Posted a year agoWell, today marks 23 years on this Earth and 4 years in the fandom!
It's been a helluva year. Last time I made one of these posts I'd just graduated, and quit work to move back in with my parents. In the time since I got a new, better job, and saved like crazy to buy my own apartment.
It's been a couple months since moving and I feel like I'm settling in. I think with all the new bills I'm basically back to square 1 in terms of how much art I can afford, since Art Fight really showed me I'm not gonna be doing my own art until I really feel like knuckling down and learning. Except ref sheets. Those are fairly simple to do. Might do the goat characters next. Or Constantine's crew.
I'm thinking I should write more this year. A lot of my lore is starting to fall into place

Posted a year agoJust getting a commission rn and I noticed they've put some fraud warnings on the note system. It's an artist I've commissioned a bajillion times but I appreciate them keeping people alert.
It's funny, I work in banking and one of the questions we check people on is "Has the work been completed yet?" if they're paying for a service. Obviously that's not usual for art commissions (even professionally I believe); so obviously you need to know an artist is actually gonna get back to you, and not just take the money and run.
So, all in all, makes my job marginally easier. Not much easier, but easier nonetheless.

is not the best paying job in the world but its WAY more than my last job (mcdonalds) and its wayyyyyyyyyyyy more chill
so thimgs are lookin good
expect cool arts when they start paying me
in about a month
or I guess expect cool arts the month after that cuz proper artists dont just generate the good shit (ur stinky if you do)

Posted 2 years agoWell, today marks my 22nd year on this planet and the 3rd year since I made Stephanie and became more active in this fandom.
I feel like this has been the most "safe" year. I got all my friend circles firmly established now, and my characters, and I mostly just sat back and enjoyed having more financial freedom.... by commissioning bird porn lmao
Its been rough working at McDonalds, but I graduated, quit work a few weeks ago, had a week travelling across Europe (Gdansk, Dusseldorf, Brussels), and now I'm back living with my parents. Hopefully I'll have a better job soon. One that pays more too.
So, expect a slight pause in art for a month or two, then I'll be back into the swing of things. I swear I said this last year but I have several character ideas I want to get done - I've spent the past year developing them into integral parts of my ongoing lore, so expect them to come out quite polished, when I get around to it. The Lion is probably going to be next...
Also, as a birthday gift from

Secondary Characters is going to reserved for characters I don't use much or don't have a concrete plan for. I don't want to get rid of them but they're not a priority, especially when I have some more interesting characters planned, who tie into my "main" characters better.

How the time flies lol
It'll soon be a year since I joined
, where I've met many of my closest friends in the fandom
I may have fallen off a bit with art recently, but the improvements I've made whilst communicating with Art Gainz are pretty self-evident!
I got a job recently, so hopefully I'll be able to expand my price range for comissions - not many people will take a maximum of $30, and for fair enough reasons.
I've got at least five character ideas on the go too. A Markhor, a Lion, a Peacock-Pheasant, a Luwak, and a Striped Hyena.
Plus a handful of more minor ideas that I might use in art of my focus characters. There's probably gonna be a couple from my current lineup I might let take a back seat too, until I figure them out better.
I may have a certain birthday special coming teeheehee

1) Finally finished my 1st semester assignments. Or mostly, at least. I'm gonna do some redrafting tomorrow. I'm more or less assignment free until March anyway
2) Got feedback on an assignment from last month. 2000 words on the usage of animals in the poetry of Thomas Hardy as he explored existentialism. Basically proto-furry stuff. Got my best grade yet for this course!
3) Drew what ended up developing into my best art yet!
4) Had some random compliments towards Stephanie on the FurAffinity Forums!
5) Got a domino's!

- Airborne Vehicle could just be lumped in with the other robot category. It doesn't need to be distinct.
- Why is there a Vulpine (other) and Fox (other)? They aren't synonymous, but Fox includes every species in the tribe Vulpini
- Aeromorph is mecha again! Why is it distinct from Airborne Vehicle AND the other robots?
- Dutch Angel Dragons are explicitly a Dragon species. I get why they're in the open species section, but they could just be posted under Dragons.
- Angel is a massive umbrella term. Like what, Cherubs? Seraphim? Why not just make an other category for them? Same goes for demons.
- Half the mythological species are hybrids. Which were already covered.
- Demons and Daemons?
- Incubus and Succubus should go under demons.
- A minor nitpick but Hobbits by technicality, aren't mythological. They lived on Flores, Indonesia, in the ice age. Check out Homo Floriensis.
- Aren't yokai an enormous, diverse group?
- Same goes for Pokemon
- I can assure you transformers are too.
- Corvid/ Crow issue persists

- BUFFALO APPEARS TWICE

Here's a family tree of almost all Vertebrates, if you wanna have a reference for worldbuilding, or if you're just curious. It's by family, and currently includes all Mammals, Reptiles, Birds, Amphibians and Sarcopterygian Fish.
Should be mostly correct. Used phylogenetic trees on Wikipedia as a reference.
Might add the Actinopterygians, Chondrichthyians, Myxini, Hyperoartians, Lancelets, Ascidiaceans, Thaliaceans and Larvaceans later on, to complete the entire Chordate phylum.
