howdy everyone!

i've been talking about this a bit on twitter but i don't think i mentioned it here; i ended up having to cancel FC and have been in Florida for the past few days. i'll be leaving back for CA tomorrow which i'm NOT LOOKING FORWARD TOO LOL but what can you do

i've been talking with everyone whom i owe badges to for FC, and i was able to either drop them off Thursday before I left or i'll be mailing them out once back in CA. they're all finished already!

other things: commissions are coming along. i'm working on finishing most of the work i have sketched already before moving on to sketch some more, and getting my queue dwindled down as much as possible before school begins. things are going to be a little more tight than usual this semester of school since it's going to be my first year using federal aid and i'll need to go to campus one day more than i did last semester (three days a week as opposed to two, which is a significant difference when your commute is an hour and a half away). i've had to take a lot more time off work than i'd like to recently as well, so financially i'm a little worried and would like to advertise for more commissions, again, once my queue is down more

other than that things have been well! i'm getting increasingly worried about my car which continues to have mechanical problems but there's no way in hell that i can afford a new one so we're just gonna keep hoping it keeps its shit together

i learned the other day that there's apparently a commuter train that runs from my city to my school's city, but it runs at very specific hours so idk if i'd be able to use it. if anything i may be able to use it for my one friday class which i'm sure will still be a lot better than having to pay to fill my tank a third time each week

uhhhh i think that's it! florida has been nice. i've been able to spend time with my partner and some really nice people so it'll be a drag to leave (my partner got really ill and thus why i had to cancel FC and come here instead) but i'm sure i'll be back to visit again soon, finances permitting

HEYYYYYYYOO as of yesterday i'm done with finals!! YEAH!!

i'm really excited to get back into focusing on art more (for. a month), i've been itching to draw and i'm ready to crack down and get through my queue

- i'll be at FURCON for the whole weekend, just hanging out, but i'll be able to do badge pickups and i'll have some of my merch with me to give to friends n junk so yeah!! will be staying with me and it's gonna be a fun time. <3

finals wise, i got straight B's in all my classes which if you know me and my recent struggles with school is a huge improvement, i think switching my major last semester really was a good idea, it's a big relief to no longer have to worry about being on academic probation fhjfh

OKAY... i sat down and decided to try and really revamp my commission prices and wanted to know what you guy's thought.

i haven't had a whole lot of time lately to work on commissions, i'm sorry that it's been taking a little longer than usual to get things done. school started up and i'm having a lot of trouble with one class of mine, and working on the projects for it takes up a lot of my time because maya is a shitty program and i'm also just not very good at the subject. so between making sure i'm getting my classwork done + working every day where i don't have class, i've been squeezing commissions in when i can but it's been taking longer than i'd like.

as always though, you can keep track of your commission progress using my trello queue, and i'll send out notes every time there's a significant update. thanks so much for your patience!

goretober commissions are officially OPEN! each spot is first come, first serve, but you can use duplicate spots or free spots to claim a theme if someone else has already claimed it.

here's the basics:

- each spot is $30. (DISCOUNTED FOR THE END OF OCTOBER!) each pose will be at least a waist/thigh up or fullbody, whatever works best aesthetically for the piece. if it's VERY IMPORTANT for you to have a fullbody image, PLEASE LET ME KNOW! otherwise i'll go with what i think fits best for the composition of the image!

- extra characters are + $10

- with my current queue, these commissions are planned to be completed by mid/end november or early december. if you have a deadline, i can work with that, but due to the queue it will be an additional 10. IF YOU HAVE A DEADLINE YOU NEED TO LET ME KNOW! i won't know if you have a deadline unless you tell me!

- you're welcome to give me and ideas for poses within your theme, or ideas of how exactly you want your theme to be represented, etc.

hello friends!

i was wondering if there would be any interest in goretober commissions this year? i did them last year and folks seemed to enjoy them a lot

they would be i'm thinking $35 or $40 each, fullbody shaded, with the theme of your choice

so, hey. i see a lot of artists on here who do commissions, and i see a lot of artists who do commissions very... unprofessionally. poorly, even. and i see a lot of artists who can come across as very entitled, in a way, or who are expectant of customers to be the ones to take measures to protect them, the artist, or meet the artist's needs, or be patience to a fault with the artist, and like... that's not how it works.

yes, customers should be willing to work with the artist and should act respectful and politely during a commission, because that's just the nice and proper thing to do. but customers are still customers. commissions are BUSINESS. even if art is your hobby, or commissions are your hobby, the SECOND that money changes hands, that is considered a business transaction and you, the artist, must act in a professional manner throughout.

i think that the world of the commission business is making a lot of really cool strides in making things fair for the business holders as well as the customers. it's not as easy for customers to con money out of people, for example, since you own your own business and don't have to adhere to a company policy of "the customer is always right" and stuff like that. you have a LOT more power and freedom to handle yourself in a way that you want to, and that'll often be the thing that'll attract customers to you, and i think that's really cool and awesome and that's what i love about being a commission artist honestly!

but i see a loooooot of people who just... don't see this as a business, and thus, don't act professionally. or, at least, don't learn how to act professionally. i know i sure didn't know how to do things professionally when i first started doing commissions, but i learned, and now i do by best to ensure that commissions go forward with good communication, customer satisfaction, and understanding from all sides. and making mistakes is to be expected. but my issue is with people who have been employing the same bad business practices for YEARS but still have no concept of how they should be treating their customers or running their business, and then getting mad when people call them out it.

I DUNNO WHY I SUDDENLY FELT THE NEED TO TYPE THIS, i guess i've just been seeing quite a bit of entitlement come from artists (on tumblr especially) and it just reeeeally grates on me

i had tried implementing this a while back, but i saw another artist i watch do this and it inspired me to make one of these again, too!

this will act as sort of a testimonials/reviews section for people to look at prior to commissioning me, and for those of you whom have gotten commissions from me in the past to drop by and let me know how you think the process went!

don't be afraid to mention if there was something that you think could have been done better, or if there was something you were dissatisfied with. i want this to be a completely honest review section!
