laptop keyboard ruined, no more writing for now
Posted 12 years agoa couple of drops of condensation from a glass of water fell on my laptop keyboard and ruined it. The keys don't work anymore. I'm really upset. If it doesn't return to working condition I will have to buy a new one online. In the meantime I more or less will be without my laptop for a while. My phone is my only source of internet right now.
EDIT: I do have the keyboard dismantled and drying in rice but this has happened before and last time drying didn't work so I am not hopeful this time either.

I have an important announcement to make
Posted 12 years agoSince several people have expressed interests in commissioning more of The Persistent Dragon, I have decided to move towards a donation system and am making my paypal email public, so that multiple people can contribute for the same story (and so no one gets stuck paying for the whole thing by themselves!) You can donate however much or little you want!
My PayPal email is: ausfer.lol.wut@gmail.com
____________________________________________________________________________________________________
Please select USD as the currency. Select that you are purchasing "goods".
Do not mention the anything related to the furry fandom, dragons, or donations, and definitely do NOT mention anything porn-related in the notes/message. Doing so could get me and possibly you in trouble with PayPal. Instead, write nothing. Or put down something about bacon, if you wish. Everybody loves bacon.
If you wish to donate but don't want to use PayPal, send me a PM.

And now for something less depressing.
Posted 12 years agoSo, my last journal had the unintended side effect of everyone telling stories of pets they had lost and so my journal turned into one big carnival of sadness. Instead of making me feel better, it just got me more upset.
Well, screw that, I'm gonna talk about the other two dogs in my parent's house for some comic relief.
My parents own two other dogs. I will be blunt, here: these are not likable dogs. The one in white fur is needy to a fault and has the excitability of a 6-year-old on caffeine, and the one in black fur is so terribly timid and scared of everything that your sympathy will be cast way beyond pitable and land somewhere around contemptible and loathsome.
The white one, Molly, jumps on everything and everyone, constantly pines and begs for attention, and always, always has to be in the way of everything. She will come off as endearing for the first five minutes you meet her after which her constant neediness for petting and attention will have you wishing for an escape route.
Someone walking around the house? She will get up and follow. Walk into the living room? Bam! She's there. Vacuuming the carpet? She somehow braves her fear of vaccums to be as close to you as possible. Want to play the piano? As soon as you sit down she's at your feet making it impossible to hit the pedals. She mirrors your every move. She is your shadow. A really clumsy shadow that gets in the way. Molly is like some really obsessed stalker that slobbers and smells funny. Which, actually probably isn't too different from a regular stalker now that I think about it.
Molly has the mental capacity of a small tree fungus. Garden gnomes and plastic flamingos regularly out-score her in IQ exams. She recently had a battle of wits against a small soap dish, and lost. This is not an intelligent dog, okay? Training her to just sit or lie down took months, and even at 8 years old this is something she has never mastered (And Jazzy was very well trained, thank you very much!). Every command sounds like "Jump on me!" to her.
At my parent's house we put the dogs on rope lines when outside so they can stay out without us supervising them. Molly will always, always get her rope tangled up. Tangled around the patio furniture. Tangled around the porch roof posts. Tangled around other dog lines and other dogs. Tangled around herself. Attempts to teach her how to untangle herself have failed. (Jazzy could do it, though). Every attempt results in her just getting really excited and choking herself on the line.
Speaking of choking, she will attempt to chase squirrels. Which doesn't happen cause, yaknow… she's tied up. But that doesn't stop her from bolting and then choking herself. She'll strain and pull against the rope and the collar will choke her to the point where she'll collapse from a lack of oxygen. You might think to be concerned about her, but no worries, it's not like she has very many brain cells to kill in the first place! You can't damage what's not there.
Oh, and she has a history of walking into glass doors and screen doors. That's always entertaining.
At the very least, however, she can be good for the occasional cheap thrill from watching her get excited to the point of hysteria over practically anything you bring to her attention. All you need to do is just talk to her in an excited voice and she'll work herself up so much that she'll start shaking and shivering and drooling.
"HEY MOLLY, LOOK, ITS MY INCOME TAX FORM! ITS SO EXCITING! OH MY GOSH!"
That's all it will take to have Molly running around the house and spinning around and jumping in excitement over your income tax form. So that's is one redeeming quality about her, I suppose, which is more than what the black one can claim.
This is where things get interesting.
The black one, Duffy, has to be kept in the kitchen at nights because he has a tendency to get scared of random noises and pee on himself and the carpet. He's been doing this since we got him and now he's 6 years old and he still pees on himself. It's not like he has a bladder problem, he just gets scared. And when he gets scared, he pees.
And let me tell you, he is scared. Of. Everything.
He is scared of thunderstorms. Of other dogs. Of the outdoors. Of the darkness. Of sudden noises. Of the wind. Of the basement. Of getting wet. Of the air conditioning. Of having food thrown at him. Of being approached. Of being touched. Of being told to come. Of the chairs. Of my room. Of the basement. Of being told "No". Of the kitchen floor. Half the time he will actually refuse to come if it means walking through the kitchen. He attempts to reach the kitchen water dish from the "safety" of the family room carpet, leaning as far as he can while still being on the carpet to nab a drink. When he does have to walk on the kitchen floor, he psyches himself out and tries to over-compensate, which only makes him skid and slide around every time he attempts to make a turn. Which is hilarious to watch.
Every time there's a thunderstorm at night he barks ALL NIGHT. Which keeps everybody in the house up. So every time, someone has go down stairs to calm him down at 3 in the morning. And what do we find? A shivering, hyperactive dog in the kitchen (where we keep him at night, remember?). Droplets of drool everywhere in front of the kitchen doggy gate where he was pacing. And of course, a puddle of pee on the floor. Usually under the table.
This peeing thing is so bad that my mother went and bought some doggie diapers. How embarrassing is that, huh?
I've cleaned up so many dog pee stains that I could have an honorary degree in waste management.
In our family, we actually use his name as a synonym for a spectacular failure. "Oh man, I just pulled a Duffy back there!" "Careful, you don't want to be a Duffy!" "I watched Lebron James become a huge Duffy in the last NBA finals!"
It goes downhill from here.
The worst part is that any attempt to use negative reinforcement on the dog will usually result in him peeing on the carpet in abject fear, so our family finds it completely impossible to reprimand him in any way for bad behavior, which leads to… you guessed it: more bad behavior. This includes refusing to come when called, chewing on things that should not be chewed on, refusing to listen, running out an open door and getting loose (never on my watch, but my mother is a different story), and who could forget… snacking his own poop in the back yard. And we have been unable to successfully curtail any of these behaviors despite trying over the last 6 years.
This is how I became a cat person.

WTF is this?
Posted 12 years agoSomebody just commissioned me to write a Starcraft 2 rule 34 story involving Kerrigan and her "pet" zergling. I love Starcraft, but not like this! Lol. I didn't wanna take it but I reaaaally need the money. >_<
Unfortunately, this means that I have to put my other writing projects, like The Persistent Dragon, on the shelf again, while I work on what I'm paid to write. I can never seem to get to work on this thing... When this is done, I need to find a commissioner for TPD otherwise I'll never find time to get it written.

Posted 12 years agoIt's been a little over 2 years since I've started writing pervy little stories for the fandom, and in looking back at it all, I am just amazed and incredibly grateful for all the support and encouragement I've received from people in the community.
Long before I took the plunge and wrote my first story, I knew very well that the furry fiction community doesn't get much attention. I don't really blame anyone for it: the fandom was founded on art, and as humans we're awfully visual creatures anyway… heck, what is it: something like 30% of the brain is dedicated to vision? Something like that. Meanwhile, reading is boring, time-consuming, and lacks visual appeal. It requires steady attention and a good imagination to fully appreciate, and not everybody wants to put up with that.
With all that being said, I never once had many expectations for my writing. I honestly still don't have many expectations: if someone takes time to earnestly read just one of my stories I am pleasantly surprised.
This is why it is even more of a shock to me to see exactly how much support and encouragement and generosity I have received from people in the community: the artists who draw fan art of my characters, the readers who support my original work by commissioning additional chapters, the people who offer to proofread and critique my stories for me, the fans who share and post my work, the friends I've met who inspire me to write more… and lots others.
As far as other writers go I've had far more success than most at getting my work out there. Far more than I could have ever expected. And in face of all this, the very least I can do is to go out and express my thanks to everyone involved.
In particular, I really have to thank
evalion and
syrinoth for their incredible generosity in all the fan art they've drawn and the support they've given me. I am blown away by the amount of times they've brought my characters to life on pad and paper, especially considering that they do so without expecting anything in return, and while still managing to keep up on their commission queue as well. All the art they have drawn have attracted many new readers who were curious as to the story behind the characters depicted. And in addition to the art, Syrinoth in particular has given me many opportunities and opened doors that would have otherwise not been possible for me, which I am very grateful for.
I also have to thank
narse for his support and his pen. Not only has he commissioned several stories from me, he also has drawn fan art of my stories a number of times. Most of them were never finished, but the one painting he did complete and upload brought my writing an incredible amount of exposure that I otherwise would have never recieved. Even a fraction of Narse's watchers is still a huge amount of people… and they are people that probably would have never visited my profile otherwise. I cannot remember how many pages of new watchers I had to clear over the next few days after Narse uploaded his painting! Being the first one to draw Nixi, Narse also had a hand in designing her appearance, and I don't think I could have asked for a better artist for such a job. Thanks so much, Narse.
I am also thankful for the staff at SoFurry for featuring a number of my stories on their site and even granting me an official interview!
And of course, I also need to thank everyone else who has ever drawn fan art, or has ever paid for a commission, or has supported me and my writing in some other way. Just please… don't make me list everyone by name!
....
You know, the question I ask myself after looking at what my writing has accomplished so far… is what it can accomplish in the future. To be frank, I have no friggen clue. I'm still not sure if I am cut out for this writing stuff, or if I can find enough enjoyment in it to try turning it into something larger than a side hobby. I'm not even sure if I can find success in more mainstream (read: less adult-rated) venues. Hm, maybe this is a topic for another journal.… Regardless, I think its pretty cool that I am considering such options in the first place. The first story I wrote was my decision, but it's been all the encouragement and support from others that's kept me writing as many stories as I have.
As weird as it sounds, I never would have found a talent for writing if I didn't get encouraged to belt out pervy little porn stories and post them on the internet.
So to all those out there: thank you.

To whom it may concern:
Posted 12 years agoNo, I will not use your story idea for the next chapter of The Persistent Dragon where Jacob climbs into Penelope's dragon vagina, transforms into a dragon inside her womb, is encased in an egg and laid, hatches as a dragon, then vores his own father "for revenge".
I can't say I understand why you think this would be "the most logical step" for the plot of the story. I do not care how grateful you would be if I used your idea, and even if I was interested in writing it (which I am not), promising to put up a message on your profile publicly expressing your thanks would not count as a suitable payment.
I would appreciate it if you could stop sending me messages to reconsider.
Many thanks,
Ausfer

My birthday is coming up.... need ideas for presents!
Posted 12 years agoSo yeah first off, I haven't been around the past few months due to various reasons, so I'm sorry if you tried to contact me or you sent me a comment I never replied to. I have a whole backlog of comments I need to read, haha. I should be getting back into the swing of things and I'm trying to get another story out.
Now, my birthday is coming on March 31st, and I need some suggestions for what to get. I need a good pair of headphones, but they gotta be reasonable in price.... I know the whole tech gear market is horrendously overpriced for EVERYTHING, and that includes headphones ($500 headphones, WTF) and it can be hard to find a set where you are paying for quality and not the brand name or a bunch of meaningless hype. I'm not quite sure where to look or whom to trust for advice. So, any help here would be really appreciated.
Also, if you're like one of the 5 or so people who said they'd draw me art but never got around to it... well, now's a good time to get that done! ... Actually, you know what? While I'm at it, even if you didn't say you'd draw me something in the past, you can still draw me something for my birthday if you feel like it. XD

My official SoFurry interview is up! Go read it!
Posted 13 years agoSo, SoFurry contacted me a few months ago and requested I do an interview with them to talk about my stories, my interest in the fandom, and a little about me as well! I had to be on good behavior and couldn't say everything I wanted to, but hey... that's how it goes sometimes. :P
I've been waiting for a while but it's finally been posted! Go take a gander!
http://www.sofurry.com/groups/news?.....amp;newsId=373
I apologize in advance for how INCREDIBLY RIDICULOUSLY LONG IT IS OMG.

Forgot to post some old fan art stuff....
Posted 13 years agoI just realized that I have a backlog of fan art that I never posted.... Gonna be seeing some new art over the next few days. Okay well... actually, it's not really new at all because the artists have had it posted to their accounts (some of it from months ago). But you know what I mean.
Oh, and also, I may be writing.... um... >_> stuff.
I got this great idea for a kinky story that's a romance between a man and a dragon, and for all of the sex scenes, the dragon transforms into a human girl. And instead of having sex, she says she has a headache and isn't feeling good. Then she gets moody and tells him to sleep on the couch.
Every night.

Got a smart phone.... Can someone help me with this thing?
Posted 13 years agoIt's a Verizon Droid Razr Maxx by Motorola.
So my family all received smart phones for this christmas because we needed a new contract.... To be honest, I didn't want one, lol. I've never had a smart phone before, never seen a need for one, and now that I have one I don't really know what to DO with it.
sum1 halp me how 2 fone plzkthx
No seriously, what do I do with this thing? What's some cool things to do with it? Can anyone recommend some good aps? Some tweaks for the OS? Should I upgrade the OS? Should I root it? Ways to improve battery life/performance?
I'm not usually technologically illiterate. Hell, I'm sure I can figure out how to do this shit on my own if I took the time to.... its just that I've been out of the loop with smartphones since they first came out in like 10 years ago. At least I'm not as bad as my dad: we had to make sure his Razr model had a keyboard because he doesn't know how to use a touchscreen, LOL.
Any help would be appreciated.

Story coming soon...
Posted 13 years agoThis will just be really quick: So I've had a few folks asking me about my lack of stories lately. Well, I've been going through a really, really stressful part of my life that's been keeping me from writing. Seriously, its been bad. I've been extremely busy at times and finding motivation to write has been a very tough battle. I have lots of story ideas but I've been unable to get them down on paper.
However, just as the last few weeks of this semester is wrapping up, I've found some time to pen a few words here and there before I have to start studying for my finals and finish my term papers. I have a story that's almost done. I still gotta finish the ridiculously long adult scenes that I KNOW everybody is expecting (lol) but that's all that's left.
Hopefully you peeps will enjoy it. I'll try to get it done very soon.

Apoligies (also, anyone play starcraft 2?)
Posted 13 years agoI need to put up a new journal cause I'm tired of looking at the old one. So here's the deal:
It's taken a long time but I'm finally coming to realize that my last chapter of The Persistent Dragon sucked balls. Its so hard to get honest opinions around here so I really wasn't able to confirm this until I finally got some honest feedback from somebody a few weeks after. I apologize for the story... I really haven't been interested in writing lately, and it has showed. Hopefully my next story (which will be a new story with new plot) will be more entertaining. I got a ton of ideas for it already.
...
Also, I just want to rant on something real quick: How come about a third of the people who have added me on skype have never talked to me ONCE? Then about another third never initiate conversation, and when I finally talk to THEM, they're all like "How come we don't talk more?"
WTF? What kind of passive-aggressive shit is this to add someone as a friend, then always wait for them to contact you?
If I'm online, I'm available to talk. Usually I'm doing something else so I don't often go around looking for people to talk to, but I don't mind if people drop me a message. Hint: If I don't want to be bothered, I won't be on skype... simple as that. So if I'm online, say something, damnit, and don't be a freakin' social recluse.
Also, I just made an acount for AIM, cause there's someone I need to talk to that's having trouble with Skype. I can't promise how often I'll be on that, but if you're curious, my name is Not_Ausfer. And... oh well, for the sake of consistency, my skype name is Ausfer_lol_wut, if you didn't know that already.
Well, since I'm at it, I'll just be clear that I would really, REALLY (hint: really) like to meet people who are casual about the fandom, cause I already meet enough eccentric people as it is and I don't need more. Oh, and I don't roleplay. Do not roleplay with me. We're all humans, here, no need to pretend to be your 6-dicked dragon-wolf-fox-taur with 7 boobs and 2 self-lubricating anuses when you chat with me, kay? Cool. Awesome.
If you play Starcraft 2, chances are we'll hit it off pretty well. (ifuckinglovestarcraftsrslyido)
PS: To all the people who just fave the art in my gallery and never read any of the stories.... fuck you and I hope you trip and tear both patellar tendons.
Love, Ausfer.
PPS: If I sound grumpy its cause I'm stressed from writing term papers while feeling sick and miserable.

So, I got in a serious accident the other day...
Posted 13 years agoBoy, it's been months since I've posted anything. Lots of stuff has happened since then. But I'll try to keep things concise:
A couple of days ago, I got in a cycling accident and dislocated my left shoulder. I had to go to the ER and get it reset. This happened at about the worst possible time, because I was transitioning between health insurance plans and my new one had not kicked in yet. Now I have a huge medical bill that I can't really afford. And in order to help pay for this, I have started taking commissions.
So, the past few months, my interest in writing things for the fandom was at an all-time low, as was my interest in writing in general. I was honestly thinking about quitting. But now, I suddenly find myself back, writing more than ever just to help pay off this medical bill. Ironic.
I sincerely thank everyone who has offered to pay for a story already. You're all a huge, huge relief to me and I appreciate your willingness to help. I would like to accept more commissions, but I just can't right now: I have too much on my plate already. And I don't feel comfortable asking for donations, so don't worry about that. I'm not THAT desperate... I think.
If you are interested in a story from me, keep on the look out for future jounals when I free up some space on my to-do list.
For the rest, please hope and pray that I can get my shoulder healed up in good time. I need to get back on my bike and riding again. I have an event race coming up and I am not sure if I'll be in shape enough by time the race rolls around.
My to-do list is:
~A m/f human x feral jaguar story. Its not quite zoo, cause she talks and stuff. After publishing, I might have to "convert" this into a pokemon story so a wider audience can enjoy it. Luxray, anyone?
~A m/f human x dragon story. This is a chapter of The Persistent Dragon.
~A SECOND m/f human x dragon story! (big surprise!) This one actually is.... Dragon Ranch! I said I was done with the story, but someone wanted to see more chapters, so it's getting a sequel. Yup.

so i herd u liek pokemanz.... (new story coming soon)
Posted 13 years agoI got good news and bad news.
Bad news is.... No more Persistent Dragon for now. Sorry. No one has commissioned a chapter for it so far, so I don't have an excuse to write it anymore. :P
Good news is... I had a rather interesting dream a little while ago and I am turning that dream into a story. I'm pretty excited about it, and I'm able to work on it because I have no commissions going on right now.
Its about le pokemanz. Specifically, a Typhlosion. And its done in a very different style than anything else I've written so far. And it has a very interesting story, IMO. I like the plot of this one more than anything else I've written, to be honest. I just gotta get the fan service part (read: smut) written which is my least favorite part to write. I know if I don't add it in, no one would read it, lol.
If you were interested in commissioning me for a continuation of The Persistent Dragon (or another story), you're gonna have to wait until I am done with this. Sometimes, you just gotta do some personal writing done, you know?

My birthday is coming up. Any ideas on what to get?
Posted 13 years agoMy birthday is coming up on March 31st. As I don't have anyone to celebrate it with (aside from some far-away relatives who might send me a card), I need to give a present to myself.
...Problem is, I don't know what to get myself. XD
I have about a week to figure out something out... So, if you got any ideas, I'll listen. I like cool techy gifts and stuff that's biology and science related, if that helps. I also love music... can anyone reccomend a good pair of headphones?
I do a lot of bike riding and really need a new road bike (old one is breaking down). But the problem is those things are ridiculously expensive and I'd need something I can afford. Anyone out here a bike enthusiast that could offer their advice for buying on a budget?

You guys are corrupting me
Posted 13 years agoOkay, what the eff, furry fandom? You have been corrupting me in so many ways...
Thanks to the fandom, my mind has been saturated with fan art and porn of My Little Pony ever since that show started. Yes, I've seen the show since then, but I'm not a fan and I certainly don't actively go looking for pony porn or fan art. Its just that I see it anyway because it's simply EVERYWHERE. I can't take 2 steps in this fandom without having to wade through mountains of Fluttershy pin-ups and Pinky Pie dressed in lingerie or whatever.
Well, here's the sad part: All of this exposure to MLP porn has wormed its way into my mind and corrupted my brain. A couple days ago, I just went and had a very vivid dream involving Twilight Sparkle trying to seduce me, knocking me down, straddling me, and then undressing me with her magic little horn thingy. It was vivid enough to be real. Crazily enough, I could even feel what was happening. WTF? Seriously, WTF? I did not want this dream. Heck, even in my dream I didn't like what was happening and at one point I pushed her off of me and tried to escape. But then she "caught" me with some magic telekenesis spell or whatever and threw me back down on the bed. :(
I can't believe I had a dream about nearly being raped by a cartoon pony. Its something that I just have to shake my head and laugh at. I wrote down the dream and filed it away in my dream journal, where all my other vivid dreams are written down. Some of the things Twilight said to me were pretty effin' hot, actually, and I might have to use them in a future story.
Now, I know the fandom (specifically, the constant exposure to porn) has been causing my brain to sexualize things I don't normally find hot all the time. It's a slippery slope to a lot of different things, which is why people have such varied tastes and preferences here. But this whole "cartoon ponies invading my dreams and seducing me" buisness is just too much.
Get outta my head, Twilight Sparkle. There's a hundred thousand rabid, lonely pony fans that would much rather have this dream than me.

Looking back: I started writing a year ago today
Posted 13 years agoThis is probably gonna end up as a really long journal. Fair warning. So here's the important part first: Another chapter of Dragon Ranch is next. It's the "finale”. Gonna be a long chapter. After that, another chapter of The Persistent Dragon is on the to-do list.
Tl;DR is.... I realized I started writing a year ago today, and it's crazy to see what's happened in that year.
~When I started writing a year ago, I did so because I got continuously pissed off at nearly every story I found on SoFurry. Frankly, every time I'd go and find something I'd want to read, the horrible spelling, grammar, and general quality of writing made it impossible to enjoy. I've been through quite a number of stories that I just had to quit on half-way in. One fateful (dare I say, infamous) day, I got this revelation that I could probably do better than what was available, even though I had no practice writing fiction before. However, I put off the idea for a long time because I didn't want to be an active member of the fandom. There's a simple reason why: I don't identify with furries at ALL. I don't role play, don't have a murrrsona, I don't even think think furry art is super-cool or whatever. Dragons? Meh. To me, they're just a fantasy creature that I like seeing in porn (that's something I'm still a bit ashamed of, to be honest). I still think it's funny when people are surprised that I haven't read Eragon, or seen Dragonheart, or played Spyro, or stuff like that.
Well, weeks later and against my better judgment I bit the bullet and started writing.
~I began Dragon Ranch as a 1-shot story with only 2 characters. It was supposed to be nothing but a quick, simple sex story without any cringe-inducing plot. Even back then I realized that no one reads plot anyway. I sure as heck didn't. I thought plot was dumb and pointless because people read erotic stories with their dicks and not their brains. :P
~I ended up with a very short, simple story of a guy getting a BJ from a dragon (lol I can't type that with a straight face). I remember I went through a lot of thoughts like "Oh hell I am such a pervert. I can't believe what I'm writing!”.... but I published it anyway, expecting it to get a few views and what-not. I still remember my surprise when it got over 400 views in the first day, along with a slew of favs and comments. By then, I was already working on more of the story, realizing that this is pretty fun to do.
~Let's fast forward a year from then. Now, Dragon Ranch has around 10,000 views and is probably in the top 1% of popular stories on SoFurry. Crazy! Now, I don't spout off those numbers with pride, but with shock and surprise. Hell, I don't even think it deserves the attention. Looking back at it now, I don't think it's particulary well-written or special. I look at Dragon Ranch and keep thinking "how the heck did it get up there?”. I think part of what helped it was that I kept writing more. What meant to be a small, stand-alone story is now on 12 chapters and it still hasn't been finished. Also, The Persistent Dragon was meant to be three chapters and was supposed to contain a lot of plot, but it's now at 4 chapters and I haven't gotten around to ANY of that intended plot yet.
The reason why both stories keep getting bloated is simple: I keep on filling the majority of each chapter with really long porn scenes and there's no room for anything else. Lol.
~Like I said, I started writing a year ago. I'm surprised to admit that in that year, I gained around 650 watchers on SoFurry and over 1000 on FurAffinity. Now, those numbers are decieving... most of those FA watchers are from Narse's and Syrinoth's fan art. So it's not like they're all there for the stories or anything, lol. When Narse uploaded his fan art and gave me that huge (and very appreciated) shout-out to my stories, that brought in a ton of traffic.
~But with that in mind, it's even MORE crazy for me to think that very well-known artists would be drawing me art for free in the first place. If you told me a year ago that I'd have Narse drawing me free art, I'd laugh at you. But since a year ago, I've talked with many well-known and popular artists and have watched a number of them draw on multiple occasions. Hell, I even have Narse's phone number. Holy crap.
~Here's the funny thing: looking back at my stories that I've written a year ago, I find them all horribly written and I cringe when I try to read them. Seriously! I think its funny that I thought the stories were fine when I first published them, cause now I see them as just plain awful. Dragon Ranch is awkwardly written and the characters are ridiculous. The Persistent Dragon is even worse. Gosh, Jake is such a horribly written character. Any of my other stories that I wrote in the first few months of my writing "career” I haven't even tried to go back and read. It's funny to me to see people say these same stories are wonderful and well-written. Maybe I'm just a harsh critic of my own work, but I think I just have have high standards. Sometimes I get urges to go back and fix everything I see, but I can't see much point in all the work involved when most people have already read through them.
~But there's an alternative: I've considered expanding these stories into a more legitimate piece of writing instead of simply editing what I have. I'm talking about fleshing out the stories and characters and wraping everything around a coherent plot. The next thing to do would be to package the in a novel format and present it to one of the few furry erotica publishers out there for publishing. This is only an idea, though, and I don't have any current plans to actually follow through with it. This is mostly because I can't imagine it being worth the effort. The market for a human-dragon erotic novel probably doesn't exist, or if it does, it wouldn't be large enough to be profitable for me.
~A year ago, I doubt I'd believe you if you told me that I'd be making decent money writing porn for people, either! I actually manged to pay for a good portion of this semester's college tuition with the commission money I've saved up. Thanks so much!
~One of the classes I'm taking is a creative writing class, which I would never have taken if I didn't get started in this furry fiction nonsense in the first place. I've written a lot of short story exercises for this class which my prof thinks are very impressive, and I'm now looking at modifying them into larger works and getting them published. These stories certainly have nothing to do with dragons (thank goodness)! I don't intend to write either dragons or anything furry-related at all. I don't know where this pursuit of getting published will lead me, but regardless I have this place to thank as the springboard for this journey. It's funny that looking back at all of this, I've actually started the beginnings of a writing career. I don't know if I'll actually follow through with it, but for now it does not hurt to explore my options. :)
I think that's it. Man, I knew I'd be writing a lot. I am so, so bad at being short and concise in my writing! Sorry!
I don't expect too many people to read this but if you did, I thank you for it. :)

Good news, bad news, and a story teaser, to boot!
Posted 14 years agoSo, my hard drive appears to be fine. I've run multiple SMART scans, virus checks, and ran chkdsk more than once.... and I cannot find anything wrong. My computer has not crashed since the multiple crashing events about a week ago. I have access to a backup drive now and I'm about to put my files on it in a little bit just in case. And yes, all my stories and fan art are now in a Dropbox.
The only problem is that if it's not my hard drive that's causing the crashes, it's something else... and I have no idea what that something else is. Possibly a hardware failure? I can't say. But at least my computer is stable for now, and I have a backup for everything important! I'd like to thank everyone who offered advice and computer help. Even though it turned out that most of your guys' hard drive recovering advice wasn't really needed (this time!), I really appreciate that there's people out there willing to help me.
More bad news... The first thing I did was copy all my fan art and stories onto a a 2 GB SD card, which I promptly misplaced. I hope no one finds it and opens it, otherwise I'm gonna be in a very awkward situation....
Now, with that out of the way, let me tell you what I'm working on at the moment.
~Maya's Tail chapter 2 (with some awesome companion art)
~The second half of A Dragon's Respite
I have no more stories in the works right now... so no Persistent Dragon and no Dragon Ranch anything else. Those stories might have to disappear for a long time while I work on commissions and school... unless someone commissions those too! I know that sucks. But for the next months I'll be busier than I am now, so I can not guarentee anything but the commisisons I take to help pay for classes. :P

And now for a teaser. This is for Maya's Tail. I had a hard, hard time coming up with a story that could rival the first one in terms of plot, and I eventually realized it just wasn't possible due to what happened between the characters and their new understanding with eachother. So instead I came up with some new plot.
Unfortunately, it's the type of plot that has NOTHING to do with the smut that happens later in the story. Which is the worst type of plot. D: I'm sorry, I'm sorry... I didn't mean for it to happen this way. What I have here is something that WONT be in the final story. I took it out and replaced it with something entirely different, but I figured I should at least do something with it, so here ya go:
Oh, and keep in mind this scene is missing the bit of polish that I usually have after I go through my stories for spelling, formatting, grammar, poor wording, ect. :P
"Oh, no you don't!" Ben yelled. "You put that food back."
Despite the order, Ben held his ground and didn't follow. Seeing the human unwilling to persue, the Mightyena let out a cackling laugh-like sound and stood up to leave. He defiantly and deliberately turned around with his tail lifted high and proud as he walked, taking steps in a pompous, showy gait that instantly pissed Ben off even more.
"Maya, come on. Let's-" Ben stopped in mid sentence, suddenly realizing his pokemon was not as his side. He turned around, finding his girafarig cowering behind a tree far too small to hide her body.
Ben slapped his forehead with the palm of his hand. "Maya... come ON. He's taking our camp food! Go get 'em!"
The girafarig whimpered and took a few steps forward, hanging her head low. But suddenly, she felt a reassuring, but very firm pat on the rump as Ben gave her a push, causing Maya to let out a tiny meep of surprise and scamper forward.
She approached the mightyena and let out a timid, baying cry, causing the canine pokemon to stiffen up and turn around, dropping the bag of food in a flash. He crouched low and growled, baring his teeth. Maya tentatively inched closer to him, afraid and reluctant to confront the agressive pokemon.
"S-s-stop... please." Maya whined. "That's my trainer's food, and..." she paused and took a deep breath. "And you can't have it!"
"Oy, is dat so?" The Mightyena cackled. "And whatchoo gonna do 'bout it, you... you..." He looked at her tail and paused in confusion, cocking his head to the side. "Wha da hell are yous, anyway?" The mightyena spoke with a strange accent that was unfamiliar to the girafarig's ears.
Maya curled her lip in a pout. "If you take it, I'll... I'll fight you, I swear!" She did her best sound convincing, but her tentative tone of voice sounded anything but.
The canine pokemon gave Maya a once-over. "Oy, really? Ya wanna fight? Good." He began to pace in a threatening manner, hanging his head low. "Heh... don't worry, sweet cheeks... I'll teach ya a lesson real good. First I'll rip you a new one.... an' den I'll deal with yer nasty li'l human trainer."
"Maya!" Behind her, the girafarig heard Ben calling her name from afar. "Come on, girl... What are you doing? Stomp him or something!"
The mightyena cackled at her. "You n' your filthy li'l trainer... Yer so busy being coddled dat you gone all soft n' weak" He immediately jumped forward and gnashed his teeth at her, causing Maya to let out a quiet meep and take a few steps back in fear. The ragged mightyena chuckled and continued to pace.
Meanwhile, Ben held his head in his hands and sighed. This was not going well. Maya was not much of a fighter. He couldn't remember the last time she had been in a battle. Granted, Ben knew next to nothing about battling himself, so the two were equally in the dark about the situation.
But even so, just seeing his girafarig stand there frozen in fright, unwilling to attack... her behavior was embarrassing him. She was after all, still a pokemon, and Ben was left wondering when he fighting instincts would kick in.
"Maya!" Ben yelled once more. "Come on, girl! I need you to attack him, not have an afternoon discussion with him!"
Maya looked back and fearfully nodded. She lifted one hoof in the air and paused. The mightyena watched with a bemused smile on his snout. "Oy, dis gonn be good. Let's see whatchoo got." He calmly sat down. "Go on. I'm actually curious."
Taking a deep breath, Maya suddenly shut her eyes tight and screamed, rearing up and slamming her hooves down on the canine pokemon. She felt her hooves hit something hard and heard a muffled grunt in her ears.
And when she opened her eyes, she saw the mightyena staring back at her in a mixture of shock and rage. A harsh, red line had appeared down his cheek.
"You..." his eyes narrowed. "You little-"
In an instant, the mightyena lunged, snarling as he tackled the girafarig, causing Maya to squeal in fright. The ragged canine went for the throat, and both pokemon tumbled head over heels as they wrestled and fought. Ben winced as he heard his girafarig let out a distressed cry. He wanted to intervene.
If you liked that, go read chapter 1! http://www.furaffinity.net/view/6616523/ I promise you it's a good story. And also a hot story. :P
