20220123 - Updates
Posted 4 years agoI am horrible about checking up on my page, as the dates have shown. So this will be yet another little time capsule to look back upon.
Updates on me:
Lost two family members in 2021.
I like she/they as my pronouns.
I still enjoy plushes and have an almost absurd collection of them on my couch.
I still enjoy MLP and Transformers. Still collect them.
My muses are evil, and I want to write and draw more than I do. So, I will try and placate them more.
I devour books still if I don't pace myself.
I enjoy anime. The trope of "person/group who gets transferred to a fantasy world" is an enjoyable one to me.
I still needlefelt.
I have made a quilt or two.
I have made a squid pillow.
I have cosplayed as Rey for Halloween.
I have too many emotions (like who doesn't) flowing through that I still need to get a hold on for a lot of things.
Thanks for reading.

Posted 6 years agoNo snazzy journal title here.
Just thoughts and yet another cycling of writing to avoid drawing, reading to avoid writing, and drawing to avoid reading. But all has been inspiring.
So, I have been reading the Parasol Protectorate series (who are we kidding, I'm on the next series of that universe now, the Custard Protocol series) and they are books that just one can devour. They are too much fun. Supernatural, werewolves, steampunk, yay.
I really need to get out of my not posting art funk. or at least the not posting art here funk, not that I have been posting it much anywhere. Maybe soon. I don't know. I should be more regular in things.
Farmers markets are awesome. I love them.

Happy last day of 2018
Posted 7 years agoA lot has gone on this year.
It was a year that was very eventful and some events I wish did not happen, and I'm not even speaking politically. In July, I got to say goodbye to my grandfather this summer during a visit to California. He passed away a month or so later, then his funeral (he was cremated) in October. I'm not even sure I am over it, but he was more interesting than the "most interesting man in the world." He helped work on the early computers (with patents), he went to MIT, he was in WW2, he lived in Mexico on a boat for 20 years, raced cars, rebuilt a lotus racecar, worked for NASA...and I'm sure that I haven't even scraped most of what he has done. He loved to learn, and he loved languages. He baked the best biscuits I have ever tasted. I miss him.
I went through three laptops this year. One was the one I had for a few years, the next was borrowed, and the third was the one I got for Christmas after many months of no laptop. I spent a few hours at Microcenter yesterday making sure that the fourth computer this year would not error out on me during updating. So that's where I'm typing from.
I'm working, though even that is unsure at the end of June. I have my master's degree and even that hasn't helped me in the job hunt. Though I'm currently at a place that I love and that has taken me in like family, I'm going to miss it. I do want to have my degree work for me. It would be quite nice if it would and did. Wish things were quite sure.
I am hoping that 2019 will be a better year.

Blogging elsewhere
Posted 9 years agoI have been blogging on a site called Niume and it is a bit fun. I've been doing a couple of series of posts as a blogger on there, my favorite being "How Not to Hold a Yard Sale" for those who may or may not find themselves deciding to have one, and the other series is "Vague and Spoiler Free Movie Reviews" which just got the vague part recently.

Bleh. No FAU2016 for me.
Posted 9 years agoSo sad that I won't be able to go to FAU this year because it's in another state. It was going to be squeaky anyways this year if I was as I had been able to go. It's sad for me because I had been going to the convention since its start way back when the convention itself started.
oh well. It was nice while it lasted with going. I'm going to miss the FAU family, as it was fun.

10 years?
Posted 10 years agoAccording to the thing, I've passed my 10 year (in the current system, i know things changed or whatnot at one point and things got restarted) anniversary on FA.
I remember when it was first starting out, way back in the days of when Sheezy Art was a thing, when there was this mass exodus off of Deviant Art and there was the desire to find a space that wasn't the VCL. Didn't one of the older furry art sites also die? Then there was this whole thing with Y!galleries...it was a mess. And now we're here.
So yeah, ten years. Woo. Go me.

Halloween
Posted 10 years agoI have decided to try cosplaying a genderbent Starswirl (the bearded) for Halloween, or if certain parts don't get here in time, having a Starswirl (the bearded) costume for whenever.
I have the wig coming in the mail (long, silvery and curly <3)
I need to make:
The hat.
The cape.
The Robes (if I don't want to try using that bit of warmth I wear in winter that inspired me to become Starswirl)
The patch that has Starswirl's cutie mark.
That's about it. If I'm unable to get all this set, I'll probably either be genderbent older Timmy Turner (again) or simply awesome and figure out what to use that gorgeous wig for along with my hats.
I am going to get a horn and ears for Starswirl later because they will be hidden under the hat (should I complete it in time) and the other is that even looking on a wiki for Starswirl the bearded, he's either silver/white, silver/blue, silver/grey. Thus I am unsure of what horn to get (as there is a site that has them and well I missed the halloween deadline X3)

FAU Con Meme 2015
Posted 10 years agoWhere are you staying?
In one of the rooms at the Hanover Marriott will be where I will be making my nest with a friend of mine.
What day are you getting there?
Thursday, because that's when my reservations start and it's the day after I finish up my classes for my master's degree so it's going to be my happy time.
Who are you rooming with?
A bunch of ponies and mein bestsie Naruloth (Naru) who goes through names like they're chocolate covered potato chips.
Who will you hang out with during the convention?
Mainly Naru and anyone that can tolerate me. Though most of the time I will be in the Dealer's den oh carp I need to make sure I'm all set >_<
Are there any panels you might be attending?
Yes. I'm hoping for a certain panel to be there because if it isn't the story continuation is going to get to me. Also, I love the Auction.
Will you be suiting?
I wish.
What is your gender?
Ladything
How tall are you?
At a decent height.
Can I talk to you?
It's one of the reasons why I'm there at the convention.
Can I touch you?
If you are asking for a hug, then I'll usually give a hug. Ask first. Please. There's only certain few that are allowed to do surprised hugs and if you have to ask if you are one of them, it's probably not you.
How can I find you?
I'm in the dealer's room. Or use the Blade signal.
Can I visit your room?
Invite only, please. There's plenty of times to see me over the few days of the convention. I don't really hide.
Can I buy you drinks?
Um...okay? I like teavana's orange blossom and youthberry tea, hot or iced. Or Starbuck's chai tea, whole milk. Alcohol wise...I'm a bit fussy since I don't like the taste of most booze. but if you can find that purple swirly bottle that has shimmery stuff in it, I'm in. (it's got vodka and moscato wine in it...and magic.)
Can I give you stuff?
If you want. It will always surprise me when people want to give me stuff.
Can I hug or snuggle with you?
Please ask. I don't mind giving hugs, but I'm picky about who I snuggle with.
How long are you going?
From the day of Thor to the day of the Moon.
Do you have an artist table?
It's a dealer's room table.
Will you be going to parties?
Not sure, but I may be a part of the Build-a-bear Pony run for the third year in a row.
Will you be performing?
Nope. Not unless I'm dragged on stage for something and I don't get this deer caught in headlights look because of the bright lights.
If I see you, how should I get your attention?
set up the Blade signal in the sky. Or, I dunno, come over and say "hi!" to me.
Where will you be most of the time during the day/s?
Behind the dealer's table.
What/where will you be eating?
Food, and the souls of the damned...they taste like chocolate.
Can I come with you for food/fun/etc?
I'd have to talk to Naru first. We've done a build a bear run before and it's fun.
Can I take your picture?
Only if you feel that taking a picture of me will not destroy your camera ;p

Time needs a pause button.
Posted 10 years agoI always have trouble figuring out what to say and how to say it fo these journals, which is usually why I forget to update it as often as I should.
Anyways, the masters courses are consuming me. Work's got a lot of my attention as well.
I need to draw and create more.
and the hand...well, it still is a bugger, but at least now I'm able to do a thumbs up. Woo. Sometimes the hand doesn't want to draw or write and I have to switch to the other. I dislike this. At least it doesn't bother me as much with typing.

desire to draw strong.
Posted 11 years ago...ability to draw, frustratingly unable to do so at this time.
I'm unable to use my right hand as of this post, as three fingers are in splints. This happened on November 5th when I was holding a door with a column style handle open for mom. As I was holding the heavy door open, a guy caused the door next to it (as i was holding open the right hand door of the middle set) to fly open. Next thing I hear is the metal of the two door handles crashing together before I remember that my hand was there. Mom said something to the guy, which didn't seem to register in his skull as I watched him clanging the two door handles together stating that they sure did open quickly. Then mom stated to him in a way that was very clear that he had hurt me, and it seemed that by the time she and I had blinked, he was gone. I filled out an incident report with the convention center that night as well as visited the Emergency room in Atlantic City to get checked out. My middle finger was the worst as it (whe the x-ray occurred) was a bruised bone. Ring and pointer had bruising while the pinkie was just sore feeling. The hotel that we had stayed at was kind enough to give me an ice bag for my fingers.
It is so frustrating. I want to draw, but can't.
Only reason why I'm posting this here and now instead of when it happened was because I've been busy and it's a bit embarrassing. I mean, who gets injured while holding open a door like that? It's also slow as heck typing with one hand. On the plus side, my left hand's writing skills are pretty decent and legible at this point...just can't draw with it. Drawing and writing is muscle memory and it doesn't have it.
Also...medical bills for something that happened to you and not caused by you suck. >_<

Blade, where is your art?
Posted 11 years agoOkay, I have been drawing, just have not been scanning and posting anything. I've been incredibly busy with working on my Master's Degree and am hoping to graduate next August. *crossing fingers* When I'm in need of destressing from the assignments and work, I have been drawing, no time to scan, and have been playing Destiny (on the ps3, Awakened Hunter) and dealing with RL stuff.
Anything that I have drawn is just sketchwise stuff, and mostly human. Very rough drawing.
Just wanted to post that I wasn't dead.

FAU 7 for a rare Blade in the wild sighting.
Posted 11 years agoI will be at FAU7 this year, been looking forward to it since the end of it last year. Yeah, I'm just silly that way. I shall be in the dealer's room with various things, including eyeballs, and offering commissions. Look for Phoenix 3 Workshop at table 41.
So, look for me this year once again, I'm looking forward to seeing everyone there!
...sorry i've been so quiet on here though, I've been working on my masters and it has been keeping me busy, that and a bunch of RL things that have happened as well back to back.

Posted 11 years agoI've had a busy time of things, especially since my last journal. I have been:
-working a lot.
-just went back to school via an online course for my Master's degree.
-been very sick.
-I had to put my oldest cat, BrightSpot down on March 29th.
Brightspot, or simply Spot, was born in October 1993 to Guinan. Spot was a kitty who was all white, except for two gray spots upon her head, quite like her brother, Trucker. She was given the name "Brightspot" because that was a character from one of my favorite Star Trek novels by Vanda M. McIntire, "Uhura's Song." I had Spot since...well she was born because her mom, Guinan, was also our cat. She would follow me around the house and enjoyed sitting on me or next to me. She only had one eye due to it being clouded over, but her other eye was a gorgeous blue. Her favorite thing was being brushed. She outlived her mom, Guinan, by seven years and her brother, Trucker, by I think 9 years.
After the passing of Guinan, Spot gained, albeit slowly, housemates of Mollywobbles, Henry, Chief, and Bones. She resented them most of the time, but they seemed to see her as the alpha as they tended to leave her alone and let her eat from their dishes. She had fallen down the stairs about a month ago, bouncing off of Chief and landing on slippers. This earned her being put into the kitchen where there were no stairs to fall down and easy access to the food. The other cats were getting thinner because they were /letting her/ have their food.
It was a tough decision to put her down, but she was in pain. The multi-hour long yowling sessions were not doing anyone a favor and it just showed how much pain she was in. When we took her to the vet, we found out that she was only four pounds. It was definitely time. She was given a sedative, then as she went, she had her cheekpuffs out in a smile knowing that she was loved.
She had an attitude, was shy but was a sweet kitty girl. She was loved and will be missed. She was just buried yesterday (there was a lot of rain prior) next to where her mom was buried.

Post FAU6
Posted 12 years agoAlright, so I'm lousy at journals and I'm late to the post con party, but this year's convention was a blast.
I adored how friendly everyone was, it made it that much more worth it to be there....though I've been to the con every year since it's beginning and will be there next year.
Thursday was when
Naruloth arrived from her two day drive from Michigan to pick me up for the convention. The drive for her had a bit of a detour, but after a few phone calls and looking at maps on my part, we got everything all set. We went to lunch at a local diner (The Penn Queen <3) before toodling our way via toy stores up to the convention...by way of the backroads since the GPS in her car seemed to be Glados' cousin.
Friday, Naru/Catvette made her way to the "i need my badge" line while I discovered where my table was...in the middle, near the front next to
Cooper and
Strype who were two very awesome people, and behind
KV1nn4 and
missmab two very fabu people that I hadn't seen in nearly a decade. Also got a hug from
Daigo that morning.
After the dealer's room closed, Naru and I were hungry and decided to make our way to Tiffany's instead of going to opening ceremony and also had wanted to hit up the Build-a-Bear since we wanted the ponies. Tiffany's has some of the best mozzerella sticks (triangles) that I've ever had, and there was just so much left over that we made our way back to the hotel with food and went into the Zoo in search for hungry furs (gave it to a pair of lovely ladies.) The manager of that buildabear was awesome, shoving her employee to the side when she heard that Naru and I were pony fans and insisted on stuffing our ponies herself. She had even hand stitched the back of my rainbow dash when she was not satisfied with how she was closing....so Wow. That is an amazing person.
Went back to the hotel for the Zombieland Equesetria panel run by
MajikCraft with our ponies and Spike. That panel was an absolute blast and worth going to...especially with Scootaloo wielding an axe wielding Spike. Anything else would be spoilers. You had to be there.
Saturday felt like a whirlwind. I got to walk around the Dealer's room and had many a conversation, got to see the ever so awesome
Gideon as well as chat with
maxblackrabbit about Transformers (he had MP Soundwave on the table and it was glorious), Korra and things like that. Max is definitely a sweet guy. Wandered by
pmoss and waved to her as well.
When the dealer's room closed, I made my way to the Pool party where Naru was already waiting since she had gone to another one of Vinyl's panels. The infamous "Soon" picture was taken there...of which we only discovered that on Sunday when we looked through the tweets.
Went to the auction where I had two pieces in (a pikachu that went for $25 and a blue pokemon that went for ???) before needing to leave for Gideon's panel. Whenever Gideon has that panel, I can't help but go because it always inspires me during to draw something...also enjoy seeing the transformers pictures that he puts into the slide show.
Don't remember if we went to the zoo afterwards.
Sunday was the day of the need of chai...which Naru got for me from a nearby starbucks. I don't know what it is about a bowl filled with eyeballs that makes people wanna just play with them in the bowl? Anyways, it was fun watching them play.
Closing ceremonies was rather sweet, and included someone proposing to another as well as auction part two where Dragoneer and Squiggles bought the newly engaged couple a special boardgame. My favorite part of closing ceremonies was when the NJSPCA was told that they had raised a thousand on their own and in total with the con, there was $8,400. Being the awesome con that it was, the entire room was asked if we could make it go over 9,000...of which, it seemed like /everyone/ stood up, lined up to donate extra to get it over 9,000. When the final total of $10,500 was told, it seemed like there was not a dry eye, especially not from Legal Eagle.
After that, it was the hunt for food, where Naru and I found this hole in the wall mexican restaurant where the food was wonderful but we got looks of "What the hell are you two doing in /here?!/" Then we went back to have some relaxation time in the Zoo, hanging out with Mab and KV1nn4's table.
Monday was a bittersweet day where we had to scramble about to get the car loaded and to the point where KV1nn4 was able to fit as well (sorry, i had a ton of stuff and then the ponies) but we managed. Glados' cousin took us around the backroads where we got to see many lovely towns and a rite aid where we stopped for a bit. Got to the airport with plenty of time...but the terminal that we were in did not have food, so we walked to the next terminal (sorry Naru and Kev >_<) where we found the Chili's! Food was great as was the dessert...which we were fighting over at one point X3 Hugs were given when it was time to watch her go into the gate.
Naru drove me home before going on her journey back to Michigan.
It was a sweet weekend, and wish it could've lasted longer. And if I've forgotten anyone, i'm sorry, there's just so many awesome people at the con.
We went to lunch at a local diner (The Penn Queen <3) before toodling our way via toy stores up to the convention...by way of the backroads since the GPS in her car seemed to be Glados' cousin.Friday, Naru/Catvette made her way to the "i need my badge" line while I discovered where my table was...in the middle, near the front next to
Cooper and
Strype who were two very awesome people, and behind
KV1nn4 and
missmab two very fabu people that I hadn't seen in nearly a decade. Also got a hug from
Daigo that morning. After the dealer's room closed, Naru and I were hungry and decided to make our way to Tiffany's instead of going to opening ceremony and also had wanted to hit up the Build-a-Bear since we wanted the ponies. Tiffany's has some of the best mozzerella sticks (triangles) that I've ever had, and there was just so much left over that we made our way back to the hotel with food and went into the Zoo in search for hungry furs (gave it to a pair of lovely ladies.) I will be at FAU6
Posted 12 years agoMy table is Phoenix 3 Workshop and I shall be plunked down behind it for most of the time at the con. I will be at the con's hotel so, you shall be seeing me about while there.
I will be taking drawing commissions (yes, I know I haven't been updating things here on FA, but that's due to not having access to a scanner, my cell is horrid at taking pictures and my tablet is on its last legs, so to speak) but I have been drawing...and crafting.
I will have my laminator with me...as soon as I relocate where I put it. Oh there it is. No worries now.
So, hope to see many of you there...even if I'm terrible with names and might not be able to place your face (itsbeenayearorsosinceIlastsawmostofyousoforgivemeplease!)

Why I'm so quiet.
Posted 12 years agoSorry about my lack of posting things here on FA, I'm still here, still lurking as can be seen by the favs that I've been making as of late. I have been working a lot, drawing not as much as I'd like, and needing to gear up for many different events.
I need to do a slew of needlefelting. I need to do a ton of drawing. I need to do a whole lot of creating.
I am making eyeballs out of felt. I really enjoyed how they turned out last time and I'm making a ton of them for two events that are happening nearly back to back. Though along with the normal ones, I also want to try and make some robotic looking ones as well as crazy looking ones.
I'm needlefelting My Little Ponies. I have already made a Rainbow Dash for myself and am working on Rainbow Dash the Second who will be followed by the Mane Six as well as alternate versions. I do want to do the Alicorn and Regular Twilight Sparkle and I also want to do Pinkamina. I have pondered doing pony "blanks" where it would just be the body color and no eyes on there yet, but I'm not sure.
I want to have an art show at a second saturday at the coffee shop that I frequent. I'm pondering dragons.
I'm thinking of needlefelting some digimon. thoughts?
I shall be at FAU6. I also have a nonfurry event in NJ that I'll be the month after FAU6 is the NJ Sheep and Wool Fiber fest http://www.njsheep.org/ as well. It is totally worth it to go there if you're a fiber, knitting, crocheting, spinner, waving sort of person.

Hurricane Sandy
Posted 13 years agoWell, I believe that I was part of the luckier ones here in New Jersey (south jersey) since the Hurricane (can we really call what was more of a Nor'easter superstorm a hurricane?) blew in on Monday.
It felt like a really heavy rain storm. No, I didn't go out in it, but I did look outside when I could. My brother was on duty at the fire company that he volunteers with since there would be people out there in the storm that made poor choices. There were wires down and he did say that there were more than that. We also had blown transformers in the area. In that, my street surprisingly had power while the rest of the town was rather spotty.
The power company has been doing their best to get everything back up again, though I can still hear the generator of the ones of the various homes that still don't have power back humming. I am rather thankful that the only thing that went out on my home was the cable and internet, though I do remember just waiting on Monday for the power to go off, but all we had was a flickering of lights and the cable (and thus internet) going out.
With the power being out in town, my job has been on break for a while since where it is at does not have power. It's been the same with my brother.
Today, cable has returned, and I know that it is a silly thing to be thankful for, especially since not much has happened in my area, it just feels like normalcy has returned. I hope that normalcy returns for everyone here on the east coast soon because it is comforting.

To sum it up (even though you should just go there yourself and read it) is that there is someone who needs better healthcare than what the states provide, lives in a bad situation and needs the funds to get somewhere where he can get the better healthcare. There is an indiegogo project site so if you donate, you will get something for it. Just go to that journal and help them out.
