So now I've gotta do this thing. Here goes.
1. Choose a few of your own characters. Five at the most.
2. Make them answer the following questions.
3. Tag three, and they do this meme.
1: Amaroq (Feral Version)
2: Amaroq (Anthro Version)
3: Red
4: Blue
5: Husky Scientist (Doesn't have a name yet.)
How old are you?
Feral Amaroq: I'm about seven years old. Old enough to be wise, but young enough to be strong.
Anthro Amaroq: I'm about 20-something I'd say. I don't pay much attention to my own birthday.
Red: I don't remember.
Blue: I don't know.
Husky Scientist: I am twenty seven years old.
What's your height?
Feral Amaroq: Uh... About as tall as any Timber Wolf. Probably a bit taller.
Anthro Amaroq: Six feet tall.
Red: I can't remember. I think I'm a bit over five feet.
Blue: I don't know. How do I tell how tall I am? I guess I'm just a little taller than Red.
Husky Scientist: Five feet, ten inches tall!
Do you have any bad habits?
Feral Amaroq: I can't keep my paws to myself when there's cute females around. I'm getting better at that though..
Anthro Amaroq: I hole myself up in my house and practice my magic all day. And if there were any cute girls around, I wouldn't be able to keep my paws to myself.
Red: I charge headlong into battle, which often gets me hurt. I don't care though, I still win.
Blue: I'm afraid of battle. I hang back and defend myself the best I can. I'll help Red the best I can if she gets in trouble.
Husky Scientist: I can't focus on my work. Listening to music helps though. But then my fellow scientists have to tap me on the shoulder to get me to take the headphones off. I at least take them off when I have to focus 100% of my mental capabilities on solving a problem.
Are you a virgin: (IRL, I am.)
Feral Amaroq: Are you kidding? Man... I've been with so many mates, and have had fun with so many girls who weren't mates... Must resist urge to have more...
Anthro Amaroq: Depends on the continuity. If you mean where I stay in my house all day practicing magic, yeah, I'm a virgin. Otherwise, I've probably had almost as much 'fun' as that Feral variation of my character has. Though I also try not to because I really need to learn to be loyal. I've been doing good so far.
Red: I can't remember anything about my past life that would tell that.
Blue: I've been trapped in a glass tube in a lab all my life. But I don't mind.
Husky Scientist: *blushes* I am a virgin, yes. Isn't that kind of a personal question?
Who's your mate/spouse?
Feral Amaroq: I have none right now, though I am courting this one girl I like. I have to resist my urges so I don't become disloyal to her before I even get a chance with her. Not that that's hard, since she is quite the naughty one at times.
Anthro Amaroq: Since I'm a different version of him, I am also courting this girl. She's so cute and sultry. It isn't hard to stay loyal to her. Which I do have to sort of put an effort towards. It's not official yet though, but I want to prove myself for when it does become official someday.
Red: I might have had one. I can't remember. Right now, I care most about Blue. Me and him are in this mess together.
Blue: Red's the only person I've known who's also like me. She's the only one who matters to me. I will go where she goes.
Husky Scientist: Well... no, I don't have anyone. I'm too focused on my work to worry about such things.
What's your favorite ice cream flavor?
Feral Amaroq: What's ice cram?
Anthro Amaroq: Hmm... Vanilla is pretty nice. None of that crunchy stuff that makes my teeth cold. Ooh! Cookie dough is the best though if you put something in it.
Red: Uh...turtle, I think. Yeah, I think that's it. I'm not sure how I know.
Blue: What's ice cream?
Husky Scientist: Hmm... I think I like Strawberry.
Have you killed anyone?
Feral Amaroq: No, but I've been in tons of f ights. I haven't won yet, but I haven't lost in a long time. The fights are either not continued to the end, or they are ties.
Anthro Amaroq: No, I haven't killed anybody, with my magic or otherwise. I never fight to the death with my magic. I only fight to test my skill against others.
Red: If you count robots.
Blue: I... I've killed robots...
Husky Scientist: No way! I would never even hurt anyone.
Do you hate anyone?
Feral Amaroq: I've hated a few people in my time. This one guy named Cask, this other guy named ... damn, I can't remember his name. It's pretty obvious now that I don't think about them anymore. I simply don't care.
Anthro Amaroq: No, I haven't made any enemies. Just sparring partners and a few friends.
Red: I hate the people who keep me and Blue locked up in this place.
Blue: I don't hate anyone. I just wish they would let me and Red out. Though if they ever hurt her...
Husky Scientist: I hate The General's (another nameless character) superiors for their orders to continue to train Red and Blue in combat.
Do you love anyone?
Feral Amaroq: Not right now. But I like someone really strongly.
Anthro Amaroq: Same here.
Red: Blue. He's the only one I know who's going through the same thing I am. I would protect him with my life.
Blue: Red. She's just like me, and I don't have to feel lonely at nights in this tube any more. I can see her in hers next to me, and it makes me happy.
Husky Scientist: The General is like a father to me. I also care for Red and Blue. I don't want to see them used by our government like this. Which is why I have to finish my work.
What is your job?
Feral Amaroq: I'm just a lone wolf. I used to be the alpha male of a pack... but let's not get into that. I'm much more alpha-like now than I was then. Too bad for them, I don't need them anymore.
Anthro Amaroq: No job. I just stay at home and practice my magic, discovering new strategies, moves, and theories to apply to my practices of it.
Red: I don't remember what my job used to be. I've noticed that whenever I see The General, I have the urge to salute him, being a higher ranking officer.
Blue: What's a job?
Husky Scientist: My job currently is perfecting the technology that Red and Blue exist to test. If I can go far enough with this, they'll become obsolete and they can be freed.
Boy or Girl:
Feral Amaroq: I'm definitely a male. If you're a girl, you can check if you want. *grins*
Anthro Amaroq: I'm a guy. Why did you ask? Are there any girls around I don't see? *ahem* No... control self...
Red: I'm a girl, definitely. The way Blue looks at himself and then at me sometimes, I'm not sure if he knows.
Blue: What are those exactly? I know that mine and Red's genitals are different. I see her through the glass.
Husky Scientist: *giggles* I'm a girl. And I'm a smart one.
What do you do to relax?
Feral Amaroq: Lay down in some grass, with nobody else around. It would sure be great if I had someone to cuddle up to...
Anthro Amaroq: I lay down in bed. Or sometimes just wander around outside or look out the window. It would be nice if I had someone to hold in my arms though.
Red: I can't relax when I'm stuck in this tube all day. Not unless I get too tired and fall asleep.
Blue: I just close my eyes and relax my muscles. Floating in the tube fluids can be really nice. Red should try it sometime.
Husky Scientist: I listen to my music. Using it to occupy my active brain while I work has gotten me hooked on it. So now I listen to it even when I'm not working.
What song do you think would describe yourself.
Feral Amaroq: Uhhhhh... That's a good question. I can't think of one. Maybe Duran Duran's Hungry Like The Wolf. I'm a wolf, afterall, and I'm hungry. Though not necessarily for food. *winks* Okay, enough of that. I need to get my mind out of the gutter. Seriously though, if it's something noble, that would work too. I like to protect others.
Anthro Amaroq: Hmm... I have no idea. If it has something to do with magic, or being smart, that would work. Maybe Weird Science? Since I view my magic in a scientific manner and treat it as such when I experiment with it.
Red: Phil Collins - Take Me Home. There's a part where it says "And I don't remember". At least that's what I think it says. I can't remember any of my life before I woke up in this chamber.
Blue: Eiffel 65 - Blue. There's a part in it that almost sounds like "Blue is the color, I fog up my window." That particular sentence was actually my author's inspiration for my creation.
Husky Scientist: ATC - Around The World. I don't know if it applies to me, but it's my favorite song. I think it's cute and spunky, kinda like me. Well, maybe I'm not so spunky anymore now that I'm an adult involved in trying to make Red's and Blue's lives better, but I still think this song fits me a lot.
Any hidden talents no-one knows about you?
Feral Amaroq: Not really. I'm wise, which is obvious. But not many people get to see how good of a fighter I am. I don't go seeking fights. I fight to protect myself or others from attack. I want to say I have one particular talent girls may enjoy... but that'd be letting my mind get in the gutter again.
Anthro Amaroq: I'll skip past the mind in the gutter thing that I do share in common with that other version of myself. (We are separate characters, by the way, just used depending on whether the RP takes place in anthro or feral.)
Anyway, what almost nobody knows about my magic is that, even though it uses all positive energies, I can use negative ones if you put me in a negative mind set. It takes a lot of mental anguish though. I can put myself in it, but I prefer not to. Fighting with negative spiritual energy takes its toll on the body.
Red: I'm psychic. The operation the performed made me like this. But I can't remember anything before I woke up from it.
Blue: I'm psychic. I was engineered that way. I've lived my whole life in this tube because of it.
Husky Scientist: I've been diagnosed with ADD ever since I was a young pup. I barely struggled through school and college, and I still struggle with my work on the technology surrounding Red and Blue. Music helps, but only as a distraction to keep my brain from getting bored. If I can learn to harness my overactive mind and force myself to focus on what I need to, I can do amazing things.
What do you think of your creator?
Feral Amaroq: He's me, of course. I have to like him. He could use some self improvement though. Seriously man, learn to be an alpha in real life, and not just online. Stop letting people walk all over you.
Anthro Amaroq: He's me, so I have to like him. I would like to look up to him, but I can't. He's letting his life to to waste too much. He's not pursuing his dreams, not practicing what he's good at, etc. Get your life back on track. Oh, and start practicing energy manipulation again. You said yourself the magic you created for me somehow fits with your instincts for how you go about energy work. Continue to create and explore your theories on energy and how to work it, no matter what other people think.
Red: He's a pretty nice guy I guess. He loves me and Blue and wants us to be happy. That's good enough for me. He could use some balls IRL though.
Blue: He wants me and Red to be free and happy together, and loves us as characters. I love him too I guess. Can you write your story about us so we can be free already?
Husky Scientist: I just wanna hug him. Nobody knows this, but I'm some sort of representation of him. The whole ADD and struggling in school is based off of him. The struggle to find a way of making it easier to focus and gaining control of his own focus is something he took into account when he created me. It's why, even though I'm not the most important character in Red and Blue's story, I am still a character he holds dear to himself.
What colour is your hair?
Feral Amaroq: Well... I don't really have hair. I'm a wolf. I do have a blue stripe going from my forehead down my back, if that counts.
Anthro Amaroq: I tend to have gray hair, or no hair at all. I think my creator isn't sure what to settle on yet.
Red: It's red, obviously. Just like the rest of my fur.
Blue: I don't really have any "hair" on my head. Just short, white fur all over my body. (I look blue tinted because the tube fluids I'm in are blue.)
Husky Scientist: I'm not really sure yet. Well... my creator isn't sure, I mean. Probably blonde.
I'm gonna break the rules and tag four people that I want to tag. I couldn't narrow it down to three.

Posted 17 years agoFA has been down for multiple months now (if my memory is correct). What has been going on since the last time I posted?
A: I'm single. Me and Anulo didn't work out, for reasons beyond our control. We broke up on friendly terms and are still friends.
B: I live on my own now, but with a room mate. (I've already mentioned this, I think, in a previous journal entry.)
C: I have a job interview today at Six Flags! My roommate used to work there, and has told me that If I can get an interview with them, I'm guaranteed to be hired.
D: I'm a freelance PHP programmer for Heritage Web Solutions! I'll be doing that on the side, at least until I become more financially stable.

Art Trade! Or something like that.
Posted 17 years agoI'm feeling pretty confident in myself right now, and I have a crapload of free time on my hands. What I'm about to offer may or may not have been done before. But that doesn't mean I can't do it anyway.
Chances are, if you belong to this website, your trade is art. I'm amongst a minority whose trade is coding. Well, I can write too, but coding and art is what I'm here to talk about.
I would like to make myself a website, but I lack any Amaroq art to put on it.
Sooo, what I'm offering is this: A code/art trade. I code you a web page for your character (or whatever you want it to be about), and you draw a picture of mine. One page for one picture. I can make that page do anything you want it to, and look any way you want it to (So don't be afraid to get creative in your request). But if you want art on it, you'll probably have to do that yourself. After-all, the reason I'm doing this is because I can't make the art myself.
As for the content of the page: You know what you want written on it better than I do. You provide graphics and words, I provide a nifty, snazzy layout for them to fit on with all the bells and whistles.
I look forward to doin' bizz'ness with you, yo.

Wow!
Posted 17 years agoOr should I say WoW!?
Okay, I've had a WoW retail account for about a month now. I must say, it's a really addicting game, even if I could only get like, one frame per second in the busier / more graphic intensive places.
Tax returns and economic stimulus packages to the rescue! My tax return was about $500-something and I got the full $600 for my economic stimulus package. And what better thing to use it for than to stimulate the tech industry!
So I bought $1,200 in computer parts and built my own PC. All from Newegg.
They're here on my public wishlist:
http://secure.newegg.com/NewVersion.....Number=9137408
I absolutely love this system. 15-30 frames per second in Second Life (which I only played for the first time last night because my previous computer wouldn't even start it). 60 Frames per second on World of Warcraft. On Maximum graphical settings! In the middle of friggin' Orgrimmar!
You have no idea what it feels like to go from 1 frame per second to 60. It's amazing.
I'll probably take a picture of it and upload it soon. I got a nice looking case.

JobForums
Posted 18 years agoSo I was checking my email one day when I received an email from a community I'm part of. Normally they don't send emails to their users so I was intrigued. I opened it, and found a link to a place called JobForums.
http://www.jobforums.org
This is still a fledgling site, so there isn't much activity on it yet. But the goal of the site is to provide a place where people can post their resumes and/or jobs that they need to hire someone for.
If you decide to sign up, you can put me as your referrer if you want. Just type in Amaroq. :P
Not that it really matters. I'm not sure if they give any benefits for referring yet, though I think there might be.
So yeah, spread the word. Let's help get this site populated.

Characters from the heart
Posted 18 years agoThis was inspired by a journal entry that
lilifox made. In said journal, she states that we have created characters that we love other than our main fursonas, and she invites us to tell her about them and share what they're like.
Check out the journal entry for yourself.
http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/260306/
I've got such a big entry that I decided not only to make my own journal about it, but I decided that this would be an awesome meme to try to start. With all this art that's being posted, people often don't go into depth to describe what the character is like. Where they came from. This is an attempt to do something about that.
So, what characters have you created that really come from the heart? How did this character come to be? Why is he/she important and special to you? Start your own journal in order to describe this. Whenever you see another journal entry like this, post a link to yours in their comments. In this way, we'll be able to share our characters with each other.
So don't forget to post a link! Oh, and don't forget to post one in
lilifox's journal entry too. I'm sure she'd love to hear about your characters as well.
Amaroq
Amaroq is my fursona. A few years before I even knew what Furry was, I had a Phantasy Star Online character named Amaroq. I got the name from one of my favorite stories, Julie of the Wolves. Well, I liked Julie's Wolf Pack better because it focused more on the wolves, but Amaroq is still the one wolf I admired most in the series.
I've always loved magic. My first real persona was my PSO character, a FOmar. For some time, my magic in RP was based off of PSO's 'techniques'. Then I got Furcadia and, of course, I made a canine character named Amaroq Wolf. Over time, as I RP'ed more and more as Amaroq, my online persona began to transition from the human to a wolf version, still with PSO magic though.
Long before I ever got into Furcadia, however, I had begun formulating a theory as to how magic would work if it were real. Where the energy would come from, how it could be used, etc. It was originally going to be a fictional document in a Starfox Fan Fiction that I still haven't finished that Krystal's grandfather would've written. (The fanfic is called Legend of the Three Staffs, if you're curious.) But as it resided in my head, it grew and evolved over time and I eventually removed all traces of PSO's 'techniques' from Amaroq and used my own theories to develop his magic from the ground up.
While I had fun with RP-battling a friend of mine with my magic vs his magic as anthros, I never got to play in Anthro dreams on Furcadia very much. All my friends were in feral dreams, so most of my roleplay took place as a feral wolf. As a result, I actually have two versions of my Amaroq fursona; Anthro and Feral. Since I RP'ed as the feral most, I'd say that version of Amaroq is who I am inside since he is an extension of myself. Anthro Amaroq is who I wish I could be. I still RP him as an extension of myself as well, but he's the one who's got the magic. I don't RP his magic for the feral variation. (And no, they don't transform into each other or anything like that. I simply play as either one or the other depending on whether the continuity is anthro or feral.)
Amaroq has been with me for 3, 4, maybe even 5 years. He's grown and evolved over time. He, both versions of him, is who I am inside. Ever since I really entered the furry fandom a couple of years ago, I have been striving to overcome my shy, quiet, hesitant nature and bring Amaroq to the surface. Both anthro and feral versions of Amaroq are very resourceful and strategic in combat, and the feral version used to be the alpha male of a roleplay wolf pack. Amaroq is also a pillar of strength for others to lean on. I know I've got alpha material in me in the form of Amaroq and I know that I could be someone others can lean on for support and come to for help. I just have to work on bringing it out of me.
Blue
This is the first time I've ever made a posting about these characters. I've told others about them, but until now I've never put them out here for the world to see.
A friend of mine from Starwing HQ told me once how they love to create and develop characters. I was kind of down because I wanted to be able to create a character too, but I was absolutely terrible at coming up with backstories and personalities and such. I was listening to Eiffel 65 - Blue (Daba do) and thinking along this trail of thought, when the song came to a part about looking out a blue window. Suddenly, the image of an anthropomorphic dog (dalmation-esque, sorta like one of the main characters in Lapping the Competition. But no spots.) inside a glass tube in some random lab. He was looking out and the outside was tinted blue. But how is it blue? I decided he would be suspended in a blue liquid. With stuff mixed in to allow his lungs to absorb oxygen from the liquid. (It's been done with rats in labs. I saw a video of it once. A rat breathing underwater.)
Well anyway, my idea of Blue began to expand. He was created in this lab, and that tube and the blue-tinted lab is all he knows. At night, when the lights are out, all he has is an overhead light to see by. He's lived his entire life surrounded by darkness at night with nobody to be there for him and comfort him.
Red
As I continued to evolve Blue, I somehow came up with the idea that he should eventually meet someone. Someone who could bring happiness to his world of endless desolation. My original idea was for him to fall in love with a scientist working in the lab, but then somehow I came up with the idea of another dog in another identical tube. Thus, Red was born. (I'm not sure what to call her species. Think anthropomorphic Lady-esque, from Lady and the Tramp.)
Unlike Blue, Red wasn't created in the lab. She lead a satisfying and adventurous life. I'm not sure yet, but she may have had a husband and maybe even kids. She was a soldier in the army, and was a bold combatant. Unlike Blue's quiet, shy nature, Red is one to take a problem head on and plow through it.
One day, she came home from serving duty to find her family slaughtered. She couldn't take the pain of loss. I'm not sure yet how this will come to pass, but somehow she got the chance, and took it, to opt to be part of the same project that Blue was part of. She didn't know anything about what the project was about. The only part that mattered to her was that she could have her memory wiped clean so she wouldn't have to deal with the pain, and still do a service to her country.
Once her memory was wiped, she was placed in a tube and that tube was placed in the same lab as Blue's.
Red and Blue
Like Blue, Red now knows nothing of life outside of that tube. Unlike Blue, though, Red obviously hasn't spent her entire life in it. She just doesn't remember anything from her former life.
Red and Blue now at least get to watch each other when the lights are out. The separate tubes don't allow them any real contact, but it's still the best thing that either of them know. Red doesn't have to feel the pain of loss any longer or the confusion of not knowing where she is or how she got there, and Blue doesn't have to feel so alone anymore. Regardless of everything wrong in their lives, they still manage to form a strong bond of friendship and love that can never be broken by any mortal nor ever be cheapened by the things that cheapen the bonds between most normal people. Not knowing anything different, not knowing the sins of mankind, there are no influences that could ever break this bond.
Oh, and Blue was genetically engineered to improve the areas of his brain responsible for psychic activity. Red's brain was modified in a similar way when they wiped her memory. Blue cannot speak english, but they eventually figure out how to communicate to eachother in their thoughts. Red teaches Blue english in this manner.
I don't want to get too much into the story in an entry meant for the characters, so I'll just say that by the end, Red and Blue will escape. They'll become lovers-on-the-run of sorts, on the run from the organization who had previously enslaved them. Due to the nature of their captivity, their love is completely pure and can never be tainted by the things that usually affect most relationships in a detrimental fasion.
Green
Like I said, I don't want to get too much into the story. I'll save that for another journal entry. But before Red or Blue, there was one other failed experiment in this project, and the subject of that one was named Green.
Blue was named Blue because the blue liquid in his tube affected the pigmentation of his fur, giving his fur a permanently blue hue. Red was already a dog of a red coloration, so she got the name Red. Since Green was the first, the technology to grow and maintain him wasn't as developed. The chemicals in his tube water affected the pigmentation of his fur as well, making it permanently green tinted. The scientists thought they had perfected the liquid before it turned Blue blue, but they got it right by the time Red came to be in her tube.
They named Green Green, and Blue Blue, and by the time the girl (I'm not sure what her past life name should be) came to be in her tube, the naming convention stuck, so she became Red.
Anyway, since the technology wasn't so great at the time, Green's body didn't develop right. As a result, he lived on life support systems with tubes and machinery in, out, and all over his body. He was bonded in place so he couldn't move within his tube and damage his body by ripping anything out. Green lived in constant pain in addition to lonliness, but his plight was silent to the scientists who studied him. His brain had been altered in a similar fashion to Red and Blue's so the scientists could study potential applications of technology that could detect psionic emanations.
Rather than simply feeling lonely though, Green began to develop a deep hatred of everyone and everything. His abilities began to grow, and before long scientists who slept in rooms near the lab would start waking up with terrible nightmares.
There was one man who cared about Green. The General who had been appointed to run the project. His superiors had made it very clear to him that he could easily be removed from the project if he didn't cooperate with their wishes, so all he could do about Green's condition was visit him occasionally and try to comfort him through the glass of the tube. The General became the only person whom Green didn't hate. But that all changed one day when the danger of Green's abilities became apparent. The General's superiors ordered Green's termination, and green could only watch and struggle as the General shed a few tears, flipped a switch, and bid Green farewell and wished his soul peace.
The General didn't know, however, that there was hidden functionality in the life support system that didn't kill Green, but only put him in a deep coma. After the General left the installation for what he thought would be the last time, Green was moved to a secret location. A few years later, Blue would be created in the same lab.
The General
He's a hound dog. So far I haven't come up with a name for him, but he's a General and he was placed in charge of the project that oversaw Green's creation. He almost refused when he was ordered back to oversee Blue's creation, but the thought of someone else taking less care of the subject than he would drove him to grudgingly accept. As far as the General knows, Green is dead. (Though he turns out to still be alive.)
Since Blue was being studied for the same types of psychic-detecting technology applications as Green was, the General began to do some research of his own. He hated the barrier that the glass placed between him and Blue. He decided that he'd try to secretly use books to try to teach himself to become psychic, in hopes that he may one day be able to speak with and comfort Blue during this very lonely life he leads. By the time Red comes into the picture, the General is constantly 'borrowing' soldiers and using them in silly exercises, such as making them hold flash cards with shapes on them so he could try to detect and guess what they were. Much to the soldiers' irritation. So far the General has made no noticeable progress on his quest.
He also acts as a father figure of sorts to a young Husky woman who he's known since she was a little girl. She comes to the lab to work as a scientist there. She's constantly seeing soldiers in weird situations, always with an annoyed look on their faces, whenever she comes into the General's office.
The Husky Scientist
I haven't come up with a name for her either. She comes to work in the lab at around the time Red and Blue are there. Like the general, she comes to care for them. She wants them to be free, so she works tirelessly to research the applications of the technology so that the subjects won't be needed anymore and may one day be freed.
Unfortunately, she's had Attention Deficit Disorder her entire life, and it really makes it hard for her to keep on her work. She's becoming increasingly frustrated and depressed that she just can't keep up with her work as well as the other scientists. How can she ever help Red or Blue if she can't even do the work she's supposed to do?
The General, of course, gives her advice on this. ADD isn't a disorder, it's an intelligent mind that doesn't have enough stimulation to keep itself satisfied. If the she can learn to harness her mind and focus on the work fully, she can accomplish more than all of the other scientists, and the General helps her to realize that.
Once she realizes this, the other scientists often see her wearing headphones while she works in the lab. Music gives her brain something to focus on so that she doesn't get bored while she's working. If she finds an extremely interesting or difficult problem to solve, she'll take the headphones off temporarily to devote her full focus to the matter at hand.
That's that I guess
While I may have gotten a little into techno-ey and psychic-y stuff, I hope that you all can look past this surface and identify with the mental and emotional plights all of these characters of mine are experiencing. Blue has seemingly eternal lonliness, Red has the memory loss so she doesn't have to feel the pain of her past life. Red and Blue have eachother to make the desolation bearable. Green has a lifetime of pain and suffering and wishes to be free of his body, to be at rest. The General's love for them all pushes him to unsuccessfully attempt to learn to be psychic, while having to be careful not to make his superiors think that they need to remove him from the project and place someone less caring in his place. The Husky's caring-ness for them pushes her to try to solve the problems surrounding the technology, and she also has to overcome her ADD in order to do so.
I have such love for these characters. Bringing their story to life is one of my greatest life goals. I want to share their plight with the world so that others may come to love them and identify with them like I do.

MFF '07: How it went
Posted 18 years agoShit, I totally forgot to post this on my FA account. Copied from my DA
"I got back monday, but I didn't feel like posting because I broke my Linux and lost everything and was still trying to figure out if I could get it back. Reinstalled in the end though.
On Thursday, a day before the con, I picked up the one girl (Auora) a half hour late at the bus station because of traffic. Dear lord, Chicago traffic is nuts. Your safest option is to ride the ass of the car in front of you to make sure no other cars try to dart in front of you.
Once we got to the con though, we picked up our badges (that we pre-registered for) and got to walk around in this party room and eat some stuff. There was two variations of mashed potatoes (one of them of the sweet potato variety) and cheese, sour cream, and nuts to put on it.
Let's see... I walked around basically with Auora. She had a camera and I'd kept mine in the suitcase. The guy who founded wikifur said Hi to us and we all walked around together for a while. I'm, of course, hugging fursuiters randomly, since that's what I do. I got grabbed behind by a bat fursuiter and covered with its wings while I mock-screamed. That was recorded on video by some other guy.
Hmm, let's see. I couldn't even begin to describe all the fursuiters I've hugged at this year's MFF. Later that night though, we were talking to this guy who was carrying a black spray-painted oar with the word NEKO taped on it in white tape when we saw Pepper across the lobby. Pepper was the other room-mate for the con. She's hardcore in that she wears the fursuit constantly at cons with the exception of sleeping or taking a shower. She will even eat and drink through the muzzle of her suit's head.
Let's see, what else. The theme of the con this year was "Critters on the High Seas," so I should not have been too surprised when I saw Jack Sparrow and his father walking around. They weren't fursuiters, mind you, but they were still very VERY convincing. They talked identically to their movie counterparts, looked just like them (including costume subtleties), and even carried a bottle of rum.
I have been thinking that some day, someone at a con would recognize me, perhaps from Furcadia. Well, two con-goers did recognize me, but they were from Ogame instead (universe 20), and both were members of the same Alliance I'm in. Me and one of them discussed some things regarding Ogame before I eventually wandered off to wander around some more.
Hmm, Friday.
I wandered around and interacted with fursuiters a lot, of course. But there was also checking out the artist's alley (where artists do commisions) which I hadn't done the day before. At the artist's alley, I saw a friend of mine, Grant the GM, sitting at a booth selling some stickers and coffee mugs with some of his art on them. He told me of an event called the Iron Artist that he was running, and so I decided I'd check that out. I basically wandered around until then.
I missed half of it unfortunately, but what I did see was hilarious. About 12 artists, I think, were all lined up side-by-side at a table drawing something on their own sheets of paper that they had been told to do. The catch? Well, the catch is that they don't know what the catch is, in Grant's words when he told me about it. I guess they're constantly given distractions to try to reduce the quality of the art, not that it matters since its just for fun. When I walked in, the audience was singing The Song That Never Ends. Grant blew an airhorn and said "I don't like that song. Sing me another!" And the audience began singing "Row, Row, Row your boat." After a while he blew the airhorn again. Then all of the artists had to run to the back of the room, grab a bunch of markers and colored pencils from the back and then run back to the front. It seemed like so much fun to watch from what little I'd seen so far, that I went to get my roommates, or Pepper anyway (Culdn't find the Auora). Though by the time we got back, the action was already pretty much over and they were judging the pictures. I guess you had to draw something based on three words: Chef, Muffin, Zombie. Needless to say, the results were mixed and almost all were completely random.
I don't think I did much Saturday except hang out with my roommates and interact with furries and hug fursuiters.
Later Saturday though, there was the fursuit dance.
Now, I've been to dances before in high school. But I never danced. I just sat to the side and watched. I think I went voluntarily once because I thought there would be free food and there wasn't.
At the fursuit dance, however, I enjoyed being there. I was determined not to let my shyness block me from having fun. So I started dancing, following the "let the music move you" way of thinking, basically listening to the music and moving my body however I felt like doing. I don't think I did half bad either. First me and Pepper invented a new dance which consisted of me and her basically dancing a Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 2 match, bobbing our bodies up and down during the "fighting" to the beat of the music. We did the Newton's Cradle, first starting with one moving fist, then both. I think we did one or two other random, hilarious things as well, but I can't remember what. The dance was 5 hours long, and I danced 4 of those hours. And I don't mean lightly bobbing and moving around either. My legs were burning within the first hour and I kept it up for two hours straight, then took an hour break and did it all again for two more hours when I still hadn't recovered from the first two. Two days after that dance, my arms, legs, and knee joints would still hurt be hurting. But it was worth it.
Sunday.
Fursuit parade! I slept in late from the dance and got ready and wandered around a bit, and then me and Pepper went to the fursuit parade. Being a fursuiter, you'd think she would have participated. But she unexpectedly decided to sit on the sidelines instead and wave and interact with the other fursuiters as they passed by. She enjoyed watching it much more than being in it anyway, since you get to see them all rather than just be stuck between two the whole way.
Later, there was the closing ceremonies where they basically gave us numbers and final speeches and such. We missed part of that, so I didn't get to hear the official fursuit parade count. We almost beat the guiness world record though, from what I hear, the record currently being held by Anthrocon with 400 something suiters. The con itself had about 1,700+ registered members this year, and has now gotten big enough to move to a larger hotel for next year.
The Midwest Furry Fandom (who ran MFF) also donated $15,000 of the proceeds to Flint Creek Wildlife Rehabilitation. The lady in charge got up on stage holding a hawk on a gloved hand (I forget the type of hawk), accepted a $10,000 dollar check, and then was surprised with another $5,000 dollar check. She began crying and said that they basically operated at a constant deficit and that the $15,000 pretty much made them break even for the rest of the year.
Later that night, there was a "Dead Dog Party." Basically the room the dance took place in, but brightly lit this time and with tables. I entered to hear dance music playing and to see fursuiters dancing on some of the tables. Some of the furries had set up another dance of sorts and moved the tables over to have a mini after-the-con-officially-ended dance. Even though my limbs were pained from the previous night's dance, I danced again at this one, though I obviously had less energy to do so.
Of interest, while I was wandering the Dead Dog party at some point, I met the guy who made the Foxee microsoft agent.
http://www.foxee.net/
He had a laptop with him. Windows XP on it. Not only did he pimp out the background with Foxee art, but he also pimped out the startup screen. Black background with Foxee sitting in the upper left hand corner, with the words "Foxee Animatronics" next to it. The right side of the Foxee drawing was fading into what looked like blue, glowing circuitboards.
The windows XP logo was even changed to say Foxee XP, in a blueish font.
The guy is currently working on a real animatronic blue fox, of course named Foxee.
Throughout the con, there was a room called the Con Suite that basically gave us free food the entire time. Snack food basically, such as drinks, pretzels, chips, etc. On Monday, as I was getting ready to leave and talking to Auora and Pepper, when the Con Suite was already closed since the day before, someone walked out into the hall and shouted. "Con Suite's open, giving away the rest of the food!"
The enormous flooding herd of furries all simultaneously sprinting down the hall towards that one room was unprecedented. Me and Pepper were at almost the front of the herd. Man, I've never seen a fursuiter run that fast. I bagged five cans of Brisk Iced Tea! Stuffed 'em in my pants pockets, that I did. Pepper grabbed a box of individual jelly containers.
Oh yeah, I forget which day it was, but there were some people playing Poppin' Music in one of the side rooms of the Con Suite. For those not in the know, it's somewhat reminiscent of DDR, except you use your hands instead of your feet and the controller has like, 9 buttons.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sD9UjpW1G6k
Pepper played a level not quite as hard as that, but still pretty difficult looking. In fursuit too! People marveled that they could never play that game in a fursuit. Pepper has that game too, of course, and plans on teaching me.
Other than that, I can't really think of anything else at the moment, other than that I miss it already and I really want to have a fursuit by next year. Pepper is the only fursuiter who "marathon suits" like that, and I plan on providing competition to see who can suit the longest.
Oh, and I found some video of the pirates.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OOuibu12fgE
Oh yeah, I forgot. During the dance, there were two guys and a fursuiter volleying a balloon back and forth. I walked over, and while I was walking over, one of them hit it too far. So I darted, and leapt, and hit it back, and landed, and rolled. Then I got up and joined their volleying.
Then a little while later, everybody formed a gigantic conga line. This conga line formed a circle, with me on the inside and the other balloon volleyers on the outside. We were volleying the balloon back and forth over the conga line as if it were a net. I even spiked it over the conga line a few times.
Oh, and I also heard some video game music; notably, Sephiroth's song, and Still Alive from the credits of Portal. Where did I hear this, you might ask? Not on a CD player. Not on a computer. On the PIANO! That's right. You know you're amongst geeks when you enter the con lobby and see a furry sitting at the piano playing video game music the likes of which would qualify you as geeky even to listen to.
I want to learn the piano so I can play the Star Craft Terran Theme next year on the lobby piano. Not only would that rock, but furries would probably recognize it too."

Posted 18 years agoIt's that time of year again. No, not Halloween. Not Thanksgiving. It's certainly too early for Christmas. What I'm talking about is Midwest FurFest!
http://furfest.org
For those not in the know, it's a Furry convention held every year in Schaumburg, IL on the third weekend of November. At least I think it's always the third weekend. It has been so far. I think.
Well anyway, I should be much more prepared this time than I was last time. No sleeping in the lobby or bumming sleeping space with newly met friends this time. I've reserved my own room.
I know, I know, I live only an hour away. But hey! There's no way I'm going to be leaving once I get there. I made the mistake of thinking that way last year and never did leave once I got there.
Last year was my first time at a Furry convention, and this will be my second time. I hope to not miss some of the things I missed last year this time, such as the fursuit dance. I'm not too into dances or dancing, but I definitely have to be there this time.
Like last year, I'll bring my mom's camera again with plenty of batteries. Since I love fursuiters so much, those'll probably be what I mostly take pictures of. Since I still have the pictures from last year, I'll have to code myself a proper photo album to display the pictures from both years of the convention.
I can't wait. Last year, it felt like I was amongst my "own kind" for the first time ever. Another person put it nicely. "It was like coming home." That's what it'll probably feel like.
I'll get to be amongst furries, and more importantly, hug fursuiters! It'll be an awesome time to be had.
Oh, and a friend from Wisconsin is going to be sharing the room with me. Can't wait 'till she gets here. And potentially another, more local friend as well. This local one has already got plans to share space with a few others, but my room space is always open to her too.

Posted 18 years agoAh, gotta love it. I know, that was last year. But still.
It was my first convention. Man, I was like a kid in a candy store when I walked into the Hyatt and saw fursuiters walking around everywhere. Of course, being shy, I didn't have the guts to confront any of them. So I walked around and took pictures of them.
Much to my glee, some of the fursuiters that posed for pictures for me walked up and gave me a hug afterwards. I loved it, but was still too shy to do anything about it. So I continued to walk around, taking pictures and wanting them to hug me, which some of them did of course.
By the second day, I had already made a couple of friends. And I started to come out of my shell to the point where I must have been talking their heads off. Heck, by the day's end, I was going around and taking the initiative to randomly hug fursuiters. Yay for fursuit hugs!
I love fursuiters.
Oh, and I have pictures of course.

I'm in only two of them. At the top where I'm taking a picture of myself in the mirror to test the camera (along with a test shot of that tasty looking pizza), and down towards the bottom where I'm standing next to that blue cat outside. Oh, and the group shots with me, the cat, and his friends.
I didn't really catch anybody's names. xD But even though I'm bad at remembering names as well as faces, I don't think I'll ever forget the fursuiters I met. As well as some of the non fursuiters, because furries all seem to have their own sense of style that sticks out in my mind.
Entered the smash bros tourney there as well, by the way. The first round I played, I was fox. But alas, I was too rusty to use him to his fullest potential, and got my butt whooped horribly. In the second round, a team match, I was pikachu, and I did much much better. Our two teams' scores were pretty much tied up for that round. Or they would have been if my falco teammate hadn't gotten a negative score. We lost.
Let's see... what else... Oh yeah. I met 2 the Ranting Gryphon. If I spelled that right.
The comedy he and Uncle Kage did there, especially 2's part, was hilarous as hell. Suicide aboard the starship enterprise. "How about I put my head in a replicator and order a brick. Let them figure that one out. Or lay down across the trransporters and beam my head up someone's ass."
I met him later that day, I believe. I was wandering around with some other friends I made, whom I don't remember, and we saw 2 just sitting alone on the couch in the lobby. So we went over and sat down, and talked to him for probably 15 or 20 minutes, and then continued on our way. He's a pretty down to earth guy. You'd be surprised. He's not stuck up at all like you'd think someone well known like him would be.
I actually live within driving distance of shaumburg. So I figured I'd just drive back and forth each day of the convention. Not gonna happen! Once I got there, I was not about to leave until it was absolutely over. My first night, I slept in the lobby in one of the chairs. I was part of a conversation of other people sitting in nearby chairs and a couch (I think) till 3 or 4am, then curls up in the chair and fell asleep. The hotel workers didn't do anything because if they would have looked over, theyd've seen me sitting with people and thought I was awake and talking. The second and last night, I actually got to bum a bed in the room of the two friends I made there.
Overall, I had the time of my life. Post-Con Depression stuck with me for a few months after that. But hey, I am definately going to go to MFF '07, and every MFF after that as long as they don't move it out of my driving range, for sure. And don't worry. This time I intend to have a room so I neither have to leave nor impose upon my new friends for sleeping space.
Here's looking forward to the next MFF, and all the fursuiters I'll get to hug!
