Back, but moved accounts (again >.>)
Posted 11 years agoI got tired of being unable to interact with my friends that didn't have Weasyl accounts, so I came crawling back.
My new account is here, along with some new art: Serenciel
Thanks for checking this journal, and hopefully for adding me over there! ;D

Farewell. <3
Posted 12 years agoThis will be my last journal for a while.
I've decided, after much thought, to take a more official hiatus from the site. I come here once in awhile to check for messages people have left for me (there are very rarely any) and I've found I have no drive or desire to look at my watched artists' submissions, participate in activities, or interact and be social.
The furry fandom has been there for me for over 15 years at this point. I've been to countless conventions (my first one being in 2002), drawn lots of furry art, had my many characters drawn more times than I can remember, met lots of amazing people (and unfortunately a goodly number of unsavories, too.)
But I feel very little connection to it anymore. When I see people talk about fursuits, fandom drama, that they're going to this or that convention or that they've had their character drawn for the 1000th time, instead of being excited like I used to be, I feel jaded. Not bitter, don't get me wrong. But I've seen all I wanted to see and done all I wanted to do. And it's time for me to move on, at least for now.
Maybe all I need is a nice, long break. Or maybe I'll never really be part of the furry fandom again. Either way, I'm glad to have been a part of it. It's taught me a lot artistically and socially, given me friends when I thought I had none, and made me feel like I belonged somewhere.
Thank you, furry fandom. I'll never forget you, and you'll always be a part of me.
Farewell, for now. <3

Sylestia - New fun free pet game!
Posted 12 years agoFlight Rising is down (*tantrum*), so I did some exploring to find something to scratch my pet site addiction itch. XD
http://bit.ly/13mu8VJ
Full disclosure: that link there is my referral. If you don't want to refer me, you can just go to www.sylestia.com instead!
It's a fun game that does things a bit differently from most I've seen. You start by creating a pet and picking all its colors/genes, then you battle it around their little world, which is how you find new pets to breed with. You can also find fun items to wear on your human avatar (yeah, I know XD But I have seen tails and stuff!) or equip to your pet to make it stronger.
The art isn't OMG AMAZING, but it is really cute and the style is endearing. This is the pet I made: http://www.sylestia.com/view/pets/?petid=204730
Anyhoo! It's really cute so far and it's just getting started. It's always fun to hop in on the ground level of something so you can see how it grows and evolves. And...you know. It's actually up and working. XD;

Posted 12 years agoI've gotten a few messages from people here and there that are worried about me, so I'm writing a journal so it'll be kind of obvious that I'm not dead. XD
Basically I have withdrawn into full-on hermit mode due to a combination of not feeling well and being busy AFK. I'm okayish, I promise, but there's a lot going on in my body and in my head, and it makes being social a lot more difficult than usual.
I promise I'm not trying to ignore or avoid anyone in particular on purpose. I can only say that I need a break from online social responsibilities for a while. I can't promise when I'll be back, because right now I just don't know.
If you need to talk to me or have any concerns, you can Note me and I'll get back to you probably within a few days.
<3 Thanks for being patient with me and I hope you're all doing well!

Flight Rising dragon game -- Do you play?
Posted 12 years agoAnd if you don't play, why don't you? It's free!
http://flightrising.com/
Feel free to fill in my name (Azzyblue) as your referrer if you like. Really, though, I just think this game needs way more exposure. I believe it's the best breeding game out there, and I've played a decent few.
The art is really beautifully drawn, and it's very fun to get into the community and see what color babies your dragons make. If you like breeding games, give this one a try! I'm sort of addicted at this point, if you can't tell. XD
Small warning: The game is very new, and they recently had some issues which are fixed for the most part, it seems. But they had to take down their minigames (the main way to make in-game currency) while they fix the remainder of the problems, so it may be difficult to come by money until after your first clutch of eggs hatches and you can sell the babies. I don't expect them to take too long to fix them though, and the admins have promised that downtime presents are coming! So get in now so you can get some freebies :D

What do your character's colors say about you?
Posted 12 years agohttp://bit.ly/19yiT1S
Very interesting applying color theory to characters! I know personally that I have a very strong connection to both blue and white, which is why my dragon is primarily those colors :D
My colors, in order of most to least used:
Light blue
Bright blue
White
Deep blue
Light pink
So in essence, calm, patient and peaceful, but with a vibrant and high-spirited streak; possessing an innocent/naive outlook on life. Thoughtful and introspective, reliable (at least in some ways ;D), with a bit of affection and sugar-sweetness thrown in :D
What about you? How do your character's colors translate? :D

Need some samples!
Posted 12 years agoSo I'm needing to make some cashmoney, and I'd like to find some fast, fun little commissions I can do so I don't get burnt out.
Want to be a guinea pig? Gimme a ref! (Text refs are okay, but you don't get any corrections with these, so make sure it's nice and detailed). You might get an icon, you might get a bust, you might get a little digital badge, you might get something else, you might get nothing! WHO KNOWS? NOT ME
Yes, it's free. (Though if you like what you get, I wouldn't turn down a tip!)
I'd also love some ideas for little quickie commissions for icons or busts or tiny chibi cuteness. I have a couple little ideas, but I definitely would welcome more!
Paypal address for tipsies, if you are so inclined: teekachu[at]gmail.com
Edit: Just one done so far, but I'll get more done later tonight and tomorrow. My days are a bit busy but I plan on doing at least a little something for everyone :D

Random life news (and other things)!
Posted 12 years ago* I've been attempting to drink more water each day. I used to never drink water (all coke instead, which is bad, I know) and now I'm up to about 2 bottles per day, a giant improvement. Not a giant grand amount of progress, but baby steps I can stick with and be happy about.
* Had to go to the eye doctor yesterday, because I feared I was turning into a zombie. http://twitpic.com/cqj3rq It now looks way better, yay! Unfortunately I have a chronic condition that causes my eyes to get really dry and get little cuts, so I'm on medication now to try to help that so it doesn't happen as much.
* Hoard Discord was almost ready for print-and-play Beta testing, but in playing I realized the game needed a fun mechanic added. I don't want this game to be sub-par and boring; it has the potential to be extremely fun, so I'm reworking the deck and some elements of play to implement my new idea. It's a lot of work, so the beta is getting pushed back some, but it will be worth it.
* I'm finding myself drifting away from furry quite a bit. I feel somewhat like I'm on the outside of this huge party, looking in. I don't like it, but I can't really change it at this point. I still love the art, but I just can't relate to lifestylers as much anymore. (Not that I'm judging... to each their own! These are just my thoughts :) ) My interests lately have more been centered around fantasy and dragons, and... people. The way they think and live and what makes them tick. Efforts in finding non-furry friends to get to know have been unsuccessful, though. Which is okay, because I do still have hermitty stages and enough friends I'm ignoring as it is. XD;
*
vaeghor is cooking. Tonight we're having delicious cheeseburgers. OMNOMNOM.
* I need to start diving into learning French, but it's hard to find a good lesson set online that's laid out well (I'm hunting for something for free preferably, since money is tight), and I'm not really able to go out regularly to take a class for various personal reasons. If anyone has any leads, I'd be grateful!
* LINE is the best mobile messenger ever. I have it both on my iPod and my PC and it keeps the conversations I have with people consistent. Very handy! Plus they have cute "stickers" (like big emoticons) that you can use in conversation, and they're cute and fun :D
*
vaeghor just gave me my burger, so that's all for now! *STUFFS FACE*

Posted 12 years agoI'm not dead, though I have been alternatively sick and busy, so I haven't been particularly reachable lately. Sorry about that!
This is the first page of the rules that will be included with the print and play Beta version of the Hoard Discord card game. I used Scribus to make it, which is a free, open-source alternative to Adobe Pagemaker. Quite the learning curve, but I think I'm doing okay so far.

Privacy Fences
Posted 12 years agoThis is a "feelings" journal. ;D I'm just doing some thinking.
When I first left home, I was a social butterfly. You couldn't keep me away from any friendly outings or furmeets; I always craved attention, and always craved being around people. I couldn't stand to be alone. I was also always on the computer and chatting with just about everyone I could.
As the years have passed, I've become more independent. I like doing my own thing, and have become much better able to entertain myself. Unfortunately it's begun to backfire.
Imagine... you have a house. You've always invited people in, even left the doors unlocked because you have appreciated your friends' and neighbors' company. And not only do you appreciate their company, but they've come to rely on you always being there, your house being open to their presence in case it rained and they needed to come in to get dry. They would tell you things about themselves, and you always listened.
It made you feel needed, wanted. It got to the point where you almost couldn't stand the thought of locking the doors or spending time alone, even if you wanted to. What if someone needed you? What if you hurt someone's feelings, or someone needed to talk to you and tell you their problems, and you weren't there to listen?
Things are good for a while. Your neighbors appreciate you, and you enjoy being around them. But gradually things start to change. You go to the store, just for a few minutes, and come back home, where people are waiting for you. The reactions range from "Why weren't you here? Why didn't you leave us a note?" to "Are you okay? What happened? Why did you have to leave? Something must be wrong! You must hate us!"
Hurriedly, frantically, you reassure them. "No, of course not! I was just gone for a little while! I'm so sorry! I'll try not to leave you again." Begrudgingly, your neighbors and friends accept your answer, some relieved, some a bit annoyed but willing to let it slip, just this once. Things go back to normal.
One day, you decide you want a day to yourself. You've worked hard, and deserve a break! You put a sign on the door letting people know you'll be gone. You take a bath, you watch television, you play some games, you do chores... lots of things you don't usually have time to do. But all the while, you're tense and scared. "What if they're upset that I'm gone? What if they need me and I'm not there? What if they're mad when I come back? What if... what if... what if...?" You can't relax. Even though you've taken your break, it doesn't feel like a break at all.
The next day you throw the doors back open and apologize profusely (because again, some of them look worried or annoyed) and try to explain you just needed a break. "You needed a break from us? Well geez, sorry we're such a burden!" And a few of the more annoyed ones leave.
You're devastated. Your worst fear has come true; you weren't there when they needed you and now you've lost them. You still have other friends of course, but it's different now. You can swear some of them look at you mistrustfully, sneering and talking amongst themselves across the room, others cling all the harder, so glad you're back and not wanting to let you go again.
The stress begins to get to you. Eventually, you hire a contractor, and a privacy fence is built around your house. "When the gate is open, you're welcome to come in and talk to me!" You tell all your friends and neighbors. "If it's closed, please try again later. I'm sorry for the inconvenience, but I just need some space." Shaking their heads, your friends and neighbors nevertheless do as you ask. But you notice fewer and fewer of them come by in the months to come. You begin to have your privacy fence closed more often, thankful to finally get to relax.
One day you're feeling particularly lonely. You throw the gate wide, inviting everyone to come in and have fun with you! But this time... nobody comes. They were tired of staring at your privacy fence for so long, and they now have better things to do, more reliable friends to spend time with. Once in awhile someone comes by, and you do everything you can to get them to stay, even things you might not be proud of doing. It gets you some attention, but the privacy fence stays closed for a while long enough that even that trickle of people goes away.
Eventually someone comes by, and you're excited to have them over! But what they have to say isn't good; they tell you that people have said some pretty nasty things about you. It seems there aren't that many people that like or trust you anymore, and many people you used to call friends resent your disappearance.
Only a few people have stuck around and know the real you anymore. You appreciate them very much, are very grateful they've stuck by you... but there are a lot of times when they're not around, or you're not around, or the timing is just... off. And you get more and more lonely, but more and more private, and don't know how to fix it.
That's pretty much where I'm at. I desperately long for company, but I also desperately long for my privacy, after far too long without it. Most of my friends have moved on, or we don't connect as well as we used to... people change, learn and grow, and sometimes grow apart. I've tried to make new friends to fill the gaps, but hardly anyone "sticks".
I guess a big thing is, too, that I'm just not the kind of person that most people in this fandom want as a friend. I don't text-cuddle, I don't textfuck anymore. I want real, actual conversations with real, actual people about their days, their thoughts, their personal projects, and things about the world around us. I want to have someone that actually likes card games so I can babble and get excited about my game without feeling like they're humoring me and that they're just waiting patiently or impatiently for me to stop talking. I don't fault people for not being into what I'm into... but I really would like to talk to someone that is...
Anyway...wow, this has gotten long XD I guess my point is that I'm lonely. It doesn't help that my current sleep schedule has me awake when most people are asleep, I'm sure... and my laptop cable is busted and I'm waiting for a new one, so I'm not on messengers much lately, but even if those weren't the case, who would even want to talk, really, truly talk, to me anymore?
It's my own fault, but I can't help feeling like an outcast in a sea of outcasts.
Proofreaders Needed!
Posted 12 years agoIf anyone has time and doesn't mind taking a look at these rules for the Hoard Discord card game, I'd be very grateful!
Particular things I'm curious about:
* Are the rules easy to understand? Are they too wordy?
* Are there any confusing game words that would require a small glossary, or are they explained well enough?
* Are there any places in the rules where images would be particularly helpful? (The image in there right now will be replaced; it's just there so there's some visual representation of the game somewhere.)
* Is everything in a good order, or should anything be switched around?
* Are there any glaring grammatical errors?
Thank you so much to anyone that helps! :D

Dragon card game name -- Votes needed please!
Posted 12 years agoI have a few names I'm bouncing between for this card game. ShenaniDragons, even as clever as it was, just wasn't working for me; it's a bit too awkward and not everyone would understand it, sadly.
Please let me know which of the following names is your favorite!
1. Relic Rumble: A Game of Dragon Shenanigans
2. Greedy Claws: A Game of Dragon Shenanigans
3. Hoard Discord: A Game of Dragon Shenanigans
And an explanation of the game mechanics, in case it helps:
The general idea is that you and your opponents play as dragons that are competing for status as Dragon Champion (may change that title, but you get the idea), and that is gained by having the best (most valuable) hoard. Throughout the game you draw Treasure cards. These you lay in front of you and pile together in certain combinations of color and type of treasure that add to the value of your hoard. Also drawn are Action and Instant cards (which allow you to steal treasures or other cards from opponents, draw more cards, protect your hoard, that kind of thing) and Major Events (that shake the game up a bit for everyone, but aren't necessarily going to change things entirely -- for instance, making everyone give up five treasures to shuffle together and hand back, so everyone ends up with different treasure than they started with). Major Events also act as a "timer" for the game -- after a certain number of Major Events have been found, the game ends. Everything is done with a sort of tongue-in-cheek feel to it; while most dragons in stories and legends are big, powerful and awe-inspiring, the dragons featured in this game are silly and greedy, each with their own personality, but all wanting the most treasure, whether for status or just to have the most shinies. ;)
Thank you everyone :D

Dragon card game name ideas!
Posted 12 years agoI've had some opinions from people regarding names, and also some extra suggestions, so I wanted to update my list and invite new suggestions from my watchers :D
In case it helps, this is the overview written in the rulebook:
Dragon’s Hoard takes place in a world where dragons compete for fame and glory amongst their fellows. In dragon terms, a hoard is a dragon’s personal collection of treasure. The greater the value of the hoard, the greater the status of its owner. After all, you have to be a fierce and cunning dragon indeed to hold onto so much treasure, especially since other members of your clan (as well as other inhabitants of the world) are waiting for you to let your guard down so they can snag your riches for themselves!
One of these clans is home to five particularly ambitious dragons, who are in constant competition with one another to be seen as the Dragon Champion of their clan. You play the role of one of these dragons, doing your best to gather as much treasure as possible, piling it in ways that make the treasure more valuable. But be careful, because your friends (or enemies? Frenemies?) will steal your treasure the first chance they get.
Champion's Hoard (The winner of the game is called the Dragon Champion, so it's relevant)
Dragons' Trove (Pretty neat treasurey-sounding name! Suggested by Aquilla-Whingate)
Hoard Discord (I'll be honest, I love wordplay, and the game isn't very serious, so a fun name is nice!)
Shenanidragons (XD Silly and cute and fun, also more wordplay! Suggested by Steelehuskie on Twitter)
Ones I probably won't go with, but keeping around in case:
Flight of Fortune (there isn't much to do with flight in the game)
Treasure Tales (Sounds a bit too kid-ish)
Dragon Snatch (*immature gigglesnort*)
Suggestions and opinions are very much welcome! I'll choose a name from the list above, adding to the list as I get good suggestions from people or think of new names. If I pick a name from a suggestion someone gives me, I'll be sure to thank them in the game's Credits section of the rulebook :D
Thanks guys! You're awesome <333

Dragon's Hoard ... minor major setback
Posted 12 years agoSo as some of you might know, I've been working on developing a card game. The name was Dragon's Hoard; I say "was" because it was pointed out to me today that there's another card game with a Kickstarter called Dragon's Hoard. Despite the fact their Kickstarter was created after I named the game, there isn't too much I can do besides rename mine. Which is okay. I was pretty sad to hear this news, but the game coming out via Kickstarter does look pretty epic, and is pretty different from my own concept. :>
Still, I'm having trouble coming up with ideas for a new name for my game. So far my best choices are:
Treasure Tales (Sounds a bit too kid-ish, leaning away from this one)
Champion's Hoard (The winner of the game is called the Dragon Champion, so it's relevant)
Flight of Fortune (Leaning away from this because there isn't much to do with flight in the game)
Dragons' Trove (Pretty neat treasurey-sounding name!)

In any case, besides this one annoying setback, the game is just about ready to be released to potential playtesters. Probably another week or two and it will be good to go! If you're interested in playtesting, feel free to leave me a comment or send me a note :> I'll be sending PDFs, so you'll need a printer and some time to cut 144 cards, haha.
For more info about the game, go here! http://dragons-hoard.tumblr.com/ (I'll update the address when I have a new name.)

Back soon, hopefully!
Posted 12 years agoI have been neglecting the internet/FA and my online friends lately. Despite my frequent hermitude, I haven't been this level of AFK since I started being an internet junkie. Unfortunately this isn't something I'm doing by choice. I'm not sure if it's my chair and desk setup or my body just being dumb, but every time I try to be at my computer lately I start to feel sick and/or my stomach hurts. So that's been kind of a bummer. I've been using my iPod Touch for pretty much all of my internetting lately, but typing on this little bitty on-screen keyboard gets really frustrating after a while. This is the main reason why I've been so quiet the last few months, and not responding to comments as often.
Thankfully,
vaeghor has taken pity on me and has said I can have a netbook for my birthday; he's even going to let me have it early! So hopefully I should be back and chatty not too long from now :3 Yeee.

Posted 12 years agoJust wanted to write a quick note in case anyone was worried about my absence. I'm okay, just been feeling sickly/fatigued and have been resting up AFK. I suspect it will get better soon, and that I'm experiencing sort of a crash as my hormones are trying to level out (had my IUD removed on Monday). Hope you guys are all doing well!
Mirena IUD -- My experience
Posted 12 years agoI wanted to detail what's been happening to me the last couple years and is regarding my birth control and symptoms I've had to deal with since having it put in. Feel free to read!

Fun question! What's your gaming style?
Posted 12 years agoI was having a discussion with Marshie a bit ago about our preferred gaming styles, and it makes me curious about what everyone I know prefers!
So, the question!
When playing games, do you prefer fast-paced games with a lot of action, or games where you can slow down and take your time? Optionally, what games do you like to play, and what do you use to play them?
Usually I prefer to slow down and take my time, to plan the best move, especially in mobile games! I tend to panic and flail when I have to make quick decisions, so when I play games, I play them to relax and prefer to not feel rushed. I do get into certain moods and like faster gameplay, but usually I play faster-paced games because of other elements that I enjoy (RPG, simulation or platformers).
Slower games I like: Final Fantasy 7, 9 or 10 (PS2), Dungenator (iOS), Knights of Pen and Paper (iOS), RuneRaiders (iOS), Defender of Texel (iOS), Lots of farming simulation games on iOS XD
Faster games I like: Sly Cooper series (PS2), Ratchet and Clank series (PS2), Okami (PS2), Guild Wars 2 (PC), Tiny Wings (iOS), Skyrim (PS3)
