Four Diamonds fund, And PSU.
Posted 11 years agoThis weekend, I'll be spending my time up in State College, PA, and will either be at my brothers apartment, or at the BJC to support my sister at the Four Diamonds Fund's annual Dance Marathon, aka THON.
What is the Four diamonds fund?
The Four diamonds fund is the worlds largest student and alumni run fund, specifying in pediatric cancer. They've been raising money year after year, and are even developing enough to make a yearly amount just now in the tens of millions.

RECAP, UPDATES, THINGS TO COME, AND GRADUATION
Posted 11 years agoThis is it, and I feel I should write a journal about it.
A year in recap: this year has certainly been... Eye opening for me. Many new experiences, and many mirror images of the old. Much to my excitement, I was accepted into college at the beginning of the school year. I was in my first relationship with another of my gender. I'd finally got hired, instead of doing farm work, and still work as a pizza man to this day. I even tried playing a varsity sport that I never had before.
BUT this year has not come without its difficulties. The first hardship, for me, came when my last football season ever came to a close. I ended up in a slump for a while, and it shall be a gap that'll be hard to fill. Who knows, maybe I'll play in college. The hardships continued after my mom had moved out of her ex husbands house... And soon after kicked me out. I lived on my own for well over a month. My father, who i already never saw, chimed in in time to tell me he was moving several states over. I learned a lot in that time, mostly that I can handle living by myself. When I moved back, my mom gave my only companion away without my knowing. My dog Mac. It was a rough time for me. I rebounded soon there after, losing myself in work, sports, school, and every book I could read. My sisters cancer complications were only an additive to my already overly active mind. Unfortunately, in response to the above, I sort of... Burned out. I over worked myself, and I fear I still may be recovering from that.

With the coming of this may, I will be permanently gone from high school, graduated and on my way to the "real world." I, of course, have insanely mixed feelings about this. I missed a lot growing up... I moved so much that I never got to have life long friends, or experience what so many others had... I never had experimental loves. A big part of my sadness is that I never really got to explore my young romantic side, be that with man or woman... I guess I'm saying I regret never having come out.. On the other hand, I am saddened because I experienced so much! I made friends, ones closer to myself than I ever knew possible. I learned things about myself, and developed skills. I blossomed in my community, and online. Going from a shy, young teenager, to the man I am today was not a slick process. I was awkward, and shy... Confused, if you will. It's just sad for me to see such a significant stage in my life so abruptly pass, with no avail to my pleas to slow it.
I hate to say it, but I would definitely go back and change it. I would have come out of the closet much earlier. I would have taken art classes and writing classes, and worked so much harder at the sports I played. I don't think I would have made the decision to come live with my mom. I would have been better off as gay/bi, and for education in general, at my old school. I would have done so much more...
That being said, my life is how it is. I cannot change it... I wish I could but I can't. And in that endeavor, I am attending Shippensburg university for a degree in biology next fall, and am eventually transferring to PSU like so many of my family members before me (my brother, currently) . Biology is One of my many loves in my life. And despite how my life played out... I think I'm going to be ok :).
On the topic of graduation...
I promised to my mother that I'd reveal my big secret to her at graduation. This can go many ways, but I fear the worst is the most likely. She is very... Very much a bigot. I don't think I'll be seeing her much after that day. I'll most likely have to find my own place. But I know I'll have you guys for support. I can find relations in the stories of Kyell gold, and Rukis. I can confide in my friends... You guys really have no idea how much this community means to me. I could cry; I've been reading these stories and meeting you people since I was just a young teen. A pup if you will. You have shaped me and my stature so much. Again, whether it be Cruelty or Unconditional by Rukis, or a book I am very late to read this February, Waterways by Kyell gold (and many others). Just.... Words cannot express. Thank you so much. They'll never see this journal, but I know my friends will. I have you all to thank as well.
In closing, and be aware, there are tears in my eyes for whatever reason, this is my child hood book wrapping up, to later be reviewed upon. I know not much changes once I'm 18, but that day rapidly approaches. As of February 26th, I'm a legal adult. It's been a wonderful journey, guys and gals. Thanks for making it interesting so far !

Apparently I'm likeable, and I don't really see it. I do love my eye color, and my complexion. While all my friends are white and pasty, I remain olive all year round! My build, I guess, because my friends all say I'm really broad across the shoulders.

my complete lack of motivation to do anything either than read and watch Netflix. Lack of productivity is kinda my curse.

Now that I'm informed...
Posted 11 years agoI feel even less informed, and I think that's one, just one, reason why everybody is leaving or moving.
I remember, even as an early lurker to the fandom say, oh, 5 or 6 years ago, (between then and now, I don't remember the exact date) reading some of the allegations placed on he who shall not be named. Now, I don't know him. I don't know dragoneer. I don't know what to believe because there's never been an actual public announcement stating whether or not it's true. There's also the factor of a large group of people saying that (and I know this word can make people uncomfortable) rape was never a factor, and it was "consensual." Again, I don't know these people, and just because you heard it wasn't rape does NOT mean it wasn't. I know people have... Uh... Fantasies and such of it, happening to them and them committing, and we ARE an accepting fandom, but in reality, it's not legal OR excusable. THAT BEING SAID, it is equally as wrong to falsely somebody of the act, it can ruin somebodies life. Which brings me to the cover up, which I think is why I, and many others are uncomfortable.
I think what we want is safety and closure. That's just who we are. And of course, the completely WRONG course of action would be a coverup. SO instead of consoling these victims, he hides any evidence. That is terrible in my opinion. Terrible not only the victims, but all of us. I may be wrong, but isn't the goal, as a site owner, to try and make your users happy and comfortable when at all possible? I mean, these people went out on a limb confessing that.
From what I've heard, he has all access to PM's (this doesn't really affect me as much) and private information. I think we all want someone in this power we know we can just trust. I don't know, maybe they truly don't care. I don't know them at all.
My recomendation to dragoneer, if he wants to keep this site running with the community in tact is to make it more of a democracy. I know this is his site, and he, by all means, doesn't have to, but it's just a recomendation. So voting for admins!
Who knows, maybe even a PR team! This sounds ridiculous, I know, but I think it may be beneficial!
Another recomendation of mine might be to right all the wrongs now, before it's to late, and something happens to this fandom and community that I love so much. There's no doubting there will always be drama, but on this scale, kinda saddens me.
I know this may sound dumb, but I am not leaving this website. This was the place where I really came into the person I am, making great friends. I came out of the closet here, I've read heart touching stories here. I know that there are many other places like it, but it happened here. I know this is strange, but I have an emotional tie to this website. Whether it be from the first time I stepped into a rukis livestream, and read her stories, or gained friends that I know have my back, I knew this fandom, and site, were something special from the start. That's my opinion, and I know... It sounds stupid.
Wrapping up, I know that dragoneer and many others will never see this journal, but i'd like to make this journal a place where people can go to talk, if they feel indifferent about what's going on. Not for fighting. Not for drama. Just to vent.

SO instead of consoling these victims, he hides any evidence. That is terrible in my opinion. Terrible not only the victims, but all of us. I may be wrong, but isn't the goal, as a site owner, to try and make your users happy and comfortable when at all possible? I mean, these people went out on a limb confessing that.
From what I've heard, he has all access to PM's (this doesn't really affect me as much) and private information. I think we all want someone in this power we know we can just trust. I don't know, maybe they truly don't care. I don't know them at all.
My recomendation to dragoneer, if he wants to keep this site running with the community in tact is to make it more of a democracy. I know this is his site, and he, by all means, doesn't have to, but it's just a recomendation. So voting for admins!
Who knows, maybe even a PR team! This sounds ridiculous, I know, but I think it may be beneficial!
Another recomendation of mine might be to right all the wrongs now, before it's to late, and something happens to this fandom and community that I love so much. There's no doubting there will always be drama, but on this scale, kinda saddens me.
I know this may sound dumb, but I am not leaving this website. This was the place where I really came into the person I am, making great friends. I came out of the closet here, I've read heart touching stories here. I know that there are many other places like it, but it happened here. I know this is strange, but I have an emotional tie to this website. Whether it be from the first time I stepped into a rukis livestream, and read her stories, or gained friends that I know have my back, I knew this fandom, and site, were something special from the start. That's my opinion, and I know... It sounds stupid.
Wrapping up, I know that dragoneer and many others will never see this journal, but i'd like to make this journal a place where people can go to talk, if they feel indifferent about what's going on. Not for fighting. Not for drama. Just to vent.

Posted 11 years ago First off, I realize that FA's downtime was longer than expected, what... a month ago now? And I also know that this website is extremely significant to artists, and such... nothing we can do about that, it's in the past, and the admins worked HARD to get it back online.
BUT what is it with so many people putting up journals about their "departure" from FA? Everyone keeps on making statements that make it seem as if something catastrophic happened, that I completely missed.
So what is it? What is it that is making people so uncomfortable with being on this site any longer?

it's a simple question. which do you prefer; first person, or third person limited?
so the main character, a maned wolf named Tam Wendell, leaves his sheltered city life, heading west to find his own path, and escaping his families tight grip on his life. he encounters many people and conflicts on the way, and specifically one special person that changes his life forever (a half native black wolf named Channer Tascalusa).
the era is the 1870s US.

I've had the urge to write for some time, and I already have one story in mind, but I have another. I really want everyone's help, if possible.

Posted 12 years agoSo, a bit of information has developed over the last few weeks.
1. My mother is moving in town. After work on Saturday, I will be packing all of my stuff and transporting it out of my ex-stepdads house. I will be sharing a room with my little sister for a short while until the attic is done. Hopefully soon.
2. My father randomly called and informed me he is moving to North Carolina. It's not unusual, half my life with him was moving, ha, but there is a silver lining. My boyfriend, Ty, happens to live there. It's also closer to various friends. So when I visit my father, atleast I may have places to go.
3. I decided to try and play basketball for the first time in... Ever. I've never played. Well, coach already has me starting JV, and says he looks forward to having me try out varsity as the season goes on. And then proceeded to tell me "You should have played in 10th grade like I told you too, dingleberry."... So there's that.
4. So I was in the nearby cities newspaper, featured football player. Great news because I finished the season with 5 sacks, and 5th most tackles on the team, and I missed 1.5 games. Other than that, 3.9 GPA, car is up and running, and I'm setting up stuff for college now. So I've got a ton to do and even more to look forward to.
ALSO: I drove in and got my black ops 2 back. Granted, I haven't played in... 5 months? I hardly play any games anymore, but I would definately be willing to chat and have some fun. Thanks for reading if you did!
