Every so often I see an artist who will do things like draw YCHs with their character included, or offer character 'dates' and whatnot. I think this is kinda cute, and it's nice because the artist gets to drawn their own character more while still keeping things varied with other character designs and themes. It seems like a happy medium of fresh and familiar.
I'd like to do this potentially, but I'm not sure of the reception it would get.

So, opinions?
When you see artists offering to draw their own character with yours, does it seem fun or does it soil your opinion of the artist? Does it change if money isn't involved? For example, a free "share your character and I'll draw them with mine" vs a paid YCH? Is there any other things that you feel changes the dynamic, like how well known an artist is, or how much people like a specific character?
Whatever thoughts you have on it I'd like to hear, since I find the idea intriguing but don't know how money being a part of it affects/doesn't affect things.

One of our kitties had to be hospitalized because he stopped eating and drinking, and despite our vet's best efforts, ultimately he wasn't going to get better. After being on IV fluids for three days, trying to get his levels back to a normal range, his bloodwork wasn't looking good. He was old, and his kidneys were failing him. We brought him home yesterday and made him as comfortable as possible, letting everyone have one last day to say goodbye. This morning we took him back to the vet.
He went peacefully and without pain.

It's been a while.
I overworked myself and pretty severely injured my elbow from the strain of drawing so much, so I've been spending the past months resting.

I'm not quite at 100%, but I feel like it's safe to start sketching again, as the pain from moving or putting any weight on my arm has since stopped. I'm still taking it slow and am being careful to not push it too much to start with, but I've been pretty miserable not being able to work on anything for weeks, and am more than eager to get back to my main creative outlet.

It feels like January itself has been a full year, but I'm still here

I've been meaning to raise my commission prices for a bit now so I'm going to be doing that this year, but also hopefully working on more stuff in general, including personal work. I know I haven't been positing a whole lot, but I'd really like to get back into the swing of things. For now the updated prices are in my commission information HERE, and I'll be putting up recent examples soon so everything is shiny and new.

Additionally, I think I'd like to make a few YCHs to practice more scenery and background work.
For anyone who's gotten ych art in the past or has considered it, what do you look for?

Do you primarily look for clean art or not safe for work pieces?
Is there a preference with nsfw art to be more suggestive or fully explicit?
Outside of an artist's style or the cost, what draws you to a piece with so many other options out there?
Are auction based ychs dissuading in any way, or is a flat price something that turns you away?

Things in my life just kinda blew up and I've been trying to salvage my own mental health for the past couple months. It's been rough, and I'm still pretty exhausted from everything, but I've been pulling back from some stuff that's been causing me a lot of stress so it's been getting easier.

It's also going to be ArtFight again in a month so I sort of want to get myself together enough to participate in that.

My grandma is still very ill, but I think I've adjusted to it now
Trying to keep in good spirits and draw more.

Maybe it's because I'm getting older, but between the struggle of chronic pain and mental illness I had a moment of being content and at ease with my existence recently. It's a weird feeling, and moving forward I'm going to try being easier on myself.

I've also been looking at a lot of art recently, trying to figure out where I'm trying to go, since I feel like I've been sort of stagnant. Part of that may also be because I hadn't been drawing a lot either, but I feel like I have new directions now, and the pull to see them through.

Wasn't really around for the past three months, sorry about that.

If anyone was waiting on Goretober this year, you're still welcome to get something from me anyway regardless of the time of year. I feel kinda bad missing out on it, since it's fun to work on a bunch of art at once, but I just had too much going on to commit to it.

Had a conversation with a friend though about how sexuality is so fuckin weird anyway, that I shouldn't feel bad or hesitant to draw nsfw things just because I'm ace. I think I needed that more than I realized, being told I can just do whatever I want. I still want to draw nice sfw things too, but I maybe doing a bit more nsfw because I'm less scared of how people will view me based on my work. I've been really careful to balance anything I draw, like anything with a humanoid face with more furries, and nsfw with a bunch of sfw things.
It's kinda tiring. I like the idea of not caring about that.

So I guess my stuff may be more of just everything?
As if anything I draw is consistent anyway lmao

It's so easy to lose track of time these days; it's hard to believe it's January already.

I have some stuff from back in July/August to post from ArtFight, as well as a few other things I just hadn't gotten around to posting. I intended to put those up here and there while I was recovering since I couldn't really draw but clearly I didn't get around to it. Bulk uploading is a bit of a chore so they may be posted a little scattered throughout the next day or two.

I had some things I didn't manage to finish before going for surgery so those will be my top priority

I've been on the waitlist for this for a while, but a new opening just came up today for the 26th, so 10 days from now.

Time has no meaning to me anymore, Halloween passed and I didn't even realize till it was 2am last night.
What weird times we're in.

Anyway a stray cat showed up on my porch four days ago, and with it already being snowy out there I had to take him in. He's really sweet and well mannered, but isn't fixed, tattooed or chipped, and has a hernia, so it's pretty clear he was abandoned. Likely just dropped off in the neighborhood assuming someone would take him in. I'm still seething about it because it's cold as hell out and he's real scuffed up, even if his previous owners didn't have the funds to help him there's better ways to hand off a cat you can't take care of.
Poor baby is just such a sweetheart, but I guess he's mine now so I've taken him in for a checkup, and I'll be getting his hernia fixed tomorrow when he goes in to get neutered.

Anyway, I still have a list of Goretober commissions to get through, and since time just got away from me this past month I'm going to do a few of the sign-up ones still because I didn't have a chance to get to any of the ideas I wanted to with some of the characters that were offered.
