The journal youve been waiting for
Posted 13 years agoSorry about the delay, Im trying to get my shit together in the real world, so these result are long overdue. But I shall not make you wait any futher. As per usual Ill state the winner and why I thought they won, starting from third place:
3rd Place winner goes for this entry http://www.furaffinity.net/full/9314303/ by Tomoyuki. This piece is concise and gets the message across clearly. While I do have to wonder if someone was engaged in a conflict with murderous intent, would simply being talked to firmly send them on their way but I guess it needn't be looked like that. While the instant effects of bullying can be bad enough, the psychological effects can be even worse, and simply having someone step in to aid you, could be the difference that it makes when you decide how to cope with your bullying problem. For your efforts, you get a commission from an artist of your choice, up to $30 in value.
2nd Place winner goes for this entry https://www.furaffinity.net/full/9316749/ by Kiokoe. This one certainly took the cake for creativity. This one seems to represent rebirth in a new life free from the pains and misery of the current life (Well potentially there's a whole new set to be experienced down the track, but that's irrelevant for now). The colours and shading is certainly enchanting, and the fact that it is an abstract idea could possibly have put it in the number one spot, however this image seems to focus on saving a soul rather than saving a life. You get an item of your choice from the Deviantart store, up to $75 in value.
Sometimes literal and direct is good. Like the 3rd place winner, the piece that wins first place in the competition, took a very direct route and its meaning is clear. But that's not all about this piece. The shading certainly manages to give the image a foreboding atmosphere thanks to the setting and the dark palette used (Just a heads up, On some monitors its almost impossible to see anything but the direwolfs eyes), but if your monitor is awesome enough to be able to view the artwork, you are in for a treat. The detail on the kid and the direwolf is also to be commended. So without further delay, I announce the 1st place winner, of my 3rd competition, it is Moose15 with the pic http://moose15.deviantart.com/#/d5hy941. Send me your Paypal details at your convenience.
Of course everyone put in the effort to enter, so ill extend the effort a little bit further. Thank you to princepudding (Or maybe sunnydeathray if their account is still hacked) who also entered with the piece http://princepudding.deviantart.com.....-guy-339687058. I might do a feature journal later on with some of your works, for putting in the effort to enter.
While not playing a factor in the deciding role, you can also extend thanks to moose15 for allowing the competition to be extended, allowing more people to participate and making the comp worth while. Lastly thanks to all who entered. Keep an eye out for competitions in the future (Hopefully ill be a little more organised for those ones).
Thanks

Contest extended
Posted 13 years agoIgnore previous Journal.
Ive spoken with the only entrant so far, and we have agreed it would be a good idea to extend the contest. So i'm adding another month, from today, the contest will now close on 25th November (11:59PM US Pacific time). Remember you could win up to $150, so it's definately worth entering. inspiration as follows:
"Save a friends life
Although inspired by R U OK Day, the situation does not have to be saving a friend from suicide. It can be any creative situation you can come up with, where your character (or you if you so choose to include yourself) saves the life of a friend. An example could be saving a friend from violent muggers (I'm sure you can come up with something awesome). The rest is up to you. Judgement criteria will be similar to last time, the more creative the situation the better. Entry to the competition requires nothing other than submitting a work. You can use any media you see fit, as long as its visual (Art, comic or video sorry no written works for this one)."
More details can be found at:

What is this?
Posted 13 years agoI decided to visit this site tonight for the same reason everyone else does, to view the FA shall be returning shortly banner, only to find that the site is plagued by annoying uptime. No doubt they are working around the clock to fix this uptime situation and down time shall return shortly.

And the final placings are
Posted 13 years agoWelcome to the final judgement for the competition, There was a lot of effort put into every entry, which was great and I appreciate that.. Appreciate it enough to remind you, even the winner of the first prize probably put in enough time to mean they worked for less than minimum wage. Still enough of that, lets find out who is $123 Richer, who gets to commission an artist of their choice and who gets the subscription.
The $123 First prize: Looking at the works of art, I was looking for creativity, effort and adherence to the rules. Some people submitted comics, some submitted single picture, however one thing to look at is how much someone said in their piece of art. There can be a certain attraction to being able to say as much in a single page as one might take to say in a several page comic.. That being said, if every panel in the comic has a reason, a meaning, and can remain engaging, then it does everything it needs to, It probably isn't any suprise to anyone that I announce the winner of the $123 to be Dragonfirebender http://dragonfirebender.deviantart.com/ for this work. http://dragonfirebender.deviantart......age1-282051830. Not only does it demonstrate effort of drawing and illustrating 12 pages of comic, but every panel had a meaning, added to the story, was well drawn and provided a detailed and engaging story. Congratulations Dragon fire bender!!!
The commission from artist of choice (Up to $50 in value): This one took me many hours of labouring over weighing up the pros, seeing as all the entries had a unique element about them that made them great contenders. You know what I still can't decide. On one had we have an image with superb colouring and visual effects, on the other, a comic with a very creative way of solving the issue. Cause of the effort displayed by all contenders, 2 pepole will have the opportunity to commisison an artist of their choice, up to $50. Congratulations Superdoglac http://kichaalion.deviantart.com/ar.....cape-279290987 and http://chakisuu.deviantart.com/art/.....ntry-282128686
Not to worry, there is still a 3rd prize Ill keep it a subscription to DA, However because Ive increased costs on the second prize, with there being 2 winners, Ill make it a 3 month subscription to DA (Or Equivalent DA points). This submission was as the rest exceptional, really well drawn and coloured, unfortunately maybe lacked some of the imagination and creativity of some of the rest (Just to be open about improvements that could have been made). However I have no doubt the illustrator of the winner of the final prize will be a serious contender in future competitions, given the quality of work in this one. Congrats Chisea!! http://www.furaffinity.net/view/7323247/

Competition update
Posted 14 years agoUpdate to my competition, first posted here: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/2940702/
The closing date will be midnight 2nd February (USA West coast time). There will not be any delays or changes to this date, even if there are few entries by then, to be fair to the people who get in their works early.
Works can be in the form of any visual media, image, comic, video.. etc
Also pay special attention to the info I've provided in the journal. I've left a lot of the picture up to your imagination, however the details I have included, should be present (E.G Ive stated a starry night, so If you submit a day scene, it might not look good).
