Posted 15 years agoSo I picked up the first book of The Dresden Files, Storm Front, by Jim Butcher two weeks ago.
Promptly followed by books two through six, to start with.
Ah, there are few feelings this mortal husk of mine enjoys as much as a good story. And Butcher does deliver. Gritty noire sprinkled with bombastic magic, monsters, mayhem and murder. The fact the main character/narrator is a cynical wretch with a most excellent sense of gallows humour and flexible honour I can well relate to only adds to the fun.
I can warmly recommend it to everyone who still likes classical detective work, as well as us fantasy and sci-fi buffs. 'cause it has the best of both worlds.

Posted 15 years ago...Make a pre-emptive apology to all the awesome artists I know I shall be +watch and +fav-spamming for in the near future. Having spent a year lurking has left me with a rather wide list of artistic awesome I need to properly file and compliment... So, sorry, everyone, in case I set your in boxes on fire!
