I just transferred schools and I'm finally into Major-specific classes, so it's nothing but art projects all day long. I have a Drawing class too, but those pictures are significantly more boring.
But I'm starting to get the hang of things, so hopefully I'll be back soon-ish.

A one-year-old has rechristened me with the name "Dobbie," so I guess it's official.
It's fiiinnnaaalllyyy cold-ish here. There was even a frost this morning. It's great because last week felt like July. I don't know if it's going to stay this way or not, but I plan to enjoy it while it lasts.
Lately I've been updating a little more than usual, but that's because I've had free time and been in an art mood. Now I don't have free time, so I'm going back to my typical infrequent updates >>;; So if I don't post art for like three weeks I'm most likely not dead or anything.

How often do you get writer’s block?
Depends. I seem to alternate between drawing a lot and writing a lot on a regular basis, but I still have ideas for both even when I'm doing the other.
How do you fix it?
Ignore it until it goes away, listen to music, draw/do a meme/write something short and simple with the characters.
Do you type or write by hand?
I like to write everything out and then type it up. Occasionally I will just start typing though, it depends on what it is, really.
Do you save everything you write?
Nah.
Do you ever go back to an old idea long after you abandoned it?
I can start writing something, stare at it blankly for a few weeks, go write five other things, and then come back and finish the first thing a year later. So yes.
Do you have a constructive critic?
Not here. I do have one but she is not online often so her constructive criticism is decidedly limited.
Did you ever write a novel?
I've been focusing on short stories lately. I wrote ninety-something pages of a novel back in middle school but that's as close as I've ever come.
What genre would you love to write but haven’t?
Sci Fi.
What’s one genre you have never written, and probably never will?
Romance.
How many writing projects are you working on right now?
I'm not even sure anymore. I have at least four short stories that are at different degrees of completion. Not to mention some poetry that will probably never be finished (I am not a poet).

No. Sometimes I do.

Mhmm.
Have you ever won an award for your writing?
A terrible short story I wrote won an award once.

Scanner blues & minor update
Posted 16 years agoI hate the things that my scanner does to my artwork. Granted, I know virtually nothing about scanner configuration. Is it my fault then? The main problem is that lines of ink are way too defined (there are others, but these I can live with). Anybody know how to fix this or at least some general configuration tips?
I'm also thinking about making a separate account for my writing. Good idea/bad idea? I don't do a lot of "furry" writing though so that's a potential issue here.
Aside from that school and work are keeping me busier than I need to be. That is all.

01. What is your pen name?
Aspen.
02. What made you choose this name?
That's kind of a long story, actually. I had two versions of an older character of mine, one for a story and one that I used for my avatar (that's what we called them back then). A friend wanted to write a story based on actual people and wanted to use that character as me. So to distance it a bit from the original the name was changed (to Aspen) and his was appearance altered slightly. Then she never actually wrote the story but I decided I was a lot more like Aspen than the other character, so I adopted the changes.
03. Do you use PC or Mac?
Mac, but I don't have that much of a preference really. I only have it cause my tech-loving grandfather got a new one >>;
04. What programs do you use most often?
For...art? Photoshop. But I want to try Painter. Other than that, iTunes I guess?
05. Do you use mouse, or tablet?
Tablet for actual coloring, etc. But I alternate depending on what I'm doing.
06. What color or color combinations do you find yourself using most often?
Gray and blue >>;
07. What part of a picture do you put most effort into?
The clothes, sadly |3
08. How long does it take you do draw a picture?
I sketch pretty quick, 15-20 minutes, if that. Coloring takes a few hours.

11. When you scan your image, what DPI do you use?
That is a magnificent question.
12. Do you do anything else when you're drawing?
I have a hard time drawing if I don't at least have a song stuck in my head. Sometimes I watch TV, but usually just when I'm coloring.

Do doodles on my notes count? Cause those usually have more drawings than words ._.;
I cycle between writing a lot and drawing a lot, so I can't really answer this question.
14. What kind of paper do you draw your pictures on?
Cardstock occasionally, otherwise I like the Academie sketchbooks.
15. What kind of paper do you use for rough sketches and drafts?
If I do any of those then it could be anything from sketchbook pages to scrap paper to notebooks...
16. How long does it take you to ink something?
A little bit longer than it does to draw, since I tend to add more details at that point. I'm pretty fast at inking too, so.

I try to.

I enjoy reading and writing them, drawing takes a lot more effort/motivation >>;
