I'm an Avali!
General | Posted 3 years agoMuch to many people's surprise, I have opted to change my main fursona species. I'm a space chicke... errr.. I'm an Avali now!
It was a long, thought out process before making this decision. I was a dolphin for 18+ years. I have no issues with dolphins and they are still my favourite animals.
However, with the pandemic times and my stepping into VR Chat, I found myself connecting with and really loving my Avali self the more I wore the avatar. My good friend Der was often an Avali on VRChat and I really liked what I saw, so I made my own. The community and friends in the Avali groups became closer and were spending more time with me than others. I went to dozens if not hundreds of Avali meet ups. I talked on discord servers. I shared artwork and built avatars for friends - largely avali characters. Every time I look in the mirror and saw that cute little white, grey, and blue space bird looking back at me, I just felt.. right. It felt like me. It felt like I was looking at who I wish I was, and who I identify with when I close my eyes.
.. and I can't say I ever really truly felt that way about my dolphin sona. I still love my white sided dolphin self, but it's just not 'me' when I close my eyes anymore. He's not going anywhere though and I you'll still see my dolphin self surface here and there.
As of now though (and actually more like a few months ago), Aphinity is now an Avali, and I'm officially turning in my flippers for wings. And yes, I really hope that, some day, I'll have a fursuit of him as well.
CHIRP!

Balloon printing - please read
General | Posted 10 years agoHello all,
I wanted to make a point clear that I've been telling people in personal chats. Unfortunately, due to personal circumstances, cost, and many other factors, I will no longer be taking balloon printing commissions for others.
There are many reasons behind this, but for now, if you have not already spoken to me and had me agree to do an order for you, I will not be able to help you.
HOWEVER...
If I spoke to you, even if it was years ago, and told you I'd do the printing for you and still have not, I will still hold true to my promise. However, I'm sad to say I have lost most of my notes that I made regarding what people wanted from me.
Please get in touch with me here or via email to re-confirm your order.
I'm very sorry for how long I have been absent and how long many of you have waited. Thankfully, I held true to my rule of never taking money before starting a project, so only one person (Johnny Blanco) is still owed based on payment.
Thanks for your understanding, and happy inflating!

Howloween 2015 - this weekend!
General | Posted 10 years agoHey all,
Long time no post! I wanted to remind everyone that this Saturday, November 7th, 2015 is the annual Howloween mini con in Metro Vancouver, BC Canada!
If you haven't been, or you have no idea what it is, check out https://www.howloween.ca
Howloween was my first official furry event and one of my fondest memories from all those years ago. This year marks my 8th year running it after Kodi started it back in 2002 (9th year if you count my parents house in 2007), and our theme is "Giant Monster Attack"!
I hope you can make it! It's only $20 at the door anytime on Saturday, and we do a completely FREE bad movie night on the Friday night beforehand at 7pm, movie at 8:30!
Hope to see many of you there!

Cons in 2015
General | Posted 11 years agoHey all!
I know I've been quiet on here and I do appreciate all the kind comments and shouts I still receive. Thank you to each of you!
This year, my convention schedule has been trimmed more than I'd like, but I'm gonna make the most of it. Previously planned fursuit projects are delayed a bit as well, and I'm still working on another suit that I'm hoping I find more time for this year. Here's hoping :)
Most of the conventions I'm attending this year are local or within driving distance of my home town to save on money, or I'm staffing. EverFree is the one major convention I am attending just to enjoy, although I'll probably wind up staffing again somehow:
• March 5-8 - VancouFur - Vancouver, BC (staff)
• April 3-5 - Fan Expo Vancouver (501st legion booth)
• May 8-10 - Northern Fancon - Prince George, BC (501st legion booth)
• May 29-31 - EverFree NorthWest - Seattle, WA (attending)
• July 17-19 - Anime Evolution - Vancouver, BC (attending?)
• Aug 21-23 - BronyCAN - Vancouver, BC (staff)
• Sept 24-27 - RainFurrest - Seattle, WA (staff)
• Oct 2-4 - VCON - Vancouver, BC (staff)
• Nov (early) - Howloween - Vancouver, BC (chairphin)
As you can see, only a few furry cons this year due to distance keeping me from more. Many of the other cons I list above are gracious enough to give me passes (and even travel money/hotel in some cases) for helping raise charity money with the 501st legion. Can't turn down a fun weekend for close-to-free!
Hopefully I'll see some of you at the cons!

My Cons for 2014
General | Posted 12 years agoHey all!
I was just going through the conventions I plan to attend this year, which thanks to my interests in Furry, 501st, and Pony stuff, has become quite a large number. :)
• Furry - Jan 16-19 - Further Confusion (Attending)
• Furry - Feb 27-Mar 2 - VancouFur (Con Ops lead)
• General - Mar 28-30 - Emerald City Comic Con (501st booth)
• General - April 18-20 - FanExpo Vancouver (501st booth)
• Furry - May 23-25 - Furlandia (Attending)
• Brony - July 3-6 - EverFree NW (Attending)
• Brony - Aug 22-24 - BronyCAN (Cop Ops lead)
• Furry - Sept 25-29 - RainFurrest (Dead Dog Lead)
• General - Oct 3-5 - VCON (Con Ops Lead?)
• Furry - Nov 8 (?) - Howloween (Chairphin)
I MAY have to start trimming a little. Recently, I've had to put out of Furlandia and Emerald City Comicon due to the week of vacation pay this serious bought of H1N1 required me to use. Most of the other cons are minimal cost to me other than driving time and possibly hotel.
Once again, sadly, I do not have the funds nor time to travel to Europe, although I sure wish I could. <3 you guys over there!
I have a new fursuit project planned for the next 6 months as well as another which I'm hoping will come along soon. Until then, ioco is suiting me (ha?) just fine!

Howloween 2013 - Alien Abduction - a success!
General | Posted 12 years agoA big, big thank you to all of our record 202 attendees who came to Howl for the 6th year I have run it! I had an awesome time hosting the event, and I really am glad to hear so many positive things coming out of it. Boy, I need a breather after all that, though!
As always, huge thank you to all the people who helped run events and do all the necessities like registration, security, DJing (both during the day and dance), artwork, panel ideas, lighting, decoration setup, load in and out, teardown, and all the other things needed to make this event function.
HUGE Thank you to Temrin for all her help this year! She was a god send and the event would truly not be the same without her. Website, social media, signs, artwork, bowling tickets, and.. just general "get this done" is only SOME of the amazing things she accomplished for us this year! <3 I really can't thank you enough!!
Also, shout out and thank you to Darcy for running security all of Saturday and for the huge amount of help provided both with load in and load out, Gizmo (and partner.. sorry.. forgot your name!) and Jason for running registration, Thea for the AWESOME t-shirt artwork, Orwin for the DJing during the day events & loaning us your fancy new mixer, Akonite for coordinating all the dances along with all the fantastic DJs who put in all their time to making their sets for us, Torwin for the dance lighting and for supplying very nearly ALL of the equipment for it (!), Whovianart for running both Outburst and MCing the Furry Feud (and digging up questions) plus all the setup and teardown assistance, Trapa for running Battleship & for the last minute XLR cable supply, Tai for coordinating the Sunday bowling for everyone, and to ALL OF YOU WHO HELPED WITH EVERY LITTLE THING all weekend! You make it all possible to do this, and thank you, thank you, thank you!!
I am happy to report I am also NOT going into debt thanks to the great turnout we had, and we should even be able to buy some equipment for VancouFur and Howloween this coming year! It's all possible thanks to all of you coming and showing your support!
Big dolphin hugs,

BronyCAN wrapped up!
General | Posted 12 years agoWell, I never thought I'd be saying this, but BronyCAN was A BLAST. Seriously. I can't even explain why, but I had more fun staffing that con then I've had at any con in my 6+ years of staffing cons.
$7600+ to Childrens Hospital. 820+ attendees. 6 Voice Actors from the show, plus special guests. Incredibly motivated and dedicated staff. Great media coverage of the event. Honestly, I can't picture a 1st year con going much better!
For those who don't know, I was asked to consider helping with BronyCAN about a month ago by
trapa, particularly since he was unable to attend due to his trip to eurofurence this year. At the time, I had no interest in My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, although I had watched a handful of episodes and was aware of what it was about. The staff were new to running conventions and had a great ground work in place, but lacked a good deal of operational experience and knowledge they needed to really pull things together.
Trapa's line to me regarding MLP was, "Maybe you'll find a way to like it". He suggested I give it another try. So, I did. I had been watching a lot of dramatic shows like Dexter and Breaking bad, and while I love both of those series, they are.. not exactly uplifting. With being single and feeling a little down these days, I needed a pick-me-up. I don't know what exactly happened; something to do with Ashleigh Ball's voice of Rainbow Dash, along with some very creative writing in a few episodes, but .. I'm hooked. This show is exactly what I need right now :)
That inspiration followed with my immediate jump into staff. .. And a ton of absolutely frivolous pony merchandise purchases. :)
The BronyCAN staff, including chairman Jay, HR guy SilverShock, and others expressed their gratitude for my opinions and thoughts on the plethora of subjects that encompass running a con like this. Jay, being from Saskatchewan, was obviously disassociated from the physical side of the convention until his arrival a week before, so I helped out where I could, along with Silver and others. There were certainly a good number of challenges. The largest challenge was an IT need that sprung up unexpectedly that required
VancouFur to provide a full set of registration equipment. Mindseye was able to donate a server for the convention's usage.
Trapa and
Rainfurrest donated the use of their hard card printers. It was truly a team effort.
In the end, I wound up running on about 4 hours of sleep a night for 2 weeks leading up to the con. To say it was a lot of work is a huge understatement. I know for a fact I was not the only one with this kind of schedule, either. It takes a LOT of work to get a con like this to happen.
Kristie, aka Rabbitausaur, had the job of wrangling all the show guests and VIPs and setting their schedules for appearances, autographs, interviews with media, etc. Wow. She sure had her hands full. I tried to help where I could.
A number of panelists didn't show up to their panels, and some were quite involved panels that included the contracted show talent. Somehow, we jumped in and salvaged those situations. Moreso, Lee Tockar is MY HERO. He is one of the voice actors on the show, and easily the most fun person I have met in the past few years. Incredibly dedicated, wanting to help, and... just a total class act. I can't even count the number of times he stepped in to make an awkward or desperate situation work out for the best. You rock, dude!!
On a personal side, I was absolutely not ready for just how excited I was to meet Andrea Libman. I have always been a fan of voice actors in general; I think it started with Optimus Prime way way back when I was very young. I listen to the voices that people contribute to characters and it is often my initial interest in the character. This was certainly the case for Rainbow Dash, who is voiced by Ashleigh Ball (who I really want to meet one day). Another character that really grabbed me.. well, actually two.. are Pinkie Pie and Flutter Shy, both voiced by Andrea Libman. Andrea is a Vancouver native (born in Toronto, but raised here) and ex child actor who provides her unique, smooth, but high-pitched voice to these two characters. Not only a talented person, she was a complete sweetheart and put up with my ridiculous requests of her during the VIP dinner and autograph signing. She was a true pleasure to talk to and.. dare I say, get to know! She honestly made all this effort for the con worth it.
I also got to meet and talk to Tabitha St Germain (Rarity, Luna, Granny Smith, and a ton more), Vincent Tong (Prince Blueblood, Donut Joe, plus others), Claire Corlett (Sweetie Bell), Rebecca Shoichet (singing voice for Twilight Sparkle & for the show intro), and briefly with Nicole Gauss (one of the show character designers) who also drew me an MLP style dolphin in my sketch book!
I had a blast. I will absolutely be helping with next year's con, assuming we can pull one together, and I have a set of memories I will not soon forget. I am, without any shadow of a doubt, a brony now.
BTW, Rainbow Dash is best pony ;)

To my new watchers - THANK YOU!
General | Posted 13 years agoSince I never seem to be able to send thank yous to everyone, I wanted to take a moment to thank each and every watcher that has watched me in the past few months! Also, to those who stick around and continue to put up with my crap, THANK YOU to you too!
I may have to stop sending thank yous to watchers, so please don't feel bad if you do not get a reply. I get too busy to respond sometimes and the new limit to how many you can send in a day makes it much more difficult to blast through a long list.
Thanks again!

Howloween this Saturday!
General | Posted 13 years agoHey all,
To those who don't already know, Howloween is this Saturday, here in Vancouver, BC Canada! This will be my 5th year running it after having taken it over from
kodipup and I highly encourage those on the west coast to attend, if you can! Our hotel rocks, our events rock, and or DJs will ROCK you. They know how to.. rock the boat.. in our nautical themed year! *insert drum roll here*
Seriously though, if you're in the area and you want something to do for Saturday, or you feel like bowling this Sunday with a ton of other fuzzies, make your way to the executive hotel in Burnaby, BC and extend your halloween to the very last day you can!

Hope to see you there!

Help Akonite! DJ gear STOLEN! :(
General | Posted 13 years agoToday at some point during his work day, someone broke into Akonite's suite and stole all of his equipment; His computers, his hard drives, his Traktor S4, all other DJ gear.. gone.
Sadly, insurance will not cover the loss, nor his years and years of lost music he could not recover even if the equipment is replaced. His custom sets and streams from over the years were on his computers and backup drives that were taken.
He is not a wealthy man. He works nearly non-stop to pay bills for himself and still run cons like vancoufur and furtherecord and elektrofuzz events. He travels all over the world to DJ for different furry conventions and events. If you heard him DJ even once, understand how much money and time goes into him being there to entertain you. Consider a donation if nothing else as gratitude for all he has done to bring some OONTZ to the fandom!
Akonite would NEVER ask for help, but this man is as close to a brother to me than anyone I've ever known. We've been close friends since early high school. He is the last person to deserve to have such a terrible thing as this happen, and I hope some of you can help.
For those willing.. torwin has made up a paypal that is being used for donations to akonite. Most of you know me. I do not post "please donate" threads. I am today.
Donations to
Akonite:
Thank you in advance for your generosity, everyone, and I will update here as I hear more.
*** Update 1:
Akonite has posted a journal about what happened. The theives thankfully missed his laptop (in a bag) that had fallen behind a table, but he's still missing nearly all music and data that was on his desktop iMac machine. For those curious, insurance coverage is not to blame, but more lack of adequate coverage, as per Akonite's words: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/3951067/
Thank you VERY much to all who have donated! We are at a point where torwin is able to make a few replacement purchases already! Thank you all for your consideration and your hard earned funds towards this cause.
*** update 2:
As of oct 24, we are approximately $200 away from replacing Akonites iMac! Please, help us get all the way there! Thank you in particular to the generous anonymous person who gave a $750 apple store gift certificate, and the additional $500 donation from another anonymous person!!

I am today.

**********************************Thank you in advance for your generosity, everyone, and I will update here as I hear more.
Bunny vs Husky - a video
General | Posted 13 years ago
Snugglebunnyfursuit and I made a video with
kneezle and
alecdeloupe behind the camera in
Ceiliguliminix house when I was over in England shortly after Eurofurence this year.https://youtu.be/LvyaZ5su5F8
Really, we did this for fun, but we had
dingoroo in mind with his crazy cartoon antics in his artwork and videos! I hope you like it!For those curious, every single shot was shot out of sequence. They were assembled later to be a complete video.
I'm going to Eurofurence! Room Acquired!
General | Posted 13 years agoI am VERY excited to say that, thanks to some very good friends (namely
nacaw and
ceiliguliminix), I will be making an unexpected re-appearance at Eurofurence this year! I'll be on a tight budget, but I will be there! I'll be arriving on tuesday thanks to the Furball Run, riding in "Furball One" (i.e. the big red minibus), and leaving on Monday via the same.
At the moment, I am still working out the convention membership and hotel issues. Since this was very unexpected and last minute, I do not have a membership or hotel booked yet. Worst case, I will be staying in the overflow hotel a block away, but I'm really hoping to find a spot in the main hotel if I can. Does anyone want me as a 3rd person in their room? It can be done this way if you request it from the reg department as long as everyone in the room is ok with it. I would be bringing an air mattress to sleep on. Thank you to
mrevers and
ceiliguliminix for offering to share their room with me! I'm paying my membership as we speak.
REEDIT: Looks like I got my own bed, thanks to Darken Tiger! He sold me his spot, and I will be sharing a room along with
pdawg. Should be a great time!
Or.. does anyone have a spare membership they won't be using with hotel stay? I'll, of course, be happy to pay for it.
I'm really excited! I wasn't expecting to be able to come, and I will be honest. I really REALLY need some time away. My only regret is my kitty
akariku can not come with me :( Anyone wanna buy her a plane ticket so she can come too? Hehe :D

General | Posted 13 years agoHey all,
I was aiming to go to AnthroCon this year and I have been speaking to many of you about it over the past month or so. Sadly, due to a number of rather significant factors, I have had to focus my attention elsewhere and skip on AC this year. :( I hope you have a WONDERFUL time if you're lucky enough to be going!
On another note...
The absolutely amazing and talented
apoxon has just started an auction for a custom-made plushie! These are incredibly high quality and well designed plushes of almost any anthro character you choose, and she doesn't offer them up very often, so go put a bid in!

Sorry.. no FurEh for me :(
General | Posted 13 years agoHey all,
I'm really sorry to say that I'm not going to be able to attend FurEh this year. I was looking forward to getting out that way and seeing another great canadian con take it's shape, but sadly, work and personal reasons are going to keep me from going.
I really regret this decision and I hope everyone going has an AWESOME time! Please tell everyone on staff that VancouFur did all we could to promote them!

Fursuit Easter Egg hunt!
General | Posted 13 years agoThanks a ton to
mediar and
apoxon for arranging a fursuit and furry Easter Egg Hunt today here in Vancouver! It was a ton of fun!
tillikum and
Reeve were visiting from out of town and were part of a large group of about 15 suiters who participated in a brief, sunny attempt to hoard as many plastic easter eggs as possible, with local kids helping out!
A set of photos was taken by
akonite with my Nikon D7000 and 18-70 lens, all of which can be viewed here:

I hope we can do it again next year!

Further Confusion 2012 Meme
General | Posted 14 years agoSome info you may or may not care to hear about! :D
Are you attending Further Confusion?
Umm.. yes :)
Where are you staying?
Main Hotel - Marriot, Fursuit level, Room 702!
Who are you staying with?
furryFoxfur,
Tillikum,
G4omon
Who are you travelling with?
Driving in my car with
G4omon from Vancouver, then flying out of Seattle.
When do you leave and depart?
Arriving via Alaska Air AS0320 on Thursday at 6:52am to 9:02am
Departing via Alaska Air AS0323 on Tuesday at 6:30am to 8:37am
Isn't that stupid early?
Yes. ... Yes. :(
Who are you hoping to hang around with?
Anyone! I'm particularly hoping to spend time with
FurryFoxFur and
tillikum and will likely be suiting with them a LOT! Also looking forward to spending time with squeaky friends
reinhardt and
ipequey as well as any other looners, and any other fursuiters who want to hang out :)
What will you be doing at the con?
Fursuiting a lot, I'm sure! I tend to wander around and find old friends, and hopefully new ones! I'll also be snapping photos with my Nikon D7000 and new Speedlight flash when I can.
Can I invite you to lunch or dinner?
Sure! I've had trouble making dinner plans stick, but I'd love to come if i can make it happen! I am just as happy to grab a quick meal nearby and hang out with people during it. I'm <kinda> trying to save money this con, so cheap meals are better for me. I eat a LOT of gyros from that awesome place close to the previous hotel, and I often munch on things from the local supermarkets.
Is your awesome girlfriend coming along with you?
*sniff* ... no. She can't make it this year. She's making me some awesome badges to take with me, though!
Does this mean I can have you for myself?
... Please no. :P I'm very happily involved, straight, and monogamous!
Can I talk to you?
Yes! I love meeting new people, and I am full of (useless) stories about dolphin training, fursuiting outside the fandom, whale research, balloons, photography, cars, drag racing, old school video games, RC Cars and AR Drones, and anything Apple or Computer related :)
Can I take your picture?
Yes! Ask for a pose and I'll try to give you ioco's best side! Ask me out of suit and I will probably wonder why you care to photograph me, but.. go ahead anyway :)
Can I hug ioco?
Sure! Anytime!
Can I snuggle ioco?
If I know you, and I feel like it, I might go along. The only thing that gets you guaranteed snuggles is if you give ioco a big, latex balloon :D Keep in mind, helium balloons are not allowed in the convention space, but the hotel is fine. Uninflated works too! Balloons make ioco smile a lot! :D
Can I touch you below the belt?
If you do, you'll be tasting fuzzy paw in the face pretty darn quick, followed by a sudden reintroduction to the floor.
Can I steal ioco back to my room for some seriously inappropriate, not work safe fun?
Sorry, ioco is 100% clean, and a blue and white tiger will likely claw your eyes out if you try too hard :)
Are you some kind of inflatophile?
No, not really.. common misconception. I do enjoy some inflatables made by Puffy Paws and other such people, but merely because I find the medium really cool and the items cute as heck. The only thing I am truly interested in are balloons.. big ones specifically. Just don't pop them around me, please!
Can I buy you a drink?
I don't think anyone ever actually has! I do not drink alcohol due to personal and medical reasons, but I will gladly enjoy a non-alcoholic drink while you have whatever you like. I mostly drink soda, unless you can find a Californian who knows how to make a good virgin Caesar... (fat chance!)
Do you smoke? Do you use "party enhancers"?
Nope, sorry. Hookah is an occasional indulgence but nothing much else.
Do you party at ALL?
I have a great deal of fun at parties and enjoy them greatly!
Shameless plug for my little balloon printing hobby:
Will you have any of those awesome printed balloons with you?
Yes! Feel free to ask me for a free 'business card' if you're interested in balloons, or if you wanna purchase any of my home-printed furry-themed balloons, I'm happy to sell them to you! They are $2 each for 24" balloons with the print of your choice (smiley dog, smiley cat, silly fox, or double paw print). Supplies are limited!
Can I order any balloons from you for delivery to the con?
If you want any of my existing prints, then yes! Just tell me the quantity! Sorry, but I cannot take any orders for custom artwork prints in time for the con.
Can I order any balloons with a custom print for AFTER the con?
Yes! This is a great time to order as I can purchase stock while at the con and bring it back with me. My balloon supplier, www.grandballoons.net, lives in the San Jose area and is happy to deliver un-printed balloons to me, or you, directly at the convention. They have an awesome selection!
If you have any questions at all, feel free to post them and I'll try to add them to this list!

Be careful what you agree to do
General | Posted 14 years agoThe internet has far reaching arms. I went to Eurofurence this year, and it was a blast. While there, I kept hearing from various people that EZWolf was shooting a music video. I was invited and so, naturally, I went to investigate.
It was a lot of fun. The people were really awesome and we all had a great time while filming it. No regrets there. EZWolf and Tillikum were really great to us, and Cheetah for lending us his room.
We were all told that the video would be a tasteful, M-TV style music video with a particular song used as the background. We danced, we posed, and some of the group did a bit more, but none of it more than teasing. At the time, I was worried that it may be seen negatively by many given the seemingly constant influx of sexuality that betroths our fandom in general. Really, it was just something 'fun' to do.
I now have seen it, and I see it's an age-restricted video. It's now been subsequently pulled from youtube by EZWolf, and reposted by others illegally. It's also being trolled and talked about incredibly negatively by some people I respect. I should have known better than to involve myself.
Nothing against EZWolf and the group who did the video. They did nothing wrong... I guess. They just wanted to make a music video and they happened to make it 'realistic' in the sense that it was... riskee. I am frankly rather flattered that I was asked to be included! I was also used very minimally and I think I was even excluded from certain shots intentionally (thank you). However, I do regret my choice in going ahead with it, regardless. Believe me, and you can ask anyone who was there, I was on the fence about it even before filming. I finally told myself.. whatever. Have fun. Do something different and out of your norm.
*sigh*
Just be careful of the things you do at cons! That's all I can say. I just hope I don't live to regret the choice even more later.
