Summer Update - Hoodies and Kigus
Posted 9 years agoHey guys!
Thanks and welcome to all of my new watchers, and thanks to all my old watchers for sticking with me! You all rock.
Summer has been a little busy –a wedding, a trip to visit my grandpa, and a trip to Las Vegas for my birthday (it was a milestone birthday, so I wanted to do something really neat), and of course, lots of sewing.
We’re 8 down, and 6 to go! Some are surprises (and this list is in no way chronological), but bear with me.

Terms of Service: Hoodie and Kigu Commissions
Posted 9 years agoTERMS OF SERVICE: HOODIE AND KIGURUMI COMMISSIONS
References
All references should be accurate and up-to-date. If your reference is inaccurate, please specify the changes/alterations in your initial inquiry email. It is the responsibility of the buyer to ensure their references are accurate (this includes color, markings, appendages, etc.).
Failure to inform me of incorrect references prior to the start of your commission will result in additional fees to cover the cost of replacement material. added 12/20/19
All references should be SFW (safe for work) and should not contain content over PG-13 (no nudity). If your only available reference contains graphic content, please black it out prior to sending/linking. You will not receive a quote if you send/link NSFW references.
Quotes
Every applicant will receive an email following a commission opening. However, only accepted commissions and waitlisted customers will receive a quote.
Quotes are valid for the current round of commissions only.
Minors Policy
Unfortunately, at this time I do not accept commissions from minors (anyone under 18 years of age). I strongly discourage parents from commissioning me by proxy.
Fascist Furs Policy
I do not want my work associated with fascist, nazi, or alt-right (MAGA) furries, and will not knowingly accept commissions from individuals associated with these hate groups. I reserve the right to refund any down payment from the aforementioned individuals. Should materials for the project already be purchased, you will receive a refund minus the cost for materials and any time spent on your project.
If you personally identify as a member of any of these groups, I am not the artist for you.
Accepted Commissions
All accepted applications must pay their 50% down payment and specified measurements within 72 hours (3 business days) of their email notification. Failure to send either may result in a lost space within the commission line.
I do not place commission slots on hold.
Waitlist Status (what does it mean?)
Customers who have been waitlisted will receive a number indicating their place in the waitlist. Should another customer back out of a commission slot/change their mind, waitlisted person number 1 will be notified, then 2, 3 and so on.
Waitlisted customers have 72 hours (3 business days) from their notification email to submit their 50% down payment and specified measurements. Failure to do so will result in a loss of que number.
Waitlisted customers have the opportunity to apply to the following round of commissions with their initial quote (please be sure to specify you were waitlisted in the previous round).
Measurements
It is your responsibility to ensure that their measurements are accurate and taken in accordance with how you would like your garment to fit. Inaccurate measurements may result in an uncomfortable or poorly fitted garment.
Payment
A 50% down payment is due within 72 hours (3 days) of the acceptance email unless otherwise specified. Failure to do so may result in a lost space within the commission line. Payments over 50% will be refunded and you will be asked to correct the error.
All payments should be sent via paypal, in US Dollars. Payments sent in other currencies will be refunded and you will be asked to correct the error.
All customers must specify sale, and not gift. Payments sent as gifts will be refunded and you will be asked to correct the error.
Refunds
Refunds on down payments are only issued if for some reason I am no longer able to complete your commission (either due to personal injury, illness, or death).
Turnaround Times
Average turnaround times range from 4 to 8 weeks but vary based on what fabric is in stock, shipping times (most fabric is ordered online and shipped internationally to Canada), payment and email date.
It is strongly recommended that you have your full payment ready when making your 50% down payment.
Shipping/Postage
You are responsible for covering any and all shipping costs. This includes postage, insurance/tracking, and any customs fees that may occur.
Please note I ship from Canada – average postage to the continental USA is $45 USD, but can go up to $65 and higher, depending on the size of the package and travel distance.
Improper Fits, Alterations and Repairs
Hoodies and kigurumis are sewn to your specifications. It is your responsibility to ensure measurements are taken correctly.
If a hoodie or kigurumi should not fit properly and is sewn within 1” of your specifications, you may return their garment for alterations. You are responsible for covering the shipping and alteration costs.
If a hoodie or kigurumi should not fit properly and has a greater than 1” discrepancy between the garment’s measurements and those sent, I will cover the cost of shipping and alterations.
Alterations and repairs not related to sizing can be done. Cost of materials, labor and shipping are the customer’s responsibility.
Photos and Media
I reserve the right to post photos of hoodies and kigurumis for promotional purposes, unless otherwise specified by the buyer during initial inquiry emails (eg. Surprises for friends, cons, etc.).
By accepting a commission slot and paying your 50% down payment, you are agreeing to these terms of service.

VancouFUR 2016, Hoodies, and Kigus
Posted 9 years agoOur VancouFur trip actually started almost a week earlier than scheduled. We had a family emergency on Vancouver Island and needed to pack up all of our convention stuff (plus an extra week’s worth of clothes, the cat, etc), and zip down to Vancouver and the Island. Of course, this happened the day after I caught the flu, so it was a very dazed trip.
It also meant that between my health and the emergency, I wasn’t able to finish the last few things I’d intended to, for the convention. Oh well. There’s always next year. 0 regrets.
We got back in time to rest for a day, by which point I was basically healthy (aside from coughing and feeling a smidge nauseous).
VancouFur
THANK YOU SO MUCH to everyone who swung by my table, either to chat or to purchase merchandise. It was great to visit with so many people!
Also,
A HUGE thank you to everyone who came to my dinosaur panel, treasure hunt panel, and hoodie panel!
Let me tell you, it is really difficult to plan treasure hunt clues without having set foot in the place you’ll be hosting the treasure hunt. All in all, I think it went okay. Thank goodness for
rhari sending me a map of the hotel, and for Google Maps (earth view), hahaha.
A big shout-out to
malicaifox for making those awesome Apoxon Industries tags you may have seen floating around the con, and a big shoutout to everyone wearing Apoxon Industries swag who got one! It was great seeing so many folks at the photoshoot (although I know not everyone could make it).
The new hotel was great (a little confusing at first, but all hotels are), and I was super impressed by how well everyone followed the rules (no one was overly rowdy, people respected hotel property, fetish gear was kept inside until after 10pm – making it a family-friendly event, etc).
A convention to be proud of! We’ll definitely be coming back next year.
Hoodie/Kigu Stuff
Thanks to everyone who sent in hoodie and kigu requests. It was really tough to pick folks, this round! I’m super excited to work on such neat characters ;w;
Fabric has been ordered and now we wait!

Apoxon Rants about PRICING ARTWORK
Posted 10 years agoI’ve seen a lot of conversations about furry artist pricing over the years, and I’ve been biting my tongue, but I think it’s about time I throw my two big thoughts into the midst.
Tl;dr
1.) Art is worth what people are willing to pay for it.
2.) Drawing furry art commissions (99% of the time) isn’t the same thing as working in the professional art industry, and so comparing furry pricing to industry pricing is like comparing apples to oranges.
The Long Version
1.) Art is worth what people are willing to pay for it, but that doesn’t mean artists should be charging more, or charging less. What it does mean is that customers aren’t just paying for the artist’s time, they’re paying for the artist’s experience and skill. The more experience (and well-known) an artist, and the more skill they have, the more they can charge for their work.
And that’s completely fair (keep in mind that skill is subjective, as is style, and style effects your audience). If people are willing to pay for an artists’ work, and you don’t think it’s worth that much, you’re probably not their intended audience.
This is one of the reasons I don't offer commissions like these: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1841466/
They take too long and my skill/experience isn't such that anyone would be willing to pay for them.
2.) Furry is not the mainstream art industry. Most of the time, drawing tentacle porn is not the same thing as working in the industry.
But a lot of artists have started using ‘industry standard prices’ to remind their customers of what a good deal they’re getting**. And I can understand the kneejerk reaction – it’s super frustrating when someone devalues your work. But whether an artist has an art degree, is self-taught, freelances, or works in the art industry (animation, graphic design, etc.), their art is still only worth what customers are willing to pay for it.
So yeah, furries are getting a deal on quality artwork, the same way you get a deal on rent living in the middle of nowhere, versus a metropolis. You can compare the prices, but the argument isn’t really relevant.
**EDIT
When i say 'using industry standard prices' i don't mean charging industry standards, i mean saying 'well if this WERE THE ART INDUSTRY i could charge you X.'

Bandanimals!
Posted 10 years agoRecently, I’ve been receiving a lot of notes and emails about BANDANIMALS!
Specifically ‘you designed them so can you make one/print one for me?’ Which I’ve had to answer ‘no,’ for a variety of reasons.
But guys? GUYS!
Bandanimals are BACK!
Or at least, they will be, in February. They’re being released through Nomad Complex (@NomadComplex on twitter), with permission/approval from KLM and myself.
Look for them in February!
cheers!

Kigurumi and Hoodie Commissions - General Info
Posted 10 years agoWhen commissions open, please be aware of the following:
Hoodies and Kigu slots are not first come/first serve. I choose designs based on how well I feel I can replicate the character, as well as interest. Generally I choose 4-7 designs to work with (sometimes more, sometimes less).
Please be aware that sewing is not my Day-Job. Turn-around time varies, and is based on my Day-Job (whose hours are unpredictable), but is typically 6-10 weeks.
There is also a cat present in the household (she can be kept out of the stuido upon request, however her fur tends to sneak in on my clothing and socks).
To get a slot, you’ll need to send me an email at apoxon [dot] industries [at] gmail [dot] com
Inquiries sent through Telegram or Twitter DM will not receive a response.
Please be sure to include:[/b][/u]

- do I have your permission to post pictures of your commission online (either on my FA, or as work in progress/finished shots on twitter)? If so, after what date?
- What are your Twitter/FA usernames, so that I can tag you in submissions and tweets?
- any allergies you may have (I’ll do my best to be sure I don’t bring your garment into contact with allergens, but it’s much easier to do this when I know what those allergens are) **there is a cat in the household - she can be kept out of the studio, however her fur may still sneak in on my clothing**
- any additional information, questions, or concerns you have
(I have a FAQ section here: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/7844338/ )
Hoodies start at $200 and go up based on size and complexity.
Kigurumis start at $300 and go up based on size and complexity.
Your quote is only valid for this round of hoodies, unless waitlisted (see my TOS for more information: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/7533633/)

Hoodies and Kigus! And a busy month!
Posted 10 years agoFirst off!
whitefoot and I are married! Like, honest to goodness husband-and-wife married! The day was beautiful and went perfectly.
We headed down to the US VI’s for the following week. When we got back, I moved the rest of my things up to Kelowna, and two days later I had a job interview for a position in my field. I got a phone call the following Monday offering me the job, and I’m currently in training.
Second!
I’m not sure how busy my new job will be keeping me, but I do want to continue sewing hoodies and kigus (it’ll be at a slower pace – 1-2 month turn-around). I’m expecting to open for 1-3 slots on the 25th! Keep your eyes open! Hoodies start at $135, Kigus start at $250!
Speaking of! I hope to make a hoodie-sewing tutorial in the next few weeks (I heard there was some interest in that?)
Hope everyone is having a great November!

Update! Busy busy busy
Posted 10 years agoWell guys, it's about time i post this!
My life is going through a few VERY big changes in the next month (and has been over the past month!).
To start with, a month from today
whitefoot and I will be getting married! I'm so excited (and BUSY, OMG. I had no idea weddings were so much work! hahaha)
We're also in the process of moving to the interior of BC - there's been a lot of driving back and forth lately (and it's a 5 hour drive each way)!
I also just finished my last (and most intensive) year of schooling. i am now a certified teacher! YAY! I'll actually be walking across the graduation stage a day before the wedding, how's that for a busy weekend? lol.
What these changes mean for my watchers:
1.) I may be slow on posting stuff in the next few weeks (much like i have been over the past year, much to my regret).
2.) Once i get a more permanent job in my field, sewing will transition from a necessity to a hobby, meaning there's a good chance i won't be sewing hoodies and kigus as often.
But don't worry! That doesn't mean i won't be taking commissions anymore! just that openings will be fewer and farther between. So I'll have to make sure to give LOTS of notice before i open! :3
cheers!
- Apoxon
ps. Despite the chaos, there's a chance i'll be able to make it to RF for a day or two, so keep your eyes open for me! i'll be the girl roaming around with a can of pepsi in one hand and a bundle of pixi sticks in the other, hahaha.

- an accurate/up-to-date reference sheet and/or several images that clearly depict your character’s markings FRONT and BACK. SFW (Safe For Work) references are strongly preferred.
- what size shirt you normally wear (XS, S, M, L, XL, etc)
- if you have a particular color preference for hoodie liner (loud/vibrant/busy or subtle/single color/calm etc), as well as designs you like/hate.
- what style cuffs you would like (regular - http://www.furaffinity.net/view/8596701/
or thumb holes - http://www.furaffinity.net/view/9585980/ )
- if a kigu, whether you'd like a zipper or buttons
- do I have your permission to post pictures of your commission online (either on my FA, or as work in progress/finished shots on twitter)?
- any allergies you may have (I’ll do my best to be sure I don’t bring your garment into contact with allergens, but it’s much easier to do this when I know what those allergens are)
- any additional information, questions, or concerns you have
(I have a FAQ section here: http://apoxon.livejournal.com/245433.html )
Please do not send me notes via FA- it makes working on your commission very difficult when the system goes down.
Hoodies start at $135 and go up based on size and complexity.
Kigurumis start at $250 and go up based on size and complexity.
Your quote is only valid for this round of hoodies.
Please note that once accepted, I ask for a 50% non-refundable downpayment up front, along with your measurements. Please please please send your measurements along with your downpayment.
Information on measurements and how to measure yourself for a hoodie can be found here:
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/8345923/
***It's VERY IMPORTANT that you tell me if you've measured yourself for how you'd like your hoodie to fit, or if you've taken the measurements skin tight***
Quotes do not include shipping, however I am happy to provide you with a shipping estimate as well, if you include your city/state and/or post/zip code. Please note that I mail from Canada.
Please respond to your quote within 72 hours (this includes your 50% downpayment, and measurements – please include your name on the paypal note, so I know who it’s from) or your slot may be given to someone else.

As in, i will open for commissions, but i'll only be taking 1 or 2. I'd like to limit my cue so i can focus on wedding planning and moving.

I'll be picking 1-2 hoodies/kigus to complete. This will not be a first-come-first-serve decision so please don't stress! I'll respond to your emails by the 23rd.
To get a slot, you’ll need to send me an email at apoxon [dot] industries [at] gmail [dot] com

***Mask Auction!*** (+ hoodie/kigu update!)
Posted 10 years agoHey guys!
Ever wanted a fancy mask? i've put my Foo Dog mask up for auction, for a very affordable price!
check it out!
http://www.thedealersden.com/auctio.....tion_id=118973
He'll be up until Sunday! ;w;
---
In other news, there are some pretty Big Days coming up in my future!
whitefoot and i are getting married two months from yesterday. I'm so excited (i think he is, too, haha), but there's so much to do!
That said... aside from turning in a final project (my dinosaur youtube channel, actually), i'm officially done with school! this means i'm a certified teacher! *scream*!
I won't be able to start work until the middle of October, though - based on hiring (it's the summer) and living situations (moving to Kelowna in October), so there's a strong possibility that i'll be opening for 2-3 hoodie and kigu commissions in the next two weeks. keep your eyes peeled!

OMG DINOSAURS!
Posted 10 years agoHey guys!
Something i thought i'd share...
one of my term projects this semester is to create a project that incorporates new technology in some way, and has to do with teaching.
You've probably heard the rumors - i love dinosaurs!
So i decided to create a few youtube videos talking about the different clades ('families') of dinosaurs, and their various adaptations/specializations.
It's still in progress right now- the first video is mostly a preamble to the things i'll be talking about (it's aimed to be accessible to upper-elementary students, as well as adults), and was actually the first time i've made a video this way. ;w;
Feel free to tune in over the next few weeks as i add more!
And expect a video or two from my upcoming trip to Drumheller! (*SCREAM*)
cheers!
