being a true friend keeping an eye on Matt thought his drunken slumber. Derek was nice enough to share his fried chicken with me which hit the spot since I only had wine and cheese since the www.titosburritos.com.
We next ended up downstairs and ran into KITT3NS and
catofmount coming out of the bar. Apparently CATOFMOUNT had bought quite a few drinks for KITT3NS because he was three sheets past three sheets to the wind. I gladly took the last drink from KITT3NS and we helped him upstairs and into the room. ORIGAMIGRYPHON & FLOPPYBELLY were both asleep so we ended up in the bathroom. I was giving KITT3NS sports drink before he passed out to try and fend of a horrible hang over. At some point KITT3NS needed to use the bathroom and shooed COSTELLO and i out of the bathroom so we went out in the hall. Right when we enter the hallway who comes walking by?
mysteryotter so we start goofing around out in the hall. KITT3NS joins in on the fun and I guess we were a bit loud because right when I was taking a picture the person in the room across the hall pops her head out to say it's cool but we should quiet down. http://www.furaffinity.net/full/8710982/ So all four of us go back into the bathroom and have a fun bathroom party. http://www.furaffinity.net/full/8711025/ After a while we decide to hit the halls again. We found a
dark-dragoncat sleeping on the floor. COSTELLO woke her up and she was pretty upset so he talked her into calming down and instead of sleeping in the hallway she should sleep on the floor in our room. MYSTERYOTTER, KITT3NS and I continued to party for a bit longer on the elevator. We rode it up and down a few times including whoever come onto the elevator. After that we parted ways with MYSTERYOTTER and headed back to the room to finally get some sleep. After everyone was settled I realize I had to grab some pain pillz for KITT3NS in the morning. So I headed off to the front desk. On my way I ran into RAWZ_THE_TIGER who was lost and was having a hard time finding his room. I helped him find his room ran downstairs bought some drugs and ran back to the room to pass out.
Sunday/Monday:
Sunday was very relaxing. We mostly took it easy went to breakfast with a whole crew of people. Came back and went to the Miracle fruit Panel. Stuff is crazy. Makes lemon juice taste like lemonade. It changes the flavors of food. Mostly takes away bitter and sour. We tried apple, vinegar, dill pickles, dark chocolate, grapefruit slices, and tomatoes. Being the alcohol connoisseurs that COSTELLO and I are we took some of the miracle fruit and went to the bar to try some guinness and IPA. ORIGAMIGRYPHON still didn't like the beer even with the enhancement of the miracle fruit. While there we decided to head back out to www.titosburritos.com one last time.
When we got back it was almost time for closing ceremonies. I was teary eyed all during closing ceremonies. Everything was very touching. After awhile I just wanted it to end because the realization set in that I had to strike the stage and head home, which is a 3 hr drive. Once everything was finished we broke down that stage like mad men. Everything went almost smooth. After that COSTELLO took LILDOBE and I out for a drink and LILDOBE shared some of this fantastic rum cake with us. Once the beer and cake where gone we parted ways with LILDOBE and headed to the room. There I got a bit choked up saying goodbye to KITT3NS and then got more choked up when saying goodbye to ORIGAMIGRYPHON and COSTELLO and FAU.
On the ride home it was nice but my only regret this entire con happened on the way home. I stopped to get gas and a bite to eat. Went to a Roy Rogers and got two cheese burgers which totaled almost 10 bucks. They were probably the most expensive and awful tasting burgers I've ever had. Then on my way into DE I got into a fight with the toll person because I said I gave her a $20 and she said I gave her a $10. We stood there for about 10 mins arguing and then finally she gave me information to contact to view the camera so I was on my way again. Sadly.... on my way home from there I realized I was in the wrong and felt like a giant D-bag. Got home loaded out and at around 1am passed out for work the next day....
WOW!!! Sorry for such a long journal. Like I said in the beginning I don't normally do these. Now I know why. I don't really expect to many people to read this all the way till the end but I will like to go back and read it right before next years FAU and remember all the fun that was had. Thank you all so much for all the fun. I left out a bunch of people and I'm sorry for that. Even if you weren't listed you still had a part of this con being one of my best ever.
THANK YOU ALL SO VERY MUCH!!!
