Haven't been able to say much lately, but I just got a PM from one of my commissioners. He was concerned about my lack of progress, so I feel the need to reassure you all that I'm alive.

I'm exhausted right now, so forgive me if there are typos or unreasonable ideas.

I'm going to be blunt. I'm tired. Very very tired. I've got two jobs that demand my entire weekend and a good chunk of my weekdays, as well as full time student status that drains all my thought energy as well as free time. I have been working slowly on commissions, but I see now that I've dug myself in far too deep.

Progress is slow and will continue to be slow. As much as I love art and doing commissions and sharing ideas (all great fun), I'm simply far too boggled down to be expected to produce with the same speed that I've been known for until I can get over the jet lag for this term. I simply dont have it in me right now. It's taking all I've got just to stay awake typing this out, and Hyena, even now, is telling me I should really come to bed.

I realize that this could be very unpleasant news to anyone's who's commissioned me, and furthermore I'm certain it's a bit damaging to my reputation. I understand how frustrating it can be to pay for something and then end up waiting much longer for the results. I truly am sorry for that. I have overestimated my time as well as my ability to carry on under the amount of stress. I have made a mistake, and I will do my absolute best to make up for that.

To remedy this situation, Hyena has agreed to take own chunks of my work load. I've spoken to one of my recent commissioners and he's agreed to be the guinea pig for some collaborating between the hyena and I. My part is currently done, and I've passed the material on to him. When he's finished I'll put the final project up here so you'll see what I'm trying to go for.

The linework is still all me. I'm still doing the concepts as well as the sketching and most of the inking. After that, Hyena has agreed to refine some of the inking (mostly just for shade purposes) and then do all of the coloring and the back-ground. If any of you have taken the time to check his page, you'll see he's far more talented with the brush than I am anyway. So hopefully the result will be far superior than anything I'd be able to produce on my own.

So please PLEASE dont think I've forgotten you or pulled some crazy PogoRoo stunt and run off with everybody's money! I'm working my poor withered claw off I assure you x.x

I'm really sorry about all this. Be it the whole situation I'm in or the sob-bullshit in this post. Today has been quite a day, and I really just need some sleep.

I remember when free time was easy to come by. Now I get a day off- draw the whole time, realize I'm not near done, and then realize the day is gone.

This sucks.

Anyway, dont be fooled by my lack of updates. I've had a couple of deadlined commissions so I've been putting all my time into them (you'll notice the anonymous commission below). I'm not exactly able to say anything about it yet (you'll see soon), but for the record it's been an ass-buster x.x I'm currently hacking away at the rest now and have concepts going out to most of you. I've severely overestimated my spare time, and for that I apologize.

I haven't touched Persona 4 yet, which I recieved as a gift. That's how badly I'm trying to catch up.

It...it's very hard not to play it. I'm crying inside. Really >.<

In other news, I got to work too early (wtf right?) the other day and nobody was there. So to pass the time I hoped on 1up, whose podcast is awesome and I listen to whenever I get the ability, and made a neat little 1up page. I'll probably nerd out there sometimes. The semester is finally over! Had a big get together with the campus buddies to celebrate the end of the worst 16 weeks of our college career. Burn After Reading is damn funny if you're into black comedy a la Pulp Fiction, fyi.

So! Now that I've kicked my classwork out the window for 3 or 4 weeks I can devote my time entirely to drawing, them thar vidja games, and the hyena. It'll be nice to have some peace and quiet.

As for other news, I'll be at Anime St. Louis in March, hanging with the girlz. We're dividing up an artist table so I'll be doing some sketches and selling some stuff along with hyena-kun  atownsend. Maka and Momo, two very talented artists (and uber anime nerdz) as well as Sora (!), who is apparently gonna make killer plushezzzz that talk (omgwtf?) will be there as well, hanging at the tablez. Ok, AC 09 has been called off on this end. Hyena and I decided that it's way too big for a starting con and we really cant afford that kind of trip. We're going to downscale it a bit and head to Tennessee for MFM instead. Going from 4000 to a more comfortable 700 or so. Hopefully I'll be able to see some of you there. I've been excited to interact a little more.

On the con note, we'll also be heading to Anime St. Louis in St. Louis, Missouri in March.  mideonwerewolf has so graciously agreed to let us stay with him during the con and show us the area. He's such a sweetheart <3

Be not discouraged

First of all, I'd like to give a big thanks to everyone who's commissioned me as of late.  atownsend and I originally agreed that we wouldn't get any presents for eachother for Christmas this year. Money is tight (well...money is tight with ME mostly, he makes about double of what I do since he works full time. I have class :/) We decided that we'd rather give to our close family and save what was left over (if any) to put toward our trip to AC next June (which is coincidentally very close to our anniversary), and that would be our gift to eachother. Hope everyone had a good turkey day! :D It's amazing how much I can fit into my stomach.

Ok! The semester is winding up now! You know what that means! I'm going to ceremoniously burn all my books in my back yard :D Oh Honors Humanities 400, you were so very stimulating, but your workload I will not miss! Nay! The Brothers Karamazov! A masterpiece of literature! A true profound adventure through text! Your length was astounding, and your final essay is yet ahead of me like a dark cloud on the horizon!

But seriously it was a pretty good book if you sit down and really read into it.

Anyway! With finals rapidly approaching (only a week or so I believe), I'm going to really have to crack down. So to all my commissioners, your progress reports are going to slow down a little and I ask that you please bear with me a tad! It shouldn't effect anyone too much (and I'm going to tell the hyena to hide Left 4 Dead until I get my artwork done >:3), but just in case I panic and devout hours into studying (I...somehow doubt it), then I have forewarned you. However, the most it should delay anything would be a few days.

I'm probably going to begin preregistration toward the beginning of December. I didnt want to get anything set in stone until I knew the travel route to get there and the hotel cost, ect. I'll be rooming up with superfriend amazing SleepyTbone (I dont know that fags username or I'd link the page) and of course  atownsend, whom I'm dragging to PA by either means of plane or car.

So, that being said, this is going to be our first con. Neither the hyena nor myself have ever entertained the thought (or had the money for that matter) to do something like this and, I'll admit, it's a little overbearing. For those of you who have gone to cons and the like, is there anything I should know? Any advice you can pass on? Plane or car? Ect?

Okay this is driving me crazy. I dont know how anyone else is seeing my submissions but I've got to know why I'm having this problem.

I run on two desktops. One is connected to the cintiq, which is what i do all the art on (and is running XP), and one I use for games and internet (running Vista). Typically, I sketch, paint, and edit pictures entirely on the cintiq and then port it to my gateway to upload it. Typically this isn't a problem, but most of the time the colors on the two are off. Something I've painted on the cintiq will look how I want it (for instance, on Trake's commission I had the browns perfect. They were much more rich and natural looking) but when I port it over to the gateway it looks like someone has chucked a yellow, low-opacity layer over it. I've adjusted the colors on the monitor to try and match it up with the cintiq numerous times but I cant even come close to getting it right. I dont know which one is the correct coloration and which is screwed. If it's the cintiq that needs adjusting, then I'm painting with a veil and when I submit them they're going to look like garbage on anyone's computer other than my own. But if it's the gateway then I'm going to ignore it and quit letting it bother me.

The problem is that since I only have two extremes, I cant exactly check it, and I suppose it depends on the person looking at and their monitor settings.

Anyone have any advice?

I went to Necropolis last night. For those of you who dont know, it's a haunted house here in Columbia, Missouri. Now, I've never been to a haunted house before, so I may not be the best person to gauge how good it is. However, I will tell you that I've never been more terrified in my entire life and I will never, not for hundreds of dollars, do it again. It was like a madness that never let up or gave you reprieve. It was an inescapable chaos that, even submersed in a group of 8 friends whom I gather the greatest love and support from, I could not reason with. The line between reality and fantasy blurred significantly, and I believe at one point I legitimately feared for my life.

I'm either an enormous coward or this place is incredibly scary. If you enjoy pumping up your stress level like I thought I did, then you'd probably have a good time. But I will disclose to you, in a level of some shame, that mid way through the damn thing I collapsed to my knees and screamed frantically, and could go no further until a friend came back to retrieve me and yank me down the corridor to the next vision of brutality. From then on, until a person (?) of undisclosed gender with a cage encasing its head led us into a closet that imploded on you, everything became a blur. I dont remember much of the vivid detail but I got the general idea, and in my fury of stress only sought to get the fuck out without emotionally breaking.

I will say this for my cowardice. When I finally reached the exit, merciful in it's light from the real world outside, I looked around our group of 8 people and discovered that my hyena was not among us. I panicked and looked around frantically, but it hit me that he had gotten free from the death grip I had his hand in and was still inside. I ran back into that madness- I ran back in - to try to find him.

And ran headfirst into his chest as he was running out.

For those of you who dont know, I'm an English major. Midterms are coming up and I just got slammed with papers- no problem though! The more practice I get with my writing the more confident about it I get, and most of my professors are really inspiring.

Now- I say most very lightly. I have one whom I DESPISE- and I'm going to rant about it now.
So, my really good philosophy buddy Jacob (who's incredibly intelligent, and I really respect him as a writer and soon-to-be-philosopher) get paired up for a mid term project in one of my creative literature classes. We worked hard on our project- trying to make it unique and interesting for the class.

However, my professor caught wind of some of our research material being for another class and, for some reason, this displeased her. We didn't even have to source anything, it certainly wasn't required, but for some reason it put a bug up her ass. Anyway- when we present our project during class, she rudely interrupted us constantly, rolled her eyes when we were trying to speak, covered her eyes, bowed her head, tapped her pen, and in essence was very distracting to the whole class and clearly wasn't listening anyway.

So, we finish and she goes on a rant about how we "didn't put thought or effort into this project and it upsets her that none of us are taking her class seriously." At that point I wanted to punch her in the mouth. We put good effort into that project and she has the audacity to tell us that and accuse us of having poor work ethic in her class. If I recall, I graduated high school 2 years ago and I pay this bitch to treat me with a little bit of respect.

She ended on the note that she was going to revamp the sillybus (mispelled intentionally- haha silly bus pun yuck yuck) for the fourth time and that "whereas you will not be penalized for your lack of effort on this project, I dont feel the need to give you any credit and the whole class needs to cancel their current projects and redo them alone."

Needless to say I was furious for the rest of the day, but Jacob (who remained completely calm and collected the entire time) eventually talked me down and Kit (Genius writer and I respect him a great deal. Also the only other gay guy in my circle of friends) said something very beautiful to me, and it's partly the reason I'm baying to the moon about this drama-llama bullshit.

"You cant worry about it. I think your writing is genius and as long as you have belief in yourself then you'll be fine. Remember that you have to know the most horrible of things before you can grasp the beautiful, and then you have to understand both of them before you can actually grow."

It sounds kind of cheesy but when you hear someone actually say it to you (from the top of their head I might add) it's really powerful. I choked up a bit.

I just recently got my foot in the door with the state, but the hours are SAD (20 every two weeks if that), so I've had to keep my other job, plus I'm still going to classes full time. Also, I've had a couple of e-mails about requests and art trades/commission (!?) and what-have-you so I figured I'd just kinda throw all that out there.

I'm not currently taking requests, but if you're patient with my slowness when it comes to art trades I'm usually game. Commissions? Uhhh.....

I'll be honest, when it comes to commissions I dont know the first thing about them. I accepted them when I was young and stupid and had a few but I really didn't feel right about accepting money for artwork that certainly wasn't that great in my own opinion. I don't even know what fair asking prices would be or any of that, and I dont want it to look like I'm getting a swollen ego for charging for artwork, or worse yet, get laughed at for charging money for artwork produced with insufficient skill. I've seen it happen- it's not pretty, and I don't want to be "that guy"...

There are some brilliant artists out there who far surpass me. Guys like  joveehusky or  decaf or  silverfenrir are hard-working and pocess skill that makes me look like an amatuer, and they are the people who should be getting commissions. Not I.

So I guess if one were to want a commission by me, I could make it happen, but I wont openly state I'm accepting them and I'm not going to price them in some goofy bracket or anything. If you want one, email me or send me a private message and we'll work something out. Otherwise, I'm happy just sharing my art while I make some cool friends and see some cool styles in the process.

So...er....yeah

I'm not dead, I swear. I've just not produced anything worth posting (mostly just anatomy studies and bad sketches) and I've been very busy with work and taking care of my hyena. I'll hopefully become more active sometime next week, but I have to finish building our new desk and shelf so I can finally stop hitting my knee on the second CPU and grinding the chair against the desk nook thing. I hate this desk.

Still, expect to see activity from  atownsend since he's been using the computer a lot since I've been busy with building/work/metal gear solid 4.... I need my Hideo Kojima fix thank you.

My hyena  atownsend decided to make an account here. I saw what he posted and it certainly kicks the hell out of anything I've ever done. He's still setting his page up and the like, so I hope everyone will make him feel welcome!

The order has been placed, and Wednesday is the day it's scheduled to arrive... You will know- because myself and the boyfriend will team up to create some seriously cool artz.

First on the agenda is a gift for a dear old friend Jovee (http://www.furaffinity.net/user/joveehusky/). A few years ago when I met Jovee, we agreed to do an art trade, in which he produced this (http://www.furaffinity.net/view/78762/) stunning visual of my old character. The bad thing is that the submission I had done in return was deemed unfit by my low self esteem and never posted, and then came my hiatus from the furry art world, and thus, it was forgotten.

But I was picking through an old CD filled with art and found this gem, and quickly dug through FA to find it again. Jovee was and still is a pretty busy guy, and he took the time to give me some really great advice and a whole lot of confidence to keep drawing and fine-tune my skills. Plus he drew this for me and never received anything in return, and now I feel terrible about it. So, when the Cintiq comes in on Wednesday, I'm going to make his character my first project, and my boy has agreed to do a background for it. So if you're reading this Jovee, I'm really sorry I forgot, but I'll do my best to make up for it. You're awesome man!

Wish us luck with this Cintiq thing! Our wallets are going to be hurting for a while....

So...I'm procrastinating....

a lot..

The bf and I decided we need to upgrade our graphics tablet. All the art that's been submitted has been done on a 3x4 wacom tablet, which is a good tablet....however- it's been done a widescreen monitor with a really high resolution. You can see why that would become a problem, but nevertheless, that's how I've done my art since I got the tablet and I've just grown used to the discomforts of the mis-dimensions. But lately, with my sudden interest and desire to draw a lot more again, I decided to upgrade, and the bf suggested that we split the cost of a really nice model- really splurge a little.

So, this Friday (hopefully) when the paychecks come in, we're each footing $500 a piece for a Cintiq 12WX tablet (http://www.coolgraphicstuff.com/wac.....TOKEN=92659065). We're going to dust off the hyena's Mac and use it solely for art, of which the Cintiq will be the primary monitor. Of course, I'm really f*cking excited. You dont have any idea. Downside is that I dont want to do any projects until I get it! So sorry about the lapse lately! Wish us luck with this thing! Cant wait to get some new projects done for everybody!

Sorry I haven't gotten to respond to all the awesome comments and favs and the like. Finals are just finishing up and I've been having some relationship problems lately. I'm trying to get this stuff worked out.

So I'm just kinda taking a breather again, nothing months or anything, but I just want to kick back for a week and enjoy my newfound college-less freedom, as well as get this relationship shit cleaned up.

Ok, I'm ready now. The semester is winding down and I've got the art blood boiling in me again. To get back in the swing, I want to do some art trades! Mostly because I cant decide what to draw, and art trades are a cool way to get a theme going and let loose something new. Plus it's always fun to see what someone else will do with the same idea that you've already got in your head, it's a good time.

So yeah- anyone who wants to do an art trade let me know. I really need the practical exercise. I know my art isn't much at all, but it's for a good cause! Me sucking less! :D

Wow it's been a long time. It's fun to kinda look back and how I acted and drew when I last gave a damn about drawing and logging on.

Well, anyway, with summer coming up and finals drawing to a close, I'll have a lot more time to marinate in creative juices and finally get some ideas down on tablet/paper. I've sort of updated the page (avatar is still crap- ewwwww), and am trying to get some new art to post up here to eclipse some of my old garbage. As always, PM me for an OC session- always looking for new things to draw.
