Hope everyone is having a positive 2018 so far and hope it gets even better.

Been feeling ok with my art lately but overall the interest is dropping. Funny how that works, the prouder you are of a pic the less popular it is (maybe because we pay attention to its popularity more?).

It has been over a year since my last journal!

-Inktober next week - I'm gonna do it for more than a week this time!
-Comic - got the cover done, sketching the layout now. Story is about 90% done and there is plenty to start on.
-Extra-life - Been streaming games, definitely will do this again. It is on Nov 4th and if you have any games you would like to see (PS4 mainly, maybe some PC) let me know.

Fun story, so my last journal talked about a hot wing challenge that nearly killed me literally. Found out a couple of days ago that it sent 5 other people (like out of 20!) to the hospital as well! So I'm not a wimp!

So how have you people been doing?

I was in the zone a few weeks ago with my drawings. I was inspired, had some ideas, sketches were looking good. Then I busted up my hand. Fractured in two places from slamming my fist down on a stack of papers during a heated work argument. It will be broke for 6-8 weeks but I think I have finally relearned how to hold a pencil without it hurting.

Moral of the story: paper does in fact beat rock.

So besides that, how are you people? I'm itching for people interaction.

I have run into some tight money times due to a hospital stay (I'll put the details below in case you want to read about it). So I'm going to be offering a sale on sketches for just $5. They can be full body or bust, I only ask that they aren't adult themed. Note me if you are interested!


Here is the story in case you wanted to know the details:

Back in January I decided to do a hot wing challenge in an opportunity to hang out with my little brother. I've done similar challenges in the past, but that was when I was much younger and wasn't diagnosed with stomach issues. The challenge ended up being 12 wings in 10 min, no liquids, and after completing it you have to sit there for 3 more min. I eat habanero peppers every now and then and they don't give me too many problems, but they used habaneros, ghost peppers, and Carolina reapers. To give an idea of how hot those are:

Scoville scale of peppers:
Banana Pepper: 900
Jalapeno: 10,000
Habanero: 350,000
Ghost Pepper: ~1,041,427
Pepper spray: 2,000,000
Carolina Reaper: 2,200,000

I made it through 8 wings and was doing ok with the pain, but it was slowing me down and I timed out. Fast forward to 3-4 hours later, I started having stomach pains like someone was stabbing me. The pain was so intense I was passing in and out of consciousness. My brother drove me to the ER where they ran some tests, couldn't figure out what to do, and just kept giving me cocktails of Maalox and Benadril (no pain meds since I am allergic to opiods and the rest they were worried would upset my stomach more). After a few hours I stabilized and I was driven home. I eventually got two bills, one for $700 for the CT scan and $6,000 for the Maalox cocktails and laying on a bed for a few hours.


Tl;dr Antumbra was stupid, ate spicy stuff, hospital overcharged. Needs to do commissions to pay for bills.

My Intuos3's USB has been acting up for months and today, it decided it had enough. Crappy part is, I don't have the money to buy a replacement since I just spent most of my money on my new house. I might have to put it on a credit card, which means I pay of like $100 of it a month and pay a lot more.

Regardless, anyone have any problems with the Cintiq 13HD with Windows 8? I was thinking either that or the Intuos4, depending on how cheap I can find a used/refurbished one. Had problems with the driver causing jitters on the Intuos3 and reaaaaaalllly don't want to experience that again.

Holy cow I am late doing this. Been busy with work conventions, helping the family and stuff.

So, 2015 new years resolutions!

1. Start my comic by June. I'm still hammering out some details, but I got most of the characters hashed out the way I want and some story written. I just really need to figure out how I want to start it.

2. Work out more (again). Was on and off again, but I need to get back to being in the same shape as I was when I played football. I'm shooing to get down to about 185-195lbs range.

3. Fav/watch more people and interact more! There are some really amazing artists and cool people around here and the other art sites, I WANT TO KNOW YOU *sits outside of your window*

4. Get a girlfriend. Been almost two years since my last gf, I need to be less shy and get out more.

5. Start working towards entering in the LeMons car race. Instead of the 24 hour Le Mans, there is a race where you can only have a $500 car (not including safety gear and setup) and you race for two days in an all out frenzy of stupidity.

6. Try to work more on commissions to help with #5.

7. End my resolutions in an odd number.

Fun fact of the day/week/month/until I make another journal is hidden somewhere in the journal so you have to read through this! Or not. This isn't going to be that long of a journal.

Out of curiosity, who would be interested in a commission? I was thinking about $5 for a digital blue pencil sketch, $10 for inked, and $20ish for full color. It isn't binding if you say yes, just kicking the tires for interest.

The money would be used to fix my car. It got some nasty hail damage from all of these storms and I was quoted $7k-$15k (depending if they can't salvage my hood and doors). I have insurance that will cover all but the deductible (thank goodness), but I don't even have that much to spare.

Ants can survive in a microwave, they are small enough to avoid the rays.

My comic is starting to roll along, so I guess if you are interested in that I'll be posting a lot more stuff relating to it. My goal is to get started on the first pages here before the end of August.

Oh, and if you haven't already you should check out Wolf Among Us by Telltale Games (think Sam & Max or the Walking Dead games). You should double check it out if you enjoy the Fables comic series, which sadly is less than 10 issues from ending.

Little things I think about during the day:

-If You Give a Mouse a Cookie not only has good business, life, and housekeeping lessons.

-Despite the saying, beans are not fruits and the musical part is completely subjective.

-Everyone wants photographic memory. I want photogenic memory, so all of my memories look AMAZING

-Diet Pringles should just be normal Pringles, but in a smaller tube.

-Most of my thoughts are about food.

-So many people are prepared for a zombie apocalypse that if it ever did occur, I think most people would survive.

All that and I'm almost done with a drawing I am very happy with, but it has taken waaaayyy too long. Then it is on to a request, and maybe I'll start on my comic I've been writing.

Woke up this morning to hear the terrible news.

It isn't fun to have to call all your family and friends to make sure they are alive... one of my friends has a relative who was shot and was in surgery this morning, please keep them in your thoughts.
