That's right today I turn 32! I don't feel that old though, I really am starting to believe that age is just a number and you're only as old as you think you are if you take care of yourself. If you have any cupcakes or cakes today have a toast for me!

My friend is in a bit of a situation. She's a lovely realistic artist and a great all around person. I met her first at FA:U and she was hosting panels about perspective and hands and feet. Her awesome turn of phrase and personality was amazing and she needs help. Sandy's gone, luckily I didn't suffer more then a few minutes of power outtage but we had water and food in case we did. Got a few days off though which was good for my halloween picture. Hilarious thing is the only power outage we noticed was after the storm and I said "Really?!" which is a much reduced way of saying the storm has already passed and NOW the power goes out, really? Almost as soon as I said it, everything started back up. Stay safe those in NJ and NY. You're in my thoughts.

So I may be out of touch for a few days to a few weeks. Sandy is coming and no one knows exactly how hard she'll hit. I'm personally praying for a few days off work, electricity optional but wanted. I'll probably draw, craft, play board games with my boyfriend without electricity, watch endless tv and still draw and craft with. The upcoming holiday season is my favorite time of year and I love Halloween to kick it all off! This year I have something very important I didn't last year, money and yet the icons I really wanted the artists aren't around or aren't offering this year. Bleh. Guess I'll have to make my own! Time to learn gif making.

1. Who are you?
That can be a very complicated question, or a very simple one. Simple: I am me, a changing being depending on age, season, or situation made up of her past with hopes and dreams for the future. Complicated: I am both, Acrila, my online persona and Sommer my real life name. Acrila herself has gone through many changes mostly having to do with species, but she's representative of who I want to be, how I wish to act, my soul when all the complications of life is stripped away. Then there is Sommer, a decently paid loan counselor from a highly regarded federal institution who works their helpline assisting newer customer service representatives with answering borrower questions, I love this part of the job. However, I also process forms and attempt to not be horribly bored by it. Then I go home, play games and draw as much as I can in the hopes of getting betters so that she can get comissions, someday. All the while I have some crippling fears that attempt to keep me up at night and a crappy condition called Fibromyalsia which causes constant pain and depression for no reason. I can be unreasonably angry, cry at the drop of the hat when I’m emotional and hate myself for it, but mostly I attempt to be calm and happy person who enjoys life.

2. What are the 3 most important things everyone should know about you?
1. I have been mated for almost 8 years now
1. I am a straight shooter, what I say is what I mean, I may couch it in terms so you’ll take it easier or if I’m pissed throw caution to the wind and give you it straight from the unicorn’s mouth but I’m honest at all times.
3. I try to be understanding to other people’s personalities or moods, given whatever situation they may be going through or how they grew up but I do not tolerate being rude, nasty, selfish, or indecisive people and even if I don’t say anything my perception of you will be colored and you will find me scarce. Race, religion, nationality, sexual preference, political party, favorite (insert sport here) team, and having views different from yours are not acceptable reasons to be a jerk to someone. We can be accepting and get along if we open our hearts and minds.

3. When you aren't doing memes like this one what are you doing?
Working 12-9, then games like the Sims or Second life or a MMO of my choice, watching fantasy, sci-fi and anime movies and shows, Farscape currently, drawing and trying to improve.

4. List your classes in school from the ones you like the most to the ones you like the least (or if you are out of school, think of the classes you did like and didn't like at the time).
What I remember art was a big one, english, Spanish, science, math, music, history, gym.

5. What is your biggest goal for this year?
To save up enough money to pay off Myst’s debt so he can go into the airforce.

6. Where do you want to be in 5 years?
Drawing for a living, no matter how poor, married with children

7. What stage of life are you in right now?
The responsible and dependable stage while still chasing my dreams, feeling like I have things figured out more then before.

8. Are you more child-like or childish?
Child-like, I enjoy things a child would however in a mature fashion.

11. Have you ever taken martial arts classes?
Once or twice at college when I went for a month or so, and once at an independent class where one of the students decided to poke me with a staff to goad me into fighting. I laid her ass out since staff is one of my strengths, years of playing with sticks as a child.

12. Does your life tend to get better or worse or does it just stay the same?
If I actually am IN my life and participate in it it gets better and better, if I neglect it and zone out it goes to shit.

13. Does time really heal all wounds?
I have a forgiving soul, so it first dulls it so I can deal with it, then it turns to anger, derision over such a small thing, then forgiveness and is gone from my life.

14. How do you handle a rainy day?
Depends on the time of year, spring storms are beautiful when the sun shines down though the rain so I watch those. Fall is depressing so I may hit the candles to make an intimate cozy setting and perhaps draw, cuddle watch some tv or play a game.

15. Which is worse...losing your luggage or having to sort out tangled holiday lights?
I gotta agree with the mate on this one. Losing luggage, that’s my STUFF for crying out loud. Tangled holiday lights is like well hmm, is it the kind that stays lit? Because we can cut those if things get too hairy! Otherwise lets turn on a Christmas special and talk while we figure it out.

16. How is (or was) your relationship with your parents?
Dad has always been afraid of becoming his father, an alcoholic with a pension for hitting women and children. So he’s always been hands off which has led to an increasingly distant relationship. Mom has always been everything for me. Disciplinarian and friend, as a child she was super cool since she was young enough to keep up with the times with her tastes. She was also too young perhaps and was a little harsh with her judgments when I did something wrong but I loved her and looked up to her as a determined, charismatic, strong woman. I did however go through a point in my life where I wasn’t leading it and she didn’t like that our relationship became strained and then non existent for a few years but it’s back to old times now with the added bonus of she’s proud of me.

17. Do you tend to be aware of what is going on around you?
More so then most other people, I think.

18. What is the truest thing that you know?
Love is universal and should be an expansive idea, never closed off or narrow, so it should be given to everyone.

19. What did you want to be when you grew up?
Starting from earliest to oldest ballerina, archeologist, teacher, writer, graphic artist, now I’m settling on graphic novelist or manga artist :P

20. Have you ever been given a second chance?
Yep can’t think of any off hand.

Taker although how often I wish it wasn’t so, sometimes I am too impatient with people to wait to be a giver or afraid my efforts won’t be recognized and I’m strong so take it is.

My condition, and it’s everyday, mostly back aches when I wake up and being unable to sleep, but sometimes I will get random pain that I cannot explain in odd bits of my body.

24. What is the most emotionally painful thing that has ever happened to you?
Breaking up with my boyfriends was always the most emotionally painful thing. Losing family was sad but they went to a better place and were free from pain. Not being wanted when I loved someone else was way worse.

This would be the reason I didn't post Sunday's Con Report yet. I'm still beating off the germs. I started to get a scratchy throat on Saturday by Thursday it became fullblown whatever it was. Scratchy throat, sneezing, coughing, aches and a fever, I ended up going home early and then staying home on Friday...not even to do fun things! Just sleeping mostly. I think I may be over it now, I hope at least enough for work ;.; Ah well.

Even from looking at the schedule I knew today was going to be packed. We wanted to go everywhere! So Myst got up early and headed to dunkin donuts. He comes back with a bag and a dozen donuts nearly gets mauled on the way to our room. Not to mention there was a donuts zombie in the escalator, but back to that later. We eat and scramble for the Hands and Feet: A return to understructre by The instructions for hands and feet were simple and easy to follow plus she had everyone roaring again. I'm not sure if this woman should be a stand up comedian a teacher or an artist she's good at all of them. After that we ran off for lunch and the dealer's den. This is where we saw the donut zombie again! and she was still up for a donut so I had Myst gather her one and she gave him a sketch in return, pretty freaking awesome. I got a twilight sparkle keychain from her she makes pretty pretty chainmail and scale bracelets and as usual wonderful art. At this point I forget if I had the great conversation with at her table on Saturday or Sunday but in either case go see her work, beautiful vibrant colors big expressive eyes and gorgeous poses, she does a comic that looked good as well. So we left the dealers den at this point and hit up the voice acting workshop of and I was pleasantly surprised. He asked audience members to come up and give it a try, some people were really good and I could totally see them as potential voice actors. Even Myst gave it a turn and I think he really did well! Maybe he'll get a callback to play the part he did there. Cross your paws. Next we scampered across the hall to the Furry as an art career with I kept careful notes and feel somewhat confident in as I work at my day job trying my hand at getting the old feelers out there and taking some comissions to get that started. We had to leave after that to go have dinner with and Aegis who I don't think I got an fa for, so help out guys so I can send him a note. The conversation was good the food was good, two large pizzas and some garlic knots nom! We missed our next panel on amigurumi and sewing pocket ponies but that was okay new friends way better then ponies in this instance! So after that we sat in the zoo for a bit drawing conversing. Myst was actually in the middle of drawing 's fursona for practice when Sewing Clip-on Ears with Majik Scratch started so I told him to sit and enjoy and I would do the workshop since I had no ears. We must have had a gaggle of awesome presenters at the con or something because this lady was right up my alley. She loving the ponies, talking transformers and taught me how to make clip on ears. I may make some with my proper colors and perhaps with some sort of structure to keep them upright but they are SO cute. Anyone know what her fa is so I can watch her? Myst came to get me and we went off to the dance. We danced our fuzzy tails off had a few drinks and then collapsed into bed an hour later.

In the morning we skedaddled down to registration without food and were in line waiting about an hour or so. We went down at 9:30. We didn't get the registration started until about 10:30 and we were done by 11:00 or so. Fast as bunnies we went off to our first panel, hosted by Grey Muzzle. grabbing a muffin on the way for breakfast. Freaking fantastic speaker and really made me want to try my hand at furry fiction, I haven't written anything in years, so that might be a scary undertaking. We ran to our buddy's room at this point and had a sit down with him, nearly missing the character basics panel by Halfbreed This is one hilarious fur, she had the whole audience laughing and listening intently, learning a thing or two. We checked out the dealer's room at this point, and then went to opening ceremonies. There was some kidding around, some announcements of panels that got moved and so on and then off to dinner at Subway. Unfortunately we missed the aceo panel, we went in and everyone was so intent on drawing they didn't even see us so we slipped off to the zoo for some hanging out. Met the lovely , , , and Grim, who guys if you see this I couldn't find her on fa, HELP!? The mate got asked by some fellas to sit down for a game of Hack Master and I sat doodling for awhile. Unfortunately we missed the dance that night we were so intent on what we were doing and I went to bed at 11:30 after the others went to get dinner with Myst following at 1:15am.

Myst had work for the first half of the day, so while he did that I ran around making sure everything was done. Then once he was out we loaded up said goodbye to our kitty babies, had a last meal and drove 4 hours to Whippany, NJ. We had a few snacks and drink for the road and made it there in one sweep. Of course once we got there I was pretty out of it driving for four hours straight. Word of warning, there is a bloody wall in front of that hotel and you can't turn left, why? I have no clue, we do it just fine in Pa, and we did it fine everywhere else but they didn't like folks turning left by the wall. So we had to turn right circle back around to turn left, which took us a few tries since we went the wrong way on the road the first time. GPS apparently doesn't like the hotel's address. But, we got there. Exhausted we checked in and laid down for a bit before heading down to the Auld Shebeen, the hotel's restaurant.
I had a deliciously tasty Ruben with fries and an ultimate margarita. Myst had jack burger and a flight, which is apparently several little beers so you can taste each one without really committing to a full beer. The atmosphere was beautiful looked like we really were in a irish pub. We didn't see anyone that looked like a fur outright until a suit walked in. She was romping about and having fun and attempted to explain to some normals about us. She did a good job but I think they just weren't buying it. And a gentleman beside us asked the waitress about "all the mascots" I'm not sure what she said but they weren't treating us with much attentiveness so it may not have been good. We paid for our meal which was a touch expensive and went up to the hotel room to shower and sleep. That's about when I realized I forgot to bring my bathing suit. D:!

Guess it's about time I announced this. I'm going to FA: United....TADAAA! :P I won't have a table or even be trying for Artist Alley. This will be my first con in over 8 years. I'm nervous since I'll be doing a majority of the driving and it's to a place I've never been before but I'm excited since well it's furry and a con. There's lots to see and do and be excited about. So is anyone else going?

The past few weeks my computer has becoming steadily more of a problem. Namely random blue screen of death that dissapeared before I could read it when I left the computer going for too long or overnight. I would wake up to messages of "This computer has recovered from a serious error." Its happened before, no big deal, I thought. Well I woke this morning and not only is my computer not on it won't turn on at all. Bah during a long weekend too when I could have gotten so much done. We have a spare but it is a POS and I don't know if it will accept my tablet. The irony is that I was looking at getting a tablet pc in a few months but of course the computer had to explode now, not in a few months. Any advice or ideas as I crack the case for my computer (hehe word play) would be appreciated. I'm open for comissions as of now to attack this thing from the other angle. Traditional color pencils or digital if my spare accepts the tablet or if the comissioner is willing to wait, sketches, inks and icons. 5 dollars for icons, 10 for sketches which will be cleaned up lines, 15 for inks, 20 for color. It's sometimes called freerunning sometimes parkour but whatever you call it it's fun. Imagine yourself vaulting and jumping sliding around and under obstacles and climbing walls and that is parkour. At least that's the basics, check the wiki on more in depth information. For his birthday my mate wanted me to film him doing some, he's just recently started so be kind. I'm doing what I can to help him reach 1000 veiws for his birthday!

Hey everyone, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

I'm not sure how many of you draw or write, but I'm in a rut here. I'm so worried about other crap in my life that I never get time to do it unless I make time and inspiration is just not there. Even when I do sit down and draw it doesn't fill me with joy or accomplishment like it used to. So any suggestions how to get past this crap and get back to creativity making me happy? Course if there's an upside, nothing seems to be making me happy, so it may just be depression, not necessarily anything wrong with my muse. So tell me what do you do to stay inspired to really get yourself drawing and eager to do so?

Sidenote: Anyone interested in a comission? I've never done one for anyone other then friends but I want to listen to someone's ideas other then my own which seem to go nowhere.
