I just finished up selling at DenFur a couple of weeks ago. It was a pretty alright con! I wish I had been able to go to some of the panels, but all the ones I was interested in were during dealer hours and I felt bad leaving my spouse to take over for me, haha. But overall it was good. I'm glad their first year was successful despite all the stuff surrounding it.
My next furry convention will be MFF this November! This year has definitely been full of firsts. I am really excited for it from all that I have heard. It sounds fun! Other than that I'll be selling at a few local events here and there until then. I will also be at Further Confusion and Furry Weekend Atlanta next year! So just- all over the place haha.
Also, I am going to start reuploading all of my art to my Canis Ovis account just for simplicity. I made this account so long ago and the username is an OC's name. I want everything that I post to consistent so that people can find me easier. So, if you're interested in continuing to follow me, you can click here:

Post-BLFC and Other Cons
Posted 7 years agoSo, I just want to say, BLFC was absolutely fucking amazing! I loved it and had so much fun! I’m so grateful for everyone who stopped by and said hi or bought things. I have applied to multiple more furry conventions. So far I have gotten into Fursonacon, Anthro Weekend Utah, and Denfur. It was super inspiring and ahhh. I’m stoked to do more furry cons. I am working on getting my commission shit altogether too (pricing, examples, wtc.) so hopefully that will also help. Wah. Thank you guys!

I am so damn awful at staying on top of this account and I am so so sorry. I am actually going to be moving this account over to my CanisOvis username at some point, I just need to dedicate a day to get everything moved over and uploaded! So here's some updates I suppose:
I am going to be selling at a couple of furry conventions this year! My first one will be BLFC in May, which will also be my first large furry convention. I am terrified as well as excited! AWU last year went pretty well! It is just unfortunate that it is at the same time as CLC here in Utah that yields more profit for me, cause it's such a perfect mix of odd art that allows my stuff to be viewed without too much scrutiny! BUT- that isn't to say that I have a guaranteed spot, so I might be doing AWU again.
I am also going to be going to DenFur for its first year, which I have already heard mixed things about haha. I am also gonna try for Midwest Fur Fest if I can! And maybe looking to see if there are any good cons I can get into for July, but it's most likely too late for that.
Other than that, I am trying for a lot of local art festivals and I will be at Denver Comic Con in June, which will also be a first! There's a lot of spoopy, risky business going on. Wah.
I have an art studio now with
Portzebie and 
Luna-Starbright and that has tremendously increased production! It's great!
A lot of my projects have been a lot of Works In Progress so far, so that has a bit to do with the amount I am not posting here but I hope to turn that around in the next upcoming months! I will also be trying to make a commissions post soon, but I am currently open for traditional Headshot Badges that can be found on my Etsy.
Anyway, thanks y'all for your patience and for your support! It means a lot to me. Hope to see some of y'all this year!~

Long time no post... again OTL. Well, it's been a pretty hard and busy few months since my last journal. This year I have taken on a LOT of art shows/conventions and so I have been focusing most of my mental efforts there as well as on my vet tech assistant job. I am used to only doing one or two shows at most, but this year I am doing six.
WE WILL SEE HOW THIS TURNS OUT.
My second show is this weekend, starting tomorrow and it is a huge local art event. I really hope that I do well! It's also a good opportunity to get more connected with the local art scene which is something I have been admiring from afar.
ALSO I WILL BE SELLING AT MY FIRST FURRY CONVENTION, Anthro Weekend Utah (AWU)! It will also be-- the first furry convention I will have ever attended OTL. I am not quite sure what kind of stuff to create for that, as I have no idea what a dealer's den looks like/consists of to use as a reference point. BUT I am sure I will figure something out! Posted 8 years agoI am so bad at updating things. Shit. Ahsdof. I have got to start making a habit of this nonsense.
A lot of stuff has happened. We had to move into my Mom's basement (where I am currently typing), I got a new job that I love a lot, and we are working on getting a house. I am now a veterinary technician assistant and I am moving up the ladder pretty quickly so that is really awesome. I love going to work and learning new things.
As far as art goes, I am trying to work on a more dedicated way to make it consistent. I may just have to pretend that it is a second job with set hours that I need to spend doing. It seems to be how I best get things rolling. I am sorry that I keep appearing and reappearing. Like. Shit, last year and this year have been so fucking nuts. Things should be slowing down now.
Currently I am working on making more stuff to sell and going to more shows/cons to spread my art out more I suppose. Anyway, thank you guys so much again. I feel so bad. I am going to keep trying to do my best.

Long story short; I was about to kill myself for realsies. So, I went to the doctor and got better meds and had to take a while to adjust to shit. I am just now starting to get my drive and energy back. I haven't really drawn at all for a good amount of time but starting today I am hunkering down and getting caught up on everything.
Haha, I feel so damn unprofessional and I apologize for that. Rest assured, things are going to be consistent now. And I won't whine about this shit anymore either. Thank you all for your patience.

COMIC CON TABLE AND FUTURE PROJECTS
Posted 9 years agoHey y'all. SORRY that I have done this weird disappear/reappear thing as of late! I don't mean to. I have been hard at work producing things to sell at the upcoming Salt Lake Comic Con on September 1st - 3rd at table TEAL 33 with my friend Dead Bomb Art!! Good news is I am almost done! Then I can get back to commissions and personal projects I am so sorry ahhg.
My next big, long term project will be a werewolf themed tarot deck! I have most of the major arcana already sketched out! So be looking forward to a buncha wolves and werewolves and shit. MY TRUE AND ONLY PASSION IN LIFE. I will be using gouache and watercolor and ink or what the hell ever to render them so, that will be a thing! Then when it is all finished, if there's enough interest I might try to use Kickstarter to fund making more decks!
In the meanwhile, I will be working on writing scripts for various comic ideas such as Unicorn and Dragon (self-explanatory), Itchy Teeth (lesbian werewolf story), Everything Is Going To Be Okay (cat boy with depression/self-hatred issues), and so on. Eventually it will turn into layouts, then drawing then all that and hopefully then there will be something to show! Wow.
Anyway, thank you guys so much for all of your support and encouragement!

Makin' Prints and Selling at Cons is such a Bitch Why
Posted 9 years agoAugusdf. I have little less than a month to get shit together for Salt Lake Comic Con and I have no idea what to make prints of. I mean, I have prints of my sheep series ready to go, and a tardigrade print (I think two??) and that is pretty much ittt.
I have been told to do stuff that is popular of course, but all I can get ideas for are Pokémon (which will be done TO DEATH) and--- well that is it. Man I suck at fanart so bad. I'm trying to think about the best way to not lose a heck ton of money. Would it be best to avoid makin' Pokémon prints altogether, make a small run, or what??? I would love to stick to my original shit but original art rarely ever sells at a con, much less if you don't have a fan base and stuff.

Posted 9 years agoHey y'all. Sorry I haven't been active for like a week. Short of going into a giant self-loathing tyrade, I have not been feeling well. I went on a family vacation this weekend for two days and in some aspects I felt better and in others it made me feel terrible haha. On top of that, our cat Emma was having serious medical complications and she could have died. She is alive and well now, but we are left with the spooky bill. Heck. I am just sorry for not posting much. I hope to be getting stuff done tonight and tomorrow as well as opening up for traditional pet portrait commissions to see if I can get decent income in. If not, I'll just have to get a second job. Part-time though. Two full-time jobs on top of art would be pretty dang intense lol.

SL Comic Con Table?? YISS.
Posted 9 years agoAh, this weekend has been fucking nuts. Our old rat Wilford, who was 2 months shy of reaching 3 years old, had to be put down on Friday, then I went to our local draw meet, went home and worked on stuff, went out drawing again, crashed, woke up, had to treat the remaining rats for mites which required sanitation of a huge chunk of the living room and their cage. And then just a bunch of other shit on top of that. It was good too though, since I was able to get some Pokémon GO in there a bit. Weep.
Anyhow yes, I am going to be sharing a table with my schoolmate and friend, Dead Bomb Art, and selling prints, stickers, and maybe really quick/chibi commissions?? Not sure yet. That is in September though so I better get on that shit quick. Posted 9 years agoHey y'all! I broke 100+ watchers this week, so I wanna show my appreciation by doing a raffle! Giveaway?? I am not actually sure what the proper term for it is but I digress.
BASICALLY, I will be raffling off a highly detailed headshot/bust in the vein of my recent works because I feel like drawing a million small lines all the time forever. It will be traditional with ink and ink washing! I can draw your fursona, your pet, a demon, a creature, you can even be like "hey Arthur, mash together a horse/skull/ram/cat or some bullshit" and I will come up with something.
Anyway, all ya gotta do if you are interested is comment on this journal-- and I will pick a lucky winner using probably a random number machine.
But really y'all thanks so much for being into my art and whatnot. It means a lot to me, truly!

So, I work at a place where I literally sit here for 8 hours with nothing to do but draw which is cool! Unfortunately I can't work on digital things here. SO, since I keep running outta things to do (other than sketching and sketching and sketching), I have decided I may as well put the time to use and open up 2 traditional commission slots. Right now I am doing Busts (waist up)/Headshots/Laminated Badges.
NOTE: Those who I am still working on digital art for, do not worry. These will be worked on only at work while digital commissions will be worked on only at home. They will not interfere with each other at all.
PRICE:
Ink only- $25
Colored/Rendered- $35
Includes simple one color background or +$5 for a more detailed background. Size will be approximately 3.5"x5". If wanting it to be laminated (+$1) and shipped, buyer pays shipping fee. headshot/bust/whatever will be the original art, unless requested otherwise. I can do more toony like my profile ID or more realistic, or super-realistic.

Rude Shit
Posted 9 years agoWe went to a local furry meetup/party today which has been my first time going to something like that for years. It was-- interesting?? People-- were kinda really rude and stuff. I actually had someone come up while I was drawing say "DRAW ME" and shoving their badge in my face?? I kinda just looked away and didn't respond because I got really scared about how to react, haha;;. I haven't had that happen in a long time either.
We got to hold a skunk though! They are adorable. There was also a baby coyote and a fox. I would have gone up to pet them-- but the crowd was ridiculous and mean about it. I felt bad for the animals;; My spouse went up to go pet the animals and I guess they and my other friend were waiting patiently to hold them and other people kept legitimately muscling their way past them or just snatching the animals from each other??
Just- rude. I cannot believe. It just sucks cause we want more furry friends, but after this event I don't really know if I want to try locally again. Maybe we just had a fluke experience? Everyone else seemed to have a pretty good time. Ah. Social gatherings always make me get nervous and doubt myself.

We finally got our amended tax return and with it I was able to buy an external 3TB hard-drive, a laminator and laminator pouches! I am excited because now I can laminate WHATEVER I WANT! Without having to go out in public!! My process of becoming a hermit artist is almost complete!
Just kidding.
I gotta do lots of stuff. I got invited by my local gallery to participate in the "Dreams and Surrealism" gallery show in July so I gotta make 5 to 6 pieces for that. I am also gonna be tutoring someone in how to draw for $30 an hour which is pretty exciting because I haven't made that much per hour my whole life!
I dunno. Just a lot of crazy exciting things going on. I am still working on commissions and sticker designs and all that so stay tuned! Thanks for all your support!
Also, I finally finished writing up my ToS and commission price list. Man what a pain. Pricing myself and writing something so technical was weird.

About My Art/Ask Me Stuff
Posted 9 years agoI have had a few people ask me what my inspiration is behind my art and why I do what I do so I figured I would sit down and kinda try to explain it. Haha. Augh.
My main inspirations in my personal work are nature, humanity, sexuality, gender identity, and anatomy.
I have a huge spiritual thing with nature, animals, the mayjicks, and so forth so I like to present that in most everything I do. Humanity is a frustrating mess, and so fun to draw. Sexuality and gender identity are things close to me that have shaped a lot of things in my world, plus I feel the topics in general need to be more exposed because it is human nature. And anatomy is just fun because bodies are fucking weird and also disgusting, but at the same time pretty. Just weird SHIT.
I like to portray these things together in a sort of mishmash or chimerical/amalgamation approaches. I feel that all these things tie together very closely and I like to portray that in most of my personal stuff.
I love to, and work almost solely in, traditional mediums. I am a more tactile person and feel more connected to what I am working on, personally, when I can touch the paper and interact physically with the materials rather than dealing with the disconnect I get from doing things digitally.
My favorite is pen and ink, my second favorite is graphite, and my third favorite are copic markers. I am not too great at color theory or seeing colors in general, so I prefer working with things that can create detail and contrast in black and white. If that makes sense. Lol.
As far as werewolf stuff goes, I just connect with the concept and idea of werewolves. The duality of it, the powerlessness of it, and so forth. I have always liked them since before I realty understood quite what they were but, werewolves have also heavily influenced my life and my art.
