i ain't openin' for it cuz i have other stuff on my plate right now, but what would people think of 'speedrun commissions'? like ya get in stream with an artist, pay them for a specific amount of time, and then they have to work that whole time no breaks but as soon as time's up, they stop, and you're left with whatever they managed to do in that time? so you could get somethin' really friggin' cheap and fast just for funziez. i'd charge 25 cents per minute i think.

(and yeah obviously an artist could stall for time and basically scam you, but i think it would be fun to do with ones you trust.)

just got watched by a super suspicious account, and the shouts on their page all accuse them of being a bot. i've only seen this shit on tumblr before. and within a few days of my post about fake faves! wowzerz.

(they have 3 uploads that are all stolen, a suspicious link on their main page, are watching over a thousand people but have zero faves, and the real kicker, they go on about how much they love nsfw and then watched my SFW account instead of my nsfw one, which is linked right at the top of my bio)

first of all, disclaimer, i have plenty of projects right now so this would be at least a few months from now.

would anyone be interested in a pay-to-use build-your-own-lineart reference sheet thing? either a flash game sort of setup where you play around until you like your setup and then you "print" (download) the finished lineart, or just a package where you build the lineart yourself out of provided layers. i'd include links to various free art programs to use with it. (for ref sheets it's important to use digital colors as traditional can vary a lot and thus get confused)

sort of started making one for myself as i'm playing around with a demon-wolf-wendigo-sona thing, and thought others might enjoy it. it'd be real handy for folks still in the process of designing their sona, as you could play with different parts, and for those who have a design in mind already but don't have a ref sheet/have a hard time explaining what they want.

would include;
-minimum generic male and female but hopefully masculine male, feminine male, feminine female, and masculine female body types (possibly in idealized, normal, and chubby variants)
-minimum wolf/dog/fox, cat, horse, deer, rabbit, dragon, lizard, but i'd also like to try bird(song/prey/water), bat, whale, shark, otter/seal, snake, pig, bear/racoon, kangaroo, giraffe, frog, moth, bee/wasp/ant, turtle, spider/scorpion, and more as i think of 'em.
-front view and rear view(using pose that would show bottom and top of feet and hands), open mouth closeup, blood/flesh/bone closeup, optional genital closeup
-dialogue box for name, age, gender, height, and optional orientation

my main reasoning for why it would be handy is that there are a lot of really neat species that aren't represented in the free lineart world, and many free linearts just aren't great, especially for ref sheets that need multiple views.

and while yes i could make this whole thing free, with all the options i want to include, it would take a LOT of work to make, taking time that could be used on commissions or personal art instead. so, i do want SOME compensation. if people wanted, i wouldn't be opposed to maybe doing some kinda kickstarter and if enough people donated, making it free to use after that, but that's up to you guys and how charitable you are.

anyone else ever get the impression some people fave spam random images just to get the artists to visit their page and possibly commission them? (one such confirmed case recently, their favorites matched the front page exactly- every single image that had been posted within the last few minutes had been faved by them, in order of appearance. their gallery was almost entirely unsold ychs)

it's rather soured the whole fave system for me, as i used to interpret faves as people liking what i make, and would go to their pages to see if it was for quality or for content, show them i appreciate the compliment, and then to see if there's anything i can interact with them about, such as shared interests or groups. basically i saw faves as a way to connect with viewers who are a little shy or otherwise don't have anything to say in a comment. but now it seems most of the faves i get are just people trying to sell to me. and let me tell you, if you want my business, fake faves are NOT the way to do it. i hate solicitors(specifically those that spam everyone they see without any consideration. it's different if there's an actual reason why that particular artist would reach out to that particular individual) and i hate lies. so if i suspect you are doing that, i'm going to make a point to NEVER commission you.

i've also noticed that all the people doing this are of a particular nationality(but i'm not going to state which one publicly because i do not want to ignore the fact that there are plenty of people from there that AREN'T doing this, who don't deserve to be smeared) i'd really like to know what is going on over there that they've suddenly flooded fa for the sole purpose of monetary gain... i imagine most of them don't even understand or like the community, they just know we like to buy shit. obviously i'm not anti-art-selling, considering i sell and buy art myself all the time, it just saddens me that people who don't give a SHIT about furry stuff would join this site JUST to profit off of us. one of my favorite things about this site is the sense of community, after all.

i think the biggest obstacle for my art career right now is one of these two;
1. my struggle to draw things exactly as they are/would be and resisting doing things just because they look good
2. my reluctance to do something just because i can't come up with a way to do it that is super flashy and unique
so, my useful reminder is IT DOESN'T NEED TO BE PERFECT. SOMETHING IS BETTER THAN NOTHING. JUST DO IT.

i had a bunch of ideas for some art but with yesterday and then today my husband getting sick and some brat in a server i run trying to cause drama cuz they can't live in a world where people like things they consider gross, i'm a bit drained at the moment.

gonna try to take it chill for a bit, and when i'm feeling better in a few days i'll get back to drawing.

october used to be my favorite month. i love feeling the air get colder, the sky darker, the leaves crunchier... i love everyone getting all into the spooky spirit.

but 3 years ago, my most beloved died. and it was... i didn't... it didn't go well. not that death is ever easy, but, i feel it was a bit of an extra rough one due to how... dragged out it was. and despite my poor memory and my desire to move on from that event, every year around this time i have dreams that she's still alive, and it seems like others unfortunately have the same experience i did (or, i notice it more...) and i can't help but be reminded of that which i have lost.

in the end i cannot say i wish the dreams would stop, because they remind me to properly cherish my new cat, the way i should have cherished luna. babushka(new cat) has been with us for only one year now. it took two for me to even consider getting another, and it was often painful at first because i would accidentally call her 'luna' and thus remind myself of everything i wanted to forget... they're similar in a lot of ways, and babushka even happened to be the age luna would have been... but i am under no delusions that they are the same soul. i am grateful i'm not alone now, and i love babushka, but i still miss luna dearly and i don't think i'll ever really 'get over' her loss. she wasn't the first pet i had to say goodbye to, but knowing she was entirely MY responsibility, not my parents', and having to watch her get sick and to have to actually make the call myself... makes it a much more traumatic event than just coming home to schrodinger's box one day.
